Is it still worth playing GTA Online if you have a lot of wealth?

This is another one of those threads that I feel like "Tell me what I like and what I wanna do" because it's entirely subjective.

But if you wanna hear my opinion, then yeah there's some fun aspects about this game beyond the grind

Your bank account has nothing to do with longevity of the game, unless literally the only way you enjoy it is by spending money.

I had fun when I had near 0$ because I was motivated to do stuff and I had fun with excessive funds because that meant I could choose freely what to do, not what pays best.

The game is worth playing as long as there is fun content to explore. For me personally I don't play nearly as much anymore because I've seen almost everything this game has to offer. I've explored every nook and cranny of this map, I'm sick of driving the same roads over and over and I wanna just close the game whenever a new DLC comes out and I see the same interior being reused for 127th time. I've derped about with every meme vehicle and funny glitch this game has to offer, I've filled my garages with car collections, I did most of the random unlocks that don't require having no life. Because of all the rampant godmode glitches, script kiddies and Rockstar's incompetence freeroam with randoms is kinda dead to me, so I can't capitalize on the random aspects of a multiplayer environment. The game is done for me personally, but not because I have a lot of money. It's because there is nothing to do I haven't done enough times and any new update lasts less and less simply because it's still the same GTA.

tl;dr Money is only one of the means to have fun in this game, not a goal.

As per my PlayStation year at a glance, this game is by far the most played game in my inventory.

This is because simply put, there is no other game that offers the variety of things to do such as GTAO.

I spend most if not all of my time in a solo session and have around $185m. I don't do missions to make money anymore, I do them simply because I enjoy them.

I don't have 'everything' far from it, I have the things I want/need and never have to worry about money if something is released in the future I can instantly buy it.

Is it worth playing? Absolutely it is for me because of the sheer variety of things to do you simply can't get in other games.

On PC it was incredibly more fun to start in 2015-2016 than now, despite its easier to make money, at least back then the game was working relatively well(blame all the sh*t updates), there were problems with script kids but it wasn't that bad as it is now. From 2017 and periodically further public lobbies became unplayable.

There was a lot of Hydra griefing, and passive mode abuse, but overal combat was much more balanced with fewer vehicles.

Contact missions were much more social and less repetitive

Grinding Pacstand was easy with Utility Vest and Kuruma and so many better average players

I wish I could return to these years, accumulating money does nothing really...

Im a ( legit) level 1000+ with 1022 millions on his Bank account and over 127,000 Player kills.

There is still a lot to do.

Helping low bobs in free roam and protect them from griefer, sniper 1v1, fighting tryhards and so on

I would say yes, when you "have everything" its still worth it to keep playing, for new DLC! but in my personal humble opinion people who fill up their bank account are idiots who f- themselves over, you are essentially screwing yourself out of future reasons to play the game. The 'core gameplay loop' is:

"(new DLC,) i want X, X costs money, do jobs & earn money, get X, feel a sense of achievement for your work, repeat"

But you play the game differently, you switch between two gameplay loops
1: "i want money! repeat!!"
2: "new DLC, i want X, oh right i have 100mil+, get the whole alphabet! okay bored now.. why repeat?"

My strong suggestion would be to try get rid of most of the money, waste it on random crap, then set yourself a limit that your bank account/wallet should never really surpass, in the region of 5-15mil, if you reach the limit, you either focus on freemode shenanigans or actually take a break from the game, the idea behind this is that when a new DLC drops you must make choices, you cant just have anything you want now, you can only have a few things and then you gotta earn the rest. This means you get more value out of each DLC (you 'engage with it' longer instead of only half a day or so) and you have a 'reason' to play jobs, because you want X!

This is comin from a used-to-be day1 level1000+ btw, i used to do exactly the same thing, hoarded a boatload of money for the first few years, because ohhh ahhh numbers, but its just stupid & i started enjoying the game much more when i stopped doing that needless grinding, you want to do focused grinding instead 😛  Grinding for money should be a means to a certain goal, grinding for money should not be the goal. Just my 2 cents, do with this advice as you see fit etc.

