Can someone with a mod menu join you and be completely invisible? Like not even showing up on the player list?

Context: I am playing on PC. I was doing an MC sell mission in a solo public session and after I finished and landed the first plane it randomly exploded. I thought it was strange, but ok I moved on to the second. But then as I was approaching the plane it randomly exploded when I wasn't even near it. I quit for that day and came back a day later. I was going to do CEO crates but I got a call from Tony (nightclub raid). So I went there but as I got there I got randomly shot down by what looked like the cannon that's on the hunter FH-1 and lost all my product. I quickly checked the player list but I was alone in that session.

I believe that if people with some menus know your Rockstar Social Club ID on PC, then you are potentially at risk of being interfered with - even if you're in Single Player or solo / invite only / solo public etc. In that respect they don't even have to physically be in your lobby, but I'd guess that there are menus that mask them if they did want to join without permission.

I'd like to follow that answer with some useful advice to stop it from happening... but there isn't a way around it that I know. You can make a report directly to Rockstar, but without details and/or the identity of the player that is messing with you, they won't be able to resolve the matter.

Thank you for answering. Shame there is no way I could report that griefer. I don't know how that griefer could get my id. The last time I was in a populated public lobby (for a longer period of time) was probably 7-8 months ago

I believe this is possible, however in your case, there is a simpler explanation.

For the first incident, the Dodo seaplane if you landed it on the ground without the landing gear (wheels) down will explode after a while. If you landed it near another Dodo, that one will explode as well. It's really weird but this has happened to me, too.

I'm not sure what happened in the second incident, but it is possible that the police chopper that spawns damaged itself and crashed onto you.

I landed the first one with landing gear on Vespucci beach where I called in my hydra with which I flew back to the other Dodo. And for the nightclub incident, I don't know what happened I wish I was recording it because I shot down the heli with lock-on missiles from afar and I heard that thump that cannon makes. Also, I forgot to mention that in the nightclub incident I was flying on MK2

Yeah, there was a trick before(more glitch/exploit than cheat option), which consisted in going on certain blue markers(not telling which ones), there the cheating scum was absolutly invisible in player list(to avoid any possibility of report), map...etc.

Yes some can crash your game when you're in solo lobby, but I believe only a minority of them have this, met a couple only, very persistent ones tho. I always assumed it was because of different packs of cheat, the more expensive packs the more options to be a cancer nolife loser in GTAO.

Yes, most every menu out there has the tools that allow the user to be completely invisible to you and hide them from the player list in that session. Only another player with a menu would be able to see them.

The first dodo accident always happens when you leave the dodo and its still moving. It always explode then. You can test it.

The second dodo also happend to me about 3 times that a plane i havent collected yet, randomly explodes.

For the NC Raid.  I dont know all missions. Is there maybe one where you get attacked by a Chopper?

99% braindead cheating bots I met have blatlantly stupid stats, are in player list, they dont try to hide, they literally teleport to me, pull off their stupid explosive minigun or spawn npc at me..etc and end crashing me when they realize they cant kill me in passive mode.

In the NC raid, I shot down the chopper (it was a regular police chopper, not an attack helicopter) from afar so it could not have attacked me. The incident with dodos might have been just a bug, but I think everyone would be weirded out if then the very next day something even stranger happened again. I am going to play today if something strange happens I will have my confirmation.
