Craigsters
No actor’s films have made more money in box office history than Samuel L Jackson, but he had never won an Oscar until Friday, when he was awarded an honorary statuette by the Academy. The 73-year-old known for collaborations with Spike Lee and Quentin Tarantino, and a regular feature in blockbusters from Marvel to Star Wars, had previously secured only one Oscar nomination for “Pulp Fiction.” Jackson was presented with a statuette honoring career achievement at a star-studded Governors Awards gala in Hollywood, just two days before the main Academy Awards in which last year’s films and nominees will compete. “152 movie titles, $27 billion in box office, more than any other actor in history,” said Denzel Washington, presenting Jackson with the award. Jackson, seated alongside Tarantino in the Dolby Ballroom, took the stage to reminisce on his career, which also includes the original “Jurassic Park” and action sequel “Die Hard with a Vengeance.” “It’s been a real pleasure making indelible impressions on audiences as ‘gang member number two,’ ‘hold-up man’ and ‘unforgettable black guy’ — just to name a few,” he joked. seen here other source Edited March 27 by Craigsters Gentlebreeze, Ivan1997GTA, Lonely-Martin and 3 others 6 "You don't understand! Lonely-Martin
Don't usually buy into these types of awards (Oscar's, Emmy's, and such), but there are some that certainly deserve recognition for their contributions to their field, and Sam Jackson is most definitely one I feel deserving. Don't think I've seen him in a role that hasn't entertained to be honest, and he's done plenty that's for sure. Good for him! Funktipus
Let me get this straight....it's ok to slap someone who jokes about your wife, but not someone who f****d your wife behind your back. Jada whispered to Will, "August would NEVER let someone talk about me like that", then The Fresh Simp of Bel Air pulled a fake tough guy move. He didn't do that when 50 Cent clowned Jada. DexMacLeod
It blows my mind how many people think that slap was a work for publicity. Why on earth would a megastar celebrity and Oscar nominee for Best Male Lead feel the need to fake beef with Chris Rock for attention? Also Will's a better actor than that, he wouldn't have laughed first, then got mad. He'd have just been mad the whole time. Also Chris Rock is a much worse actor than that. He was truly shocked. Oscars are trashy since years, i mean they gave a dead dude (Heath Ledger) an Oscar after he was already dead. And even movies like "No Country for Old Men" get 4 Oscars. I mean really since many years that Oscar has been worthless already. It's the same with the Nobel Prize, i mean that annoying Greta Thunberg got nominated 2019, 2020 and 2021 for the Nobel Peace Prize. It's not about achievements anymore who wins these prizes, it's about being a media whore etc. it has nothing to do with what they do. These prizes don't have any meaning anymore. Mexicola9302
Samuel L. Jackson never deservered an Oscar. Denzel Washington does, but not him. Samuel sucks compared to him! He played in many movies sure, but never was really good. In 90% of times he played some superficial role. Mexicola9302
90s is something else. But we are in the year 2022. He didn't act in anything good since the 90's. The movie i liked him most in was Die Hard 3! Movies what worked together with Quentin back then, they all were good, but never deserved an Oscar. It would be like giving a grammy to Kyuss or Queens of the Stone Age. Both wrong. Because of the 90's stone musics age. Morgan Freeman would have deserved an Oscar for The Shawshank Redemption, in supporting rlole. Edited April 3 by Mexicola9302 Zello
DexMacLeod
I think Samuel L. Jackson absolutely deserved the award he got. Whether or not you like him or his movies you're lying to yourself if you don't think he's made a huge impact on film. His entire career is a massive accomplishment and he absolutely deserved to be recognized for it. I can't say one way or another whether or not he's ever deserved to win best actor. I generally don't watch a lot of the movies that get nominated for the major categories so I can't really compare. He's more of a character actor than a star or even a supporting character, though. Makes sense he's not nominated very often. Zello, Mister Pink and Lonely-Martin

Even something more throwaway like the Robocop remake, he just has a presence. In Django he's bloody brilliant as well.
