Decorate your apartments in detail. What do you think?

Hi.

I love all the programs to decorate houses (Property Brothers, Love It or List It...), and suddenly connected that idea to GTA Online.

By now, you can only choose a style, but you can't to decorate in detail.

I thougth that would be great to decorate in detail, not only choose a style.

For example, there could be a web in game to purchase furniture: chairs, sofas, carpets, beds, lamps, lighting, kitchen cabinets, backsplash, countertop... and then you relocate them (perhaps not all item you can relocate, but some of them).

Perhaps in this version of GTA Online it's not possible, but for a next GTA Online version I think this could be great "input".

What do you think?

It would be great. I like the level of decoration placement in the Penthouse for example.

I would love if every interior that we own had some sort of decoration system with different options.

An interesting case are the custom apartments. Almost each of the 8 interior types come with different decorations!

Agree 100%.  I even made a thread about this in 2013.  Here is what I put...

They dabbled a little with this but nowhere near enough. We need a deeper level of customization that would not only make our apartments unique but give us things to do in them. I know majority of the action is outside but when that gets boring I'd like to chill in my apartment and do things. Here are some pictures I fixed up showing ideas I think would be cool to have. If you have suggestions please post them and I'll add them to this post. OK in no particular order...

Table games that can replace the dinner table.  Here are 3 off the top of my head.    Allow the ability to place small bets on the games.  Not only as the player but as the spectator as well.  More kinds of games is always welcome too any suggestions?  Regardless,  we should be able to go to an online store and place an order just like we do cars and get it sent to our home.  1tablegames1_zpslsij0ghu.gif

Arcade games? Who didnt play/like this arcade game? lol  We have arcade games in the Agency and the Autoshop why not apartments too?  Plenty of good places to place a few games.

1tablegames1_zpslsij0ghu.gif4arcade_zpsthdk9vjd.png

Board/card games like Chess,  Checkers,  Domines,  Spades,  Poker,  etc?  My suggestion here is to move the bong and private dance spot to a different location and replace it with the board/card games suggested.  Also,  add a forth chair so up to four people can play.  These games can be purchased at the same place as the games in the gifs above.

2tablegames2_zpsdliayk4x.gif

Furniture customization?  The gif below just shows color customization but we should also get style customization as well for tables,  lamps,  etc.

7furniture_zpsqta6kyqf.gif

Wall paintings?  Would be cool if we could replace the current paintings in our home with different ones.  Obviously not these pictures in particular but designs R* comes up with.  Most likely mocks of these and more iconic movies.

6paintings_zpsohosjixi.png

Pets?  We should be able to buy dogs,  birds and even fish.  Also places for them such as bedding,  bird cages,  small fish bowls and even large expensive tanks.  Along with fish for the tanks we should also be able to get snakes, lizards, spiders, etc.  The animals should be alive and moving around too. This is just one place in the apartment thats good for a huge tank but there were a few other spots I saw that were just as fitting.

8fishtank_zpshx0idgkj.png

Here are some other things that arent customization but add to the atmosphere...

* Snacks inside the fridge - They put snacks in our other buildings why not in our apartments?  Add a snack bowl on the counter,  snacks in the fridge or both.

* Ability to walk around and drink - We can do it with beers but thats it.  Should be able to walk around with any drink.  Instead of only being able to take the shot of alcohol from the designated spots, we should be also be able to fill a glass with drink then walk around with the glass and take more than one drink from it.

* Update the stripper's presence - 1) Make them actually strip? Theyre called strippers but dont strip. lol They're just dancers right now. Make it so when they come over they're wearing a long coat or maybe even some clothes. Then when they dance they take it off.  As of now tho they arent strippers at all.

2) Right now the girls stay in that one spot by the chair and dance to themselves waiting.  Make them walk around offering dances like they do in Vanilla Unicorn. Once a dance is accepted THEN they walk to the chair.

Crazy that 8 years later R* still hasnt done any of this.  I think the excuse is that we dont spend enough time in our apt to warrent the efforts. 🤔

Standard Deluxe 59

Only if I can add wood paneling to some of my walls and trim.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 had something similar to what you're asking for though.

R* adds this to GTA+, subs skyrocket.

