Reading all the staff vs community from the last pages makes me think of that old saying:

"If many people tell you that you're drunk, maybe it's time to sit down"

And this isn't just people in here. Hell, you should see how other sites see GTAF...

Seriously, guys, this shouldn't be you vs us, this should be us vs them. As much as I defend the idea of opposing points of view on a discussion forum, it seems like there's a consensus on how this is a terrible idea, yet we're arguing when we're all practically agreeing. You have to understand when we're suspicious about the stance that GTANet has taken in recent times instead of pulling the good ol' "don't like it? then get out". You can't blame us for expecting "better" (which means that we expect anything but total "neutrality", but also not really). We can all agree that we worry about the future of GTA, right? We can agree that these kind of practices set an awful precedent for the future, right?

And yes, this is just today. Many of us worry that tomorrow the game's features will be walled behind GTA+ because today it feels likely. What ten years ago would have been an April Fools joke now it's a reality. We need to stop pretending that we know what Rockstar is doing because for one we have no idea of what is Rockstar's or Take-Two's doing anymore. We need to understand that times change and that companies aren't our friends.

But even if you really believe in your heart of hearts that this is a good move from Rockstar and you're gonna buy it because it works for you or you wanna show your support, keep in mind that GTA Online is not consumer-friendly. Its system, its 'economy', its free roam system, its locks... it's all designed to push you to spend money. Can you really believe that a newly introduced subscription will have your best interest in mind as a consumer?

A thought has just occurred to me, what would happen if a non-GTA+ player were to try to buy a GTA+ player's HSW D8?

Would it let you buy it because the car's already released and the HSW upgrades are only parts like bennys wheels, and it'll give all the 'exclusive' stuff to you even before it's officially released?

Or would there be some other error to stop you getting a HSW D8 early from your GTA+ friends?

And certainly, once the HSW D8 is available for everyone, wouldn't a non-gta+ player be able to buy a D8 off a gta+ player with 'exclusive' liveries?

The game probably has checks in place to prevent this from happening. Like how you can't buy a Lost Slamvan from another player

I'm sure R* developers thought about this scenario during the development of GTA+. Would defeat the entire purpose of "exclusive" if a non-subscriber could bypass the subscription via the car meet.

But you can buy bennys wheels on things and hidden liveries... the car isn't new or different

This is the worst thing I have ever seen. And I have every right to say that, because I was an advocate of a monthly subscription. But not like this. There's no content. I'll pay for the content, not for a service that makes me grind 2% faster for their useless businesses that generate less than one contact mission per day.

I'm not against paying for new content either, for years I was advocating for a one time purchase of Liberty City map. Heck I'd even be willing to pay $60 if they had content ready to go from the get go for Liberty City and didn't just drop us in a new map with nothing but Races/PvP modes to do

But this isn't good, the incentive of subscriptions is to keep them going. Once somebody owns all the businesses, what use do they have for this? Not to mention the liveries/clothes are all subjective to taste(But are ugly part from the frog shirt, be honest lmao) and the alleviated paint costs means jack unless you're one of those people that like swapping up paintjobs on the regular. Same with crew emblems, been playing for years and I can honestly say I see a crew emblem rarer than a blue moon!

It's like Sisyphus on a seesaw. You actually reach the top only to realize you have to go back down over and over for eternity. But they give you the luxury of paying them for the ability to roll the boulder a tiny bit faster. T2 has become an evil that even mythology couldn't create.

Hahaha you ppl calling them evil are funny, they just want more profit like every other corporation. It's not like they support illegal organ trade, or human trafficking or whatever, they are just greedy not evil. Nobody is forced to pay for that subcription, veteran players don't even need it.

If rockstar wants more whales that pay money to them, good for them. If some ppl are that stupid and fall for it, so be it.

If they don't make stuff permanently exclusive to GTA+ subscribers, and the regular ppl only get some stuff later, that GTA+ doesn't matter at all.

It's all just capitalism, it's not like we didn't see it coming. They only introduce it now, because if they had done that shortly after game release, barely anyone would have bought the even more expensive shark cards. Low levels can get up to speed now much cheaper, i don't even see anything evil in that. Veterans just don't give a crap about it and period.

Edit:

Incase anyone of you played Fallout 76, it's like getting a month of Fallout 1st, only to get the Scrapbox, you fill that Scrapbox for a month like crazy person farm endless junk items and then cancel the sub, in longterm you benefit of it even tho you only needed a one month subscription.

This GTA+ goes in the same direction, it's only useful for a short time. After you got all already, you just cancel the sub and profit of it. That system sure as hell is less greedy than only selling the virtual currency for real money. No idea why you ppl are all so upset about it.

