Introducing GTA+ - Reward-based Subscription for GTA Online

Personally, I think this is a good move.

To be clear, I've played gta since day 1,gta1 and loved every release in the franchise.  I have watched on since the birth of V and noticed everything has got harder/more of a grind but also understood that a game that's 9 years old that keeps receiving free content will not last indefinitely,  money needs to be raised to keep the online (the bread and butter) aspect of the game going. It didn't start that way though did it, and that's what I feel people are lacking the understanding of.

The game has moved on, all games have. Its not just a long wait for a game release then pay and enjoy it like it used to be, online gaming has evolved so much over the last 9 years and whether you like it or not, online is the main game now and was always going to be the case as time went on.

I've recently upgraded to Ps5 and I have transferred my character over so now I'm dead on ps4. I did this not because I like throwing money about, I did it because I have a love for the game and I am literally petrified that I won't get the latest instalment/update of the game that I've come to love. I'll keep the Gta+ so long as I get something from it, the minute it turns out to be a red herring I'll cancel it and just earn coin the way I always have in game. That said, I really do think there is awesome to come. The Ps5 and xbox are the new beasts and the power of them is something to behold, to think gta online won't expand in time on them defies belief, it will happen and I think even the haters will be queuing up to buy Gta+ when they realise what's to come.

 

Yes all in all who wants to pay more for a game we all know like the back of our hand...

The question is, why are we paying extra?

It's Rockstar, good things are to come and you all know it.

We wouldn't all be here cursing and loving Rockstar 9 years later if that wasn't the case.

I won't buy it no matter what's in it. If it goes to subscription only, (something rather increasingly likely for VI), then I'm out for good. To hell with it. I never cared much for online games to begin with and while I tolerate a ps plus subscription, an additional one for individual games would be the final nail in the coffin for me. Yeah the industry has changed quite a bit since the golden years of the ps2 era and certainly not for the better.

While I agree with most of this statement paying for ps+ or Xbox live is a separate service, it’s like buying a tv and buying a cable service, you can watch tv without cable service but your not getting the content you want.  To me gta+ is like buying a new tv and paying extra every month to have the tv turn on.  If R* starts locking content behind this I’m done period, if it’s just giving early access to content we can still get without a subscription I don’t care but either way it’s a sh*t move for a 9 year old game especially when most of the online content is locked to public lobbies already.

You already pay every month to turn the TV on, it's called electricity.

The world is full of subscriptions and monthly bills. It's fine if you find no value in it, but your analogy was silly at best.

Yes, but you're defending GTA+ as being good when it isn't, maybe just to argue a point.

 

GTA+ is inexpensive but most of us don't want it because we have no need for it, don't agree with Rockstar charging for a nine-year-old game and because we already have zillions of other costs and bills to prioritize every month. If I want to go down that route, we can pay for Netflix, Prime, HBO Max, Starzplay, Disney, etc, etc... just to watch TV. Most of us can't justify a GTA+ subscription, no matter what it costs.

I never defended it there, I said their analogy was silly. It's fine if people find no value in something, but making bad comparisons to make a point isn't the way.

I know what you mean, what I meant was if games started charging individual subscriptions for them on top of having to pay for ps plus/ Xbox live. I probably could've clarified that better when I posted earlier.

There's no sense in paying a subscription for any game least of all GTA. "Free to play", yeah sure. But GTA has been locked behind a 30-60 dollar price tag for almost 10 years and it's riddled with problems and glitches that they simply refuse to fix. The jet was an issue for about four or five years before they added the Explosive Ammo and even then that's not a guaranteed 'fix' as not everyone can get access to it with the way it's locked. Meanwhile the MK II Oppressor has reigned terror for 3 to 4 with a 'fix' said to be coming but we'll see(Again there ARE counters but not everyone can access them, especially when they're doing sales)

 

The 'can't deliver to yellow corona' bug has been present for Bunker sales(And I believe others? Haven't touched anything other than it and Nightclub since reaching 1000 crates in 2019) and Business Battles for quite awhile with a fix never coming(Which f*cking sucks during Event Cargo, flying all the way from Paleto f*cking Bay just to find out you can't deliver. Or WORSE, doing the seemingly always active Aircraft Carrier to discover that). Every other service works to fix bugs and major issues, R*? They won't do sh*t, if it ever even comes to PC that would just be laughable considering they can't fix the Ballstorture issue while simple modders continue running rampant.

 

Oh yeah, and let's not forget 8000's somehow getting through the transfer process! THAT is unforgivable but it's oh so much fun messaging or texting "Reported" cause they flee the session 

 

If they REALLY wanted GTA+ to be worth something, then they'd include free rankings for Arena War and LSCM. I'm sure that people would be willing to pay to gain 20 levels of rep or so every month, heck my offer is still f*cking there. I'd pay, and gladly pay, up to $30 to get the f*cking Space Docker in my garage without that BS. After all I'd waste less time getting that money than I would slaving away in Arena War for months on end. Seeing how they're so money hungry, why don't they unlock those vehicles and put them up for sale? Arena War's essentially dead now and it's not like people wouldn't be willing to buy those cars(The Clown Van would be absolutely perfect for the next Clownstar Games incident!)

That's only on Social Club, while inside the game those are labeled with the name of the console platform, which makes me wonder if they tried to change it from Expanded and Enhanced and forgot about the Social Club view. I don't know why they didn't just label them Exclusive Content. The old items that are labeled Exclusive Content were only exclusive compared to the shut down PS3/360 versions.

They are no longer labelled as part of E&E on Socialclub. That tweet has been outdated for some time now. They are labelled as only available on new consoles.

I think that stupid 110% accurate vehicles like that are the GTA equivalent to Ka-50 in WT, albeit GTA isn't fundamentally using the same economic formulas, the same kind of player is targeted. That kind of player is more likely to buy a Sharkcard to get the most OP vehicles as soon as possible. 

 

On PC there is a whole trend since 2017 of "pro players"(they have "pro" in their GT lol) that are essentially only using MK1 broom, explo sniper, picking BST before getting on their broom because they fear to be sniped...

 

Lvl isn't that high, between 80 to 150, or sometimes higher.

The Deluxos have Insurgentish armor, and can take multiple RPGs, let alone Holming Launcher rockets, they also have no lock on, don't ask me how I know this, but not being able to finish at least one of those set ups?

 It doesn't serve the gamer/client, it serves the shareholders of that particular company publishing (not necessarily creating) the game...

It's getting worse and worse... All about the money. The only way to stop these tactics, is not subscribing. Simple. But we all know the current generation of gamers is different than the ones

who've seen it all play right out from the start. I'm one of those people. Not saying I'm better/smarter than the new gamers (my son is one of them), but current generation are eased into these tactics. Slowly but steadily... I'm closely monitoring

Fortnite (his main game) and Epic has similar tactics. I don't like it one bit.

 

TBH I thought this thread was a (bad) April 1st joke. But I guess this time around the joke really is on us...

I could see them adding new aircraft with Missile Jamming tech on it costing absurd amounts. Like an F-35B to dethrone the Hydra and Lazer and I could see them adding an F-117 Nighthawk that can fire Cruise Missiles like the Kosatka

How would that even work though?

 

The only reason why the Kosatka's cruise missiles work in the first place is because it's mostly static in the water, idk how piloting a missile while flying a jet could work without you crashing in the process.

 

I guess controllable missiles would be a better choice for something like a helicopter, kind of like the TV Missile from the Battlefield games.
