At the risk of opening a huge can of worms, what's both your primary reasons for buying the pass this month, is it stuff like the clothing if you're a collector? The extra incentives for grinding money? Not judging just curious!

Well Rockstar made it so that our PS4 progress gets deleted if we migrate to PS5 and I'm not quite ready to let go of that yet so I started fresh on PS5. The stuff they give you in this subscription for the price is actually quite something of value if you're just starting out.

 

The day they announced this, the HSW D8 and free autoshop instantly did it for me. If I was a returning player, I'm not sure if I would have subscribed to GTA+ as the only things I'd see of value are the frog tee, HSW D8 and maybe the 500k (I stopped grinding as much, even on last gen).

I guess that makes sense since you restarted. Moreover it kinda confirms my own belief that you should make a decison on GTA+ on a month by month basis instead of letting it charge you and just forgetting about it.

I know someone that did the same today. They used the career builder, and the other startup cash (they got $1m like I did for some reason) for grind items, grabbed the free car and auto shop, and already have a sub because of it. Certainly not everything they had on their old gen character, but they can make money anytime they want now/

It's really cheap and the perks are great so I recommend it

I understand your train of thought but I don't agree with your logic.

 

All you're doing by starting fresh on next gen and then buying GTA+ is creating a hybrid and half-measured version of what you had on old gen. It will feel fresh for a while, but then you'll start missing your nightclub, arcade, facility, etc., and have to buy or grind it all back.

 

BTW, am I allowed to make criticisms in this thread or is it for gasping at how my new T-shirt looks wicked with my new hairdo?

 

Yesterday I had a night off from GTA online and might take an indefinite break because I'm so sick of it all, not just GTA+. If I want something fresh then I'll play a new game. I understand why you don't want to let go of your existing character on PS4 @Rvfae, but grinding all that back on next gen through a paid GTA+ subscription feels like a waste of real life and acquiescence to become a Rockstar brainless zombie.

 

On the other hand, it's only 6 dollars for a new and fresh GTA buzz for a month, so see what you can get out of it and report back, but it feels rather distastefullly sheepish to me.

A little reminder that this topic is for members to discuss the content and benefits*, or why they got it/find value in it, among other legitimate questions people may have and general discussion, not for memes or calling out those who decided to buy the subscription. Just like we frown upon people advocating for in-game griefing, we also don't want people chasing after those who did decide to subscribe to GTA+ because there's literally nothing wrong with that - adults know what they're doing with their money and no amount of warnings from others to not "suPpoRT cOrPorAtIoNS" will be above one's self-responsibility and own choice.

We also don't want subscribers to chase around non-subs for criticising it, so please at least let's see a bit of decency from both sides. Thanks.

You are allowed to discuss with subs about why they decided to get the sub, but this topic is focused on discussion between members and not calling them out, yes. You can argue this with members in the main discussion topic which is for both subscribers and people who are critical of it. Your post is mostly fine as is, but from the moment it starts sparking the same critical-only discussion then it's getting moved to the gen chat where it's more free-for-all for both sides.

You are allowed to discuss with subs about why they decided to get the sub, but this topic is focused on discussion between members and not calling them out, yes. You can argue this with members in the main discussion topic which is for both subscribers and people who are critical of it. Look at this way. If we already have a next-gen console and a paid copy of GTA online (which I do) then experimenting with a fresh character through the career builder and a GTA+ subscription could be a buzz.

 

It may help you restructure your character in a way you hadn't seen before and all for just USD 6, but that's all the positives used up from me. I'll reserve other feelings to alternative threads to not spoil this topic for others.

I'm not trying to grind anything back, I'm just looking for a fresh experience on PS5 and GTA+ makes that a little easier. Before the free autoshop i didn't find much interest in doing anything nor did I have any decent enough cars as a new player but now I have a bit of both, that's all I'm looking for. I wouldn't ever try to replicate anything my PS4 guy has nor the experience I mustered via thousands of hours.

 

I pay subscriptions for many other things in my daily life and I have enough disposable income to drop some on something I'm passionate about so why not?

@Rvfae Is the FREE D8 a one time redemption or unlimited like the free Xmas cars we get? Same with the HSW upgrade for it - single or unlimited?

Also, if the HSW upgrade is one time do you know how much it costs in game to upgrade?

 

Not interested in GTA+ myself, just wanted to see the value proposition. Thanks!

You can buy as many as you can store, no limit. Not 100% sure about the upgrades though.

So in theory, could you redeem multiple cars and then sell them? Or do you not get anything for free ones?

I'm assuming it's like the cars you earn at the Casino and such, they're worth basically nothing or straight up nothing. That would be a major money exploit.

It's not new though, that's been the case for all freebies in the past few years, so I assume it was pretty much automatic with the GTA+ free cars without them even having to reimplement anything.

Just got mine, got a couple of Deveste Eights and modded them.  Nice enough car though I don't drive supers since forever.  Had plenty of garage space.  I'll take the 500K and keep stunting in the countryside and helping low levels in freemode etc.  I finally quit paying for Shudder so I won't even notice it.  It's the game I cannot put down.

So you got 500k? Now i ask my self why some got 1 Mil (including my self) while others get the 500k.

Compensation for players who had finished Haos time trial and got only 250k instead of the promised 750k.

I only have 1 character and got the 750k for the time trial. The 1 Mil was granted at the session reload after the sub.

Seven friends I know that play GTAO like a career every day, five have transferred characters to X|S, and four of those have picked up GTA+. One of the non transfers made a new character on X|S and picked up GTA+. One remaining had no idea what it was, but that poor soul is still stuck on old gen.

I know a couple dozen others that play GTA every so often, but are oblivious to GTA news unless I mention something. They join a session, mess around (vigilante skatepark jumping) with friends and that's about it. I'd say about half of those have bought Shark Cards in the past, to pick up cars to mess with.