Stopped killing ppl randomly once I hit the 10k mark.  Ol tornado had a crisis of conscience.

Dude with 127k kills above though, props.  That’s a lot of death.

My 2ndary character I still play.  She picks up nice things on sale, but barbara has far less hoarder instincts than nado.

Play to help noobz, but also just mainline missiles into anyone griefing cargo.  I hate the stat, because this isn’t COD, but the ol ratio went up .5 since the kosatka.

Most of them ( about 100k) came from deathmatches as i played them " professional" in a crew and we often played tournaments against others.

I mostly agree with this. I thought long and hard about buying Shark Cards when I was doing the MC Business grind. The conclusion I came to was that earning money to buy things was the only real gameplay loop. Paying real money for GTA money would cut out the loop and remove the reason to play the game. However, I disagree with filling the bank as removing the gameplay loop. The trick is that I now look at my goal amount as my new zero. I can't go below it. I'll only let myself go below if a new DLC comes out and I'll play that new content to get back to my starting point, if not higher.

I do choose my activities based on what I think is fun, not purely profit. I'll grind Auto Shop or the VIP Contract because I enjoy the content, but I won't solo grind Cayo. My group loves playing Survivals, even though they don't pay great. However, there are some things I won't play because they just don't pay enough. For example, I'd play the old contact missions with friends if they wanted to, but the content just isn't good enough for me to play them solo. For me, half the fun of this game is the social aspect of playing it while "hanging out" with friends.

I see literally no difference in the amount of script kiddies. In fact, I'd say it got better over time. Back in the day any populated lobby was pretty much guaranteed to have some kid exploding everyone, spawning cages and campfires or crashing your game. I don't see that nearly as much anymore. Part of it is probably because R* introduced unbalanced griefing wagons and doesn't fix glitches so you don't even have to risk getting banned to show everyone that your mommy didn't give you enough attention. The real thing that has changed is R* enabling toxic behavior. It's just a different taste of garbage.

Wealth has no influence on anything. In my case at least, it's friends.

I started playing in 2016 right before bikers. I met a ton of awesome people. Lots of older gamers too, our crew average age is probably 35 or higher (note: PC, not console). We had so much fun. Even a lot of the modders back then were cool as hell, spawning all kinds of things and making it interesting. Easily made over 200 friends, a lot which I still talk to today. Seriously we would all be online all of our non work hours hahahaha. There was always some sort of chaos or adventure going on.

I consider this (and part 3) the peak of our insanity:

(note: any modding was not done by our crew, and we were highly against any sort of cheating or money drops, just to be clear)

Unfortunately, we had quite a large falling out between some members mid 2019, as well as a lack of content keeping people around compared with earlier times. Slowly we dwindled, and now there's no one online. I usually log in to spin the wheel, and maybe chill in a lobby with one or two people that might be online, otherwise it's a ghost town. Someone here also mentioned awhile ago that being able to solo all the new stuff isolated people. I kind of agree with that in a way. I met most of my friends through Pac Standard, and all of us competent ones stuck together. You were never lacking for heist partners.

I can tell you this though.... all the money in the world, and lack of content don't mean much. If all my friends were around, I would continue to be on there every day.

There really is nothing like 16 of your friends screaming like a bunch of idiots playing Hot Bomb or Monsters in the arena.

If you truly want to understand... (BEWARE ADULT LANGUAGE IN THIS VIDEO... I mean not like there isn't any in the game itself.....)

I would say, yes. My main account has over 400 Million in the bank which give me the access to buy anything I want. But, I'm a grinder at heart so I'll just continue to make more but at my leisure. My second account is also at over 100 million and is fun to try things a little different on that char.

But at the end of the day, no matter how "rich" you are in this game the fun of it is whatever you make it. Having ample cash in this game is akin to just being able to do what you find is fun without having to work at it. In my case, I spin the wheel, go into freeroam and spectate in passive driving whatever suits my fancy, do the occasional sale on the bunker, nightclub or MC and when someone does choose to interfere in my plans I don't have to think about the insurance claims, just the BS points.

