Vice city would be an awful choice for the next location

Think about it, a whole decade of waiting for a new Grand Theft Auto only for it to end up having a similar location.

Los Santos and Vice City are far too similar and considering in the “HD” era Rockstar has been making the cities closely resemble their irl counterparts a GTA Vice City would be nearly indistinguishable from Los Santos.

As well as the location being a poor choice, the concept of drug smuggling sounds extremely boring.

What Rockstar SHOULD DO is have GTA VI set in Liberty City, this would be perfect because it would allow them to really show off what is possible with the hardware of the Playstation 5.

With the SSD and increased compute performance there is so much they could do, for example they could really capture the feeling of a densely populated metropolis by having tons of NPCs everywhere going about their daily routine.

The possibilities for how much detail they could put into the level design are so much greater with a Liberty City GTA, for example the tunnel system, the skyscrapers and all the various stores and apartments.

Think about what they could do with the PSVR2, exploring such a detailed urban setting would be amazing.

Vice city is such a boring waste.

It'd be better to see other locations first than an entire game set in Liberty City again. LC is iconic and will certainly return but hopefully not immediately next imo.

As for Vice City being too similar to Los Santos, I remember this topic had put up a passionate defense about how Vice stands out and could work as a brand new location

I wouldn't mind seeing Vice City again we get to see NYC/LA/Miami in the 00s/10s/20s that feels like it would be cool to look back on.

If you feel drug concept is boring, there's no guarantee that a VC game will be based on drugs who would've thought a game set in LA would be based on heists 😛

that thread feels like it was made yesterday almost to me...

Liberty city a 3rd time? And this is somehow less repetitive than an HD version of vice city.

Could we at least have planes? Or would that be too unrealistic again?

To me Las Venturas/Las Vegas would make so much sense. Gives them the opportunity to utilize a big city, vast desert, and other locations around the desert like Area 51, Reno, Red Rock Canyon, multiple airports and military bases. Amazing night life, underground slums, casinos, museums, banks, art, clubs, etc. Would also give them the ability to have even more buildings with completed interiors without it being too much. Also can be placed in the modern era (which I prefer) or a previous decade. With it being only a few hours away from Las Santos they can easily have characters reappear to build off of the previous story if they wanted to. Miami, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco are all good options, but my favorite option that I don't see getting talked about often would be Las Vegas.

A Good Man

I don't like Vice City but I don't want to see Liberty City again, either Las Venturas or a brand new location would be better settings.

What is the similarity between Los Santos and Vice City, pray tell? Compare their real life counterparts. What similarities can you find between Los Angeles and Miami? Aside from the fact that they have beaches?

That's your personal opinion. Rockstar won't tailor their games to your taste.

Again? III, IV, LCS all featured a 3D/HD LC.

Aside from the tunnels Vice City has all that.

Why Liberty City again when we already had it in GTA IV and It's honestly the best version of Liberty City.

I agree that vc is kind of boring, but thats only if its only set in vc and i don't think vc and Ls is exactly similar.

If its 2 maps vc and colombia. Then it does not feel boring at all and i think drug smuggling is pretty good theme for next gta story and not boring. It has not done yet in any gta.

Better yet have 3 maps vc, colombia and Lc or chicago.

Imagine that. 3 maps.

VC/Miami would be boring but there are other large cities in Florida that - when implemented correctly - could make for a San Andreas three independent cities setup that’s always great as you can really show the differences between cities and storylines.

Coke and gold chains in Miami

Fly to Tampa/Jacksonville  to get low.

Orlando for a make believe six flags.

That would be too big a map and the story wouldn’t make sense. No matter how powerful these consoles are they would barely be able to support a map that big.

I agree. I'd be disappointed if VI is set in Vice City only, or say South/North Florida only. It'd get boring too quickly given how flat it's, and how it lacks environmental diversity, let alone the fact that both Vice City and Los Santos share the sun-soaked, humid weather, with a tourist life centered around beaches w/ palms trees everywhere (I hate palm trees, lol). The only saving grace for a Vice-centered setting, in my opinion, would be the inclusion of South American and Caribbean cities, which I'd then be happy about.

With that being said, I'd also not like LC given how it was done justice in IV. Even if it was to be expanded to include the outskirts, the countryside and small towns, the city itself is already overdone. It's time to do something new in that case (say Chicago and the midwest).

Fair point but I don’t mind two smaller  but more detailed cities like Saint Denis, I’m sure the hardware can support that.

I partly agree with you but have a different albeit similar vision of GTA 6's map.

The map is entire state of Florida, there would be 4 cities and many country areas (mobile homes, rednecks etc)

- Vice City (a couple times bigger than the OG VC)

- Fort Lauderdale (a twin city, just north of VC, about twice as big as V's Los Santos)

- Orlando (further north from Fort Lauderdale, pass by lots of country before getting there, theme parks, etc)

- Tampa ( smallest city in game)

-Everglades

- small redneck towns spread out

Would be enough to hold us, and if the official GTA 6 map has less then 3 cities I might be disappointed.

I agree actually. A reimagined Liberty City on PS5 could be epic. But I prefer the darker tone to the series then the sunshine and palm trees etc

Houser and Benzies both said that Vice City worked only because of its 80s atmosphere, obviously miles of empty wastelands and one sunny place scattered over islands it's pretty bad setting
the only VI I will take is their plan to add actual Country of their own cities with countrysides, after all thats what they been doing since SA IV - detailed city RDR detailed countryside GTA V city and countryside RDR2 different  countrysides  so VI should be multiple citites and countrysides not a florida most famous sh*thole where actually more people can speak spanish but not english. And seriously they been working 10 years for one city that has no reason to be playground these days ? I really hope they not.
