No "Fidelity RT" on Xbox Series S...

I play on Series S and there's only two graphics settings: Fidelity and Performance. Fidelity RT is missing. According to Microsoft, this console should fully support Ray Tracing...so where is that setting?

Not quite.

Series S isn't as powerful as the Series X. So, Series S doesn't have Performance RT; only PS5 and XSX

That's why it's the cheapest console. You get just enough of next gen tech but not quite as powerful.

All you get is blurrier shadows, lower resolution and lower framerate with the RT modes. Not sure why you would want that.

You don't get it, do you? As I said Microsoft says the Series S fully supports ray tracing and so does gta v. So why isn't it available

It doesn't matter what console you get, there is no ray tracing in GTA V E&E, it's just the Gen-Z way of saying "High Quality Shadows"¹. Reflections are still OG and only draw the map without props and NPCs. Also, set it to performance mode as Fidelity limits FPS to 30 on all consoles.

¹ I'll change my mind until someone actually proves that these shadows are ray traced, right now, it just looks like PC shadows but "more high quality"

Not at 30 fps not in this game. Series S is too weak to be on par with more expensive consoles

I know it isn't ray tracing dude. I've already written a review in that next gen rollout megathread. I just wanted the fidelity RT because that looks the best. I don't want to switch to performance mode because

1.) I only play singleplayer because I simply couldn't care less about that dumpsterfire gen-z bs called GTA Online.

2.) At 60 FPS the cutscenes look weird, and at times the audio and video gets out of sync. I don't want 60 fps in story mode. Although it makes driving and aiming easier, I don't care about that. Performance mode is for GTA Online tryhards or story mode speedrunners. That's it.

Maybe it has something to do with the 4K being upscaled on Series S, but native on the main consoles? There is no 4K on Performance mode, only 1080p, so clearly there is a difference in capability.

i mean if the series s can run metro enhanced edition there is *really* no reason it couldn't run gta 5 with just RT shadows, at the very least only in the 30fps mode

that mode doesn't seem to be worth it anyway though so not really a big loss, just play at 60

I feel stupid to reply to this, but there's no proof Series S doesn't have ray tracing. As it says on Kirsty's post above fidelity mode has ray tracing at upscaled resolution on Series S. Again it feels stupid to write the obvious but I can't help myself.

Bruh, you're the one that doesn't get it lol

I just told you why... THE SERIES S IS NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH TO DO PERFORMANCE RT, SO ROCKSTAR LEFT THAT OPTION OUT ON THE SERIES S VERSION OF THE GAME.

Yes, Microsoft said Series S can do RT and it does, but you get to play at a lower resolution with fidelity mode. If you want Performance RT, sell your Series S and get a Series X, simple.

Just look at the other modes:

Fidelity - highest quality with RT

  • PS5, native 4k @ 30fps
  • SX, native 4k @ 30fps
  • SS, upscaled 4k @ 30fps

Performance

  • PS5, upscaled 4k @ 60fps
  • SX, upscaled 4k @ 60fps
  • SS, native 1080p @ 60fps

Performance RT - hybrid of Fidelity and performance

  • PS5, upscaled 4k @ 60fps target
  • SX, upscaled 4k @ 60fps target

So next time you reply, make sure you know what you're talking about. 🤡 lol

There's no ray tracing. You'll just have to take word for it. I have a Series S console.

Prove. Specially, pay attention to the final of the tube near the floor. As you can see, the interior of the tube with the ray-tracing is in shadow, meanwhile with the "traditional shadow" even in ultra is still illuminated.
