Failed Again
This looks really well done, another PC series comes to Console Crusader Kings III - Console UX & UI Special Note: Also available on PlayStation Edited March 30 by Failed Again
Grichka Bogdanoff
Is this a thread about the game or its UX/UI? In any case, there's some games that just don't work out with a controller (or on console, even). Grand strageries are those kind of games. Looks clunky as f*ck and would probably develop me carpal tunnel

smokeless6
I've hundreds of hours in Crusader Kings, and thousands of hours in Europa Universalis. I have to agree I have my doubts about Paradox games on console. But if it can reach more players, and they like it fine with a controller then no harm's done. It's a net positive, other than console development taking away from PC development. But that's a selfish stance. Personally, I won't play it this way. As a PC player I don't need to. One of the best things about Paradox games is everything you need to know is in the tool tips. Pass your mouse over anything and it pops up with the 28 factors that contribute to it. Why can't I build more ships? Why is this trade route under-performing? What do I need to form a trade company here? Why won't this ally join my war? How is this handled on console? Do tool tips still exist and you have to guide the cursor on using twin sticks? That's not for me. But yeah, why not? I'm a vocal critic of Paradox and their DLC policy. But I'm a sucker for their grand strategy games. EU IV is my most-played Steam game of all time, and that goes back 17 years through hundreds of games. And if this brings in folks who don't have a PC then that can only be good for the community. Edited March 30 by smokeless6 Failed Again
Failed Again
I like to say, "when we can all Play, we all win". I played Paradox(s) version of Stellaris on PC and (Console, so yes I get it..)Yet-So many people are happy with this release(Stellaris) on console, and the game has been getting (dreadedDLC)(smiley face here) Frostpunk on Xbox was nice.. but a bit tricky Hopefully developers will put in the time to make( Future console versions) with controller better..I hope this new release of CK3 will go in that direction.. I recommend using closed caps to make it easier to follow. (Not much game play). But goes into bringing these unique types of games to consoles. side note: Haptics and local audio on PS5 Edited March 30 by Failed Again
coltenharvey
I have zero positive feelings with the PS5 console edition. It's a strategy game that doesn't immediately give you the facts you need to make wise choices. There are so many parts missing, such as terminology that aren't mentioned in the Encyclopedia, a tutorial that doesn't cover how to micromanage battles, and the ability to split and join armies. When recommending potential targets for conflict, make it simple to assess the power of the adversary, whether they have allies, etc. When you see names on the map, why doesn't the map automatically move to where they are and also let you know what viewpoint you are looking at. It's quite challenging to follow other YouTube videos when you don't have that alone. What is the name of that location? resulting in an excessively high learning curve. The game might become more popular if you guys released more videos showing how to accomplish this and solved problems like displays with legends stating hit circle to exit window that don't function. cookie clicker Edited July 15 by coltenharvey
