After a week of playing GTA V next gen at 60 FPS, RDR2 looks like a damn slide show - I almost got sick.

It took a while for me to see the improvements in GTA but once I switched back to RDR2 i was shocked.

I hope they plan on at least updating the game for better frames.

I don't know why, but I never really liked the way high fps looks. For me, 30fps is the best. when its 60 or higher, there is something weird or unnatural looking about it. Maybe its just because ive played on consoles my whole life so thats what im used to.

Same here for years. When 60fps games and video became mainstream, they looked unnaturally smooth to me. At this point, I'm used to 60 fps, and reckon will soon become used to 144 as well.

Always fun to see consoles pointing out how trashy some games run compared to newer ones. I, too, was once a console sheep. Bought an ASUS G14 last year and been playing RDR2 at 60 fps ever since. I could even lock back down to 30, or whatever rate I want, at any time. I'm not limited to what the console manufacturers allow. Hated the "PC master race" shenanigans back then. After experiencing the same game on PS4, Xbox One X, and PC... I know why every PC player has always cast over consoles, and am one of them. :/

I'll take a console over a PC any day and twice on Sunday.

Buy game - install - play

All updates are pushed to the console and everyone has the same specs.

True, not to mention there are aspects of consoles I do care for such as the aforementioned. But what happens if you want to go back and play some older titles which have been long delisted from the console's store? You'll not be able to download said titles. What if you want to do glitches which are only possible in the base release version of some game? That's not gonna happen as everyone downloads the latest update by default. What if you want to mod a little bit, like access horses (cars in GTA V are the same way) and clothing normally accessible via online? That's not going to happen, either.

The "same hardware" aspect is lovely as beefier half-updates (X1X, PS4 Pro, XSX, etc) likely do not affect competitive performance (more or less; I would assume not but have zero concrete proof).

Most laptops don't even come with a disc drive nowadays. That being the case for me, all my games are digital. If you have a physical disc copy of a game, it's playable on PCs even without a CD drive thanks to external CD drives connected via USB. Has Microsoft allowed such devices to be used on Xbox One or Series? Aha!

For the "casual" gamers, consoles are definitely the way to go. PCs are just consoles with more options on both game functionality and performance (judging by hardware interchangeability). Ain't no one rebuilding high end Xbox systems with crazy specs. They're building PCs, and with good reason. BUT, if you don't care about forced updates, stores delisting older games for no good reason other than to force everyone to buy the latest product, and love paying a chunk more for multiplayer access (on top of the cost of internet and the console itself), you're probably already on console.

I can also do all my other things on PC. Programming, photo/video/audio editing, documentation, etc. But, oh... GTA next gen looks so good on XSX. Y'all watch as this new GTA+ is rolled out, content will progressively get locked behind that paywall. Change a little bit at a time so people don't notice.

I'm a software analyst.. once i get home from work i want nothing to do with PCs or configuration changes, or updates, or any of that.

I do have a gaming PC but i rarely turn it on.

I’ve never been into downloading games anyways. I like to have physical copies of everything, and it’s easy to find pretty much any game for any console on eBay. So that first one has never been an issue