If you just enjoy the progression or grind then set up a second account. Personally I find it fun to build up a character to "graduation". Graduation to me means the char has a rank of over 135, and 10 Million in the bank. I can usually do that in about a month + or - about 10 days. and that was in the days before uncle El Rubio showed up.

I mean... GTA 6 is probably out in the next 2-3 years. If you already own pretty much everything and have more than $100M wealth for example, is it really worth to play to make money anymore?

The answer to this depends on your game style. My friends and I play because of the crazy fun that we can have in the game. We've run all the contact missions so many times that we should find them boring, but we always manage to have some fun doing it. Either because we decide to use non-military vehicles, or the crazier weapons (like the musket instead of automatic weapons). Or we just hop in, try to get a 5 star wanted level and then try to get away from the cops while driving a bus or some other stupid vehicle.

So if you have an imagination and can create your own fun, then yes it's still worth playing.  If all you're playing for is to earn money and buy everything, then no, it's probably not worth playing any more.

Just have fun! It's not the money but the things it is used to get. And when you get those things, enjoy them, or what's the point?

I'm actually at a point where my female character is semi-retired. There's over 100 million in the bank, and I finally found a good rhythm to do quick Cayo heists in around an hour. I bought a house up in Paleto Bay where I store my favorite off-road vehicles. The Yacht is where I do job missions from (so many missions I never tried before). I just started collecting cars.  I'm not worried about the grind anymore. Just looking to immerse myself into the Los Santos world and have some fun. Actually finding the things to do for fun is the most important thing for me because it's what gives the game life.

I like when the game organically put's me in a situation where I have a choice to respond to things like when I'm on a payphone mission and while killing a target in a gang territory, they get triggered and attack me. So I now have an excuse to pay them a visit the next night and make them pay for not minding their business lol.

Other than that, I do wish I had friends to hang out with me at my Casino penthouse even to just have conversations around the table in the conference room. Until then I stay in a solo invite only most of the time.

Now that you have wealth you can buy and customize any vehicle you want, enjoy races with your friends, start a crew ect...

Wasn't buying in game items the goal? Why else would you spend all that time grinding money?

Yes, having wealth in the game makes you free to pursue what you love, for me its stunting in the countryside and helping low levels in freemode.

I was playing and enjoying the game even when I made meself tons of money. Eternal cloud surfing while joining missions, game crashes, glitches, bugs and most importantly - MODDING is what threw me out of the game at the end. Not the fact that I can buy everything under the sun in this game, perhaps 2 times over and still be left with enough money to have my own private army or smt. If you enjoy the game you enjoy the game, no matter how much money you have. There are still people out there who love to just grind crates after years of grinding crates, for an example.

Definitely, messed around a bit with the Hakuchou on PS5, it can do some crazy jumps, funny you mentioned the Vagrant.  That is my go to car now.  Drive it like 90 percent of the time.  Also use the outlaw for a change but it isnt as good as the Vagrant IMO.  Hopefully they add some good offroading fast cars that can also go 160!

Looked up Ricky Bobby but still dont quite get what you were saying lol.

Either way, with all due respect etc, did you seriously just suggest GTA+ in a topic about "should i keep playing when rich"???? Not tryin to be a d*ck here, if you want to go for GTA+ then by all means do, but ehhh, i dont think GTA+ will make the game worth playing for the topic starter 😛

You are most likely correct.  I guess you haven't seen Talladega Nights. It's pretty good unless of course you don't like Will Ferrell. I got rich and I wanna stay rich. I view it as basically free money and I get some knicknacks thrown in.

Wait for DLC, buy whatever money making business that comes with it and leave the vehicles alone.

The main thing I do when I play is try to make more money even though I probably won't spend it!

I already own everything I can (garage slots full, hangar is full, everything is full, all businesses) and have done nearly everything. Now I pretty much do old contact missions in different ways or join random missions or heists. Or maybe join a public and launch sub missiles at tryhards or troll with RC cars.
