catsmackaroo
CatCycle is a "simple" timecyc modification for Grand Theft Auto IV, aimed to refresh the experience. Not drifting too far off the original game's feel, this makes the game much more vibrant. From merely creating darker nights, to huge changes such as shifting harsh colors to more soft sensical colors, this mod will definitely generate a unique experience for you. Thanks to: @ItsClonkAndre for coding ExtendedWeather. EditIV for existing. The main thing that triggered me to create this modification was for the fact that the nights are... so bright! Is the moon a sun?! Un-understandable... now nights in Liberty City will leave you peeking over your shoulder... When comparing console reflections to PC, it doesn't make much sense! PC has a lot less reflections, leaving many textures looking like clay. BAD! To combat this, I used the console timecyc as a base, meaning the game will have the reflections restored. The atmosphere is strong in this one! It's hard to explain, but every Rockstar game always has their graphics bordering off reality, and its own world. For example, Foggy or Lightning weathers can often appear as green in the game. Why?! I don't know! But it's cool, as it creates a really dope atmosphere. Spoiler Plans Spoiler Add Comparisons for this post via ImgSli Add snow weather Lots and lots more! This mod is very much a long term development. Leave any and all feedbacks below! I did increase fog and stuff like that, I'm unsure how it affects the game's rendering, but I'm pretty sure it will slightly slow your FPS a very miniscule amount. Especially during foggy/lightning! You can just test it, it's a very simple mod install, easy to restore.

Be-Deliver
Just wondering, are you planning to increase the draw distance? If I remember, timecyc.dat is the file that controls the draw distance of the map. heustler

It does indeed but in my opinion the draw distance is good enough, plus you can modify yourself using EditIV

I don't think it's Draw Distance, maybe you're thinking of the fog or far clip, in that case yeah it is increased (perhaps decreased) from the vanilla game, it depends on the weather. You can use it yourself, if you think it's too short during some times and/or weathers, let me know. iiCriminnaaL
catsmackaroo
Update release - Adjusted building lighting during midnights (for times such as lightning) so they're all less dimmed. I also want to make the nights overall less dark, and this is a step towards that - New download host (Proton Drive - link) Spoiler All Versions: 1.0 - Release 1.1 - Sunny 8 PM blue color reduced 1.2 - Building lights during midnights are brighter ItsClonkAndre and iiCriminnaaL

I think DayL's timecyc shifts the game's vibe greatly, definitely aimed differently, thus for another audience... but his is much smarter technically, I think. I just did what I think looked good, no real science behind it

Chunk Norris
Catcycle is awesome! I very much enjoy the little fog/blur in the far distance during some weathers, better than having unlimited 10/10 visibility for everything at all time imho. Have you thought more about making the stars more visible during the night? I like the sky as it is, but maybe a bit more light pollution or some stars would make it even better. Maybe edit the skydome highlights a bit so they are brighter? Catcycle is my favorite timecyc currently after trying almost all of them including DAYL's natural, skyline, sweet autumn, motor natural, reality iv etc. The other one I like currently is Responsive Plus's vanilla enhanced timecyc but the vanilla nights in that are too bright/blue unfortunately. Hi. Yes! I actually wanted to, I tried to! But it resulted in some very weird visual bugs (i could've been doing it poorly though)... however, what you just said regarding the skydome being brighter, I never thought of that. I think it's because the entire goal of this timecyc is to affect as little files as possible. I think I'm gonna return back to this sexy project soon and I'll steal your idea! I wonder how well that'll work... Thanks for the kind words too, it really means a lot. iiCriminnaaL
catsmackaroo
Update release - Changed the skydome file so that the star field is brighter, hopefully improving the starless nights - Adjusted sky & star brightness/contrast for Extra Sunny, Sunny, & Sunny Windy, finally bringing back star-y nights, however I do desire this to be even further improved in the future, just don't know how to make it better yet. (The method I'm using currently makes the ocean look very odd if done too much) - Removed the readme file as it wasn't that important to begin with Spoiler All Versions: 1.0 - Release 1.1 - Sunny 8 PM blue color reduced 1.2 - Building lights during midnights are brighter 1.3 - Returned stars during night time Attramet, iiCriminnaaL, vizakavizard and 4 others

catsmackaroo
Update release TL:DR: - Brand new weather implemented - Various key improvements made Specifics: - The before unused Extra Sunny 2 will now occur during your gaming sessions. Thanks to @ItsClonkAndre for creating Extended Weather. But due to this, version limitations have been implemented. Leave out ExtendedWeather.asi if you're not on 1070 or 1080. - Since Extra Sunny 2 was an unfinished weather, it's ugly. Now it's been revamped completely. Using Extra Sunny as a base, you may see some similarities. - A lot of improvements have been made , such as: • Stars reduced for Extra Sunny & Sunny • Much more fog usage • Exposure reduced • Less saturation • Farclip reduced Spoiler All Versions: 1.0 - Release 1.1 - Sunny 8 PM blue color reduced 1.2 - Building lights during midnights are brighter 1.3 - Returned stars during night time 1.4 - Brand new weather implemented - Various key improvements made --- New Imagery Spoiler Behind The Modding: Spoiler ExtendedWeather works by changing the current weather every 7 minutes (by default) to another. All vanilla weathers are added, plus Extra Sunny 2. I then made Extra Sunny 2 a finished weather, based off Extra Sunny. I would add even more weathers, however I'm unsure how to edit the other weathers yet. I use EditIV to edit Timecycs, but even when adding stuff into Timecyc.dat, it doesn't appear there (even if it did, I don't think it'd work ) I planned on making Extra Sunny 2 a snow weather, just because I'd favor snow over some other sunny weather, but I'm unsure how to set rain to other weathers Edited September 19 by catsmackaroo Further explanation Internet Rob, Ryuichi, Ethmods and 6 others