It's not just about this game. It's about the future of the franchise. Sure veterans might not need this subscription, but they're still upset because of the precedent that it may set for future GTA and Rockstar games. Nobody is forced to pay for the subscriptions but they'll be forced to endure the gameplay effects/changes caused by the monetization. Again not just in GTA Online but possibly future titles as well.

People like to moan a lot about the cost of things, and that’s fine. Personally I don’t see GTA+ as good value. But I also don’t see why they shouldn’t be offering it. Nobody is forced to sign up to it. Just as nobody has to pay for shark cards. I am in that group of people that has happily played this game for 8 years and with the exception of buying it on 360, then Xbox 1 (and not many people can complain about this) then for the meagre price to upgrade for Series X, i haven’t paid anything else for the updates and expansions in that time. Of which there have been a lot. The greed or impatience of others i.e. their buying of shark cards so they can buy things now instead of save for them, has funded hundreds of hours of free playing time for me. And I am good with that. I really don’t see how GTA is hitting people with microtransactions.

People need to vote with their wallets. It really is the only way. Often though, the people with the biggest complaints are also the people that then hand over their money for it anyway because they cannot bear to miss out. It will be interesting to see how the service goes.

It can probably get super nasty but for what concerns me I think I've got the best of this game in 2016-2017 and honestly I would have prefered to play a complete new GTAVI looking hell good like a 2020's era game instead coming back for updates on a 2013 looking game.

So far I don't see a real future with GTA, its literally the third release on the same map...

Here's why I am afraid of, what if they start making good bonuses exclusive to GTA+ Plus members only?

Oh I am almost certain they will, maybe more than that.

This is just bad and unnecessary, and the terrifying part about it is that it will sell really well, despite being worthless, inciting them to lock more stuff behind it.

I understand that they are looking to make more money, but this is such a terrible way to go about it.

I choose to believe that re-monetisation was inevitable, and that this is perhaps preferable to f*cking loot crates and seasons and all the rest of the sh*tshow.

However - I better start seeing some value for money.

I now view GTA online like a hot woman. I have become so invested in her that I don't acknowledge that she treats me like sh*t. She turns up late or doesn't turn up at all, promises things but doesn't fulfil them, and says things that I disagree with that I blindly tolerate.

Because she's so hot we let her treat us like sh*t until she eventually dumps us. However, we don't let other, less hot chicks treat us like this, nor anyone else for that matter.

Stop being so needy and invested in Rockstar+ and get a life. Rockstar is not the only chick on the block and you don't need GTA+, nor throwing money at her just to be treated like sh*t.

This is quite a crude comparison, but the way to get the hot chicks interested in you is to be enthusiastic but less desperate. At the moment, Rockstar plans on using GTA+ to treat us like THEIR desperate bitch.

Hey I love watching AJ + Jim Sterling but GTA V is 1 of the few things I put as a black mark against them.

They call out other games to high heaven for sh*t MT's yet barely ever say anything about GTA despite it being 1 of the most profitable from them, not to mention how it's killed Rockstar's interest in giving SP anything noteworthy post-release.

There's a very real chance L.A Noire from a decade ago now will be the last ever game that involves Rockstar to receive a SP expansion.

And sure as anything after a couple of days both of them still haven't released a single thing on this.

Joe in particular I'm disappointed with because he absolutely hammered Fallout 1st when it arrived, this offers much less, comes many years later into the game's life than that did and is in a game that needs extra revenue less than any game in existence.

This is 1 of the most insulting + unnecessary attempts at extracting extra cash from a fanbase we have ever seen in console gaming, if AJ + Jim Sterling want to rightly bemoan disgusting business practices then they should have been all over this straightaway, otherwise Joe's rants at Madden, Fallout 76, Halo Infinite etc or Jim's general disgust with Triple-A titles constant attempts at bleeding fanbases dry?

They just ring a little bit hollow if they're going to go on these crusades about this sort of stuff yet don't ever put GTAO in their spotlights, 1 of the worst offenders yet easily the most successful with it.

I stopped listening to Joe when he claimed that the only people who had a problem with Battlefield were "mAgA nAzI sExIstS".
Screw anybody who would use that type of BS rhetoric to dismiss legitimate concerns and complaints about a game.

Not quite. Rockstar have pulled a stunt so that you can't respawn a car in a GTA race and allow a friend to drive it, as it won't have the HSW upgrades.

Like if getting a new entire city wouldn't be game changing, lot of new stuff to explore, I don't see this game like a Farming Simulator, at first I'm attracted by the open world aspect of GTAO, and I've spent 8.5k hours there.

For me its time for a new map really.

Yeah, it's pretty worthless. It's just providing early access and quick exclusive shark card deals (to pay for) on top of paying the monthly sub. Sorry, but nah, i make more than a megladon card a day.

Regardless of how many people on here, Twitter, Reddit, etc complain, R* is going to make millions from this.