Love this stuff in games - although I reckon that for current GTAO, the best we have is the customisation options for some of the more recent business properties. Definitely needs to be a feature with GTA VI's Online - like with vehicle customisation and outfit options, it really does help personalise your experience.

At the risk of getting back on my "Monster Hunter World remains the greatest thing since sliced bread" bullsh*t, MHW: Iceborne (and also MH: Rise on Switch, IIRC) let you customise your personal quarters, right down to wallpaper colour/pattern, furniture style and individual chair/sofa upholstery colours/patterns, which fish you had in your aquarium (which you had to catch first!), paintings or other objects on the walls, trophies and collectibles on shelves, etc.:

this has been suggested over the years, its a missed opportunity, without been able to fully customize the apartments theres no point in visiting anyone apartment because they all look the same 🤷‍♂️

I'd enjoy this as another way to spend money and kill time, but it's also rather pointless. We spend so little time in our apartments. There is no incentive to be there. And since I have so many apartments and living quarters there isn't a "home base" for my character to return to like there is in other games. There are too many places to call home. That said, I do own every cosmetic you can buy from the casino shop and spent a lot of time decorating my penthouse when I first got it and I would do the same if they added purchasable cosmetics for any other property.

The fact that we can't customise our ten million dollar yachts interior confuses me a lot. Not even carpets or walls?

I think the solution there would be to make it so that most (if not all) businesses can't have personal quarters - i.e., your workplace is your workplace, and your home is your home. Because yeah, by giving the same functionality to offices and the like (but also gun lockers, and immediate access to computers for freemode work), they've effectively made apartments/houses redundant.

If it were up to me, I'd have it so that your spawn locations are restricted to safehouses only - I've done that by choice since I got my first apartment, and there's something that really grounds the experience by 'waking up' in GTAO in your apartment, getting in your car, and going to work or whatever. Same reason why, instead of using the options to load into RDO wherever you left off, I always load into the game from my camp - it just gives that added sense of place and realism to the game, IMO.

this was actually the original idea for the penthouse added in executives and other criminals, but it got scrapped in favor of the 8 presets. you were supposed to be able to buy furniture from a larss & elbo website (in fact there was a placeholder website, www.larssandelbo.com, that you could access until the lowriders:customs classics update patched it out) such as tables, storage, seating, lighting, dining, beds, and accessories. would be nice if rockstar could revisit it

What would the placeholder site show, just blank screen?

Because modders break them,so R* got to take them away.I mean R* could let modders do some modding and then R* could apply those changes to the game.Modders add quality things to the game for free, then R* sues them instead of appreciating their efforts for doing what R* couldn't.

What? We have car customisation already, and it's not like I have to worry about modders tampering with my game and screwing up my car collection.

Besides, as per WildBrick's description, it sounds like they just streamlined things into a bunch of presets, and moved on to other things - bit like how there were rumours of a "Gunrunning 2" business consolidation update, at the same time as a full-on nightlife update. Instead, most likely to streamline things in order to focus attention and resources on RDR2, we got After Hours, which was a pretty basic nightclub update, bolted on to a Gunrunning-style business consolidation component (complete with MOC-like mobile base and Oppressor variant).

There are probably a bunch more examples of this, too, where Rockstar had something more thorough in the pipeline, but instead of fleshing it out and releasing it fully (even if that meant at a later date), cut things back in order to put something out on the usual schedule, and left a lot of potentially neat things on the cutting room floor. :sigh:

It also bothers me only about 1/4 of the yacht is accessible.

A yacht of that size would have considerably more rooms than what is shwon to us. Even if we had access to the engine room which is behind the back panel on the stern would be an improvement.

At this point why is there still no mansions? My character has 300 million and still lives in an apartment in downtown.

I don't care if they charge 50 million, give us a 30 car garage and a master control terminal. There's already mansions in the game for crying out loud.

$50m? lol, the meltdown would be amazing to watch if that was a buy-in for a property.

I couldn't care less, what's the point of having money in game if you have nothing to spend it on?

Getting money in this game has never been easier with the Cayo Heist. There's no reason to not have money at this point.

Read my earlier post if you dont mind.  I suggest things that could make the apartments worth spending time in.  Its not really about providing a place to spend time tho.  Its just something else for people to spend money on.  Being able to throw parties in our apartments like we can in the casino penthouse would be an incentive though and we get to show off our custom decorations in the process.
