What were you doing when GTA V first came out?

With an up coming Re-Re-release of one of the biggest games ever I found myself lost in thought that GTA 5 is 9 years old, I also though , “why not see how much time I’ve played”

I’ve logged over 1200 hours in GTA online  just on PS platforms, I can’t find the number for my time on Xbox, unfortunately and I have no clue about how much time I’ve spent in single player  

Definitely more than I’d like to think. 

So with that thought bubbling away deep in my mind, I thought why not see what everyone else was doing all that time ago, be it buying it day one or years after release, 
have you bought it multiple times? 
Where you even old enough to play it? 

I myself was a day one pre order buyer, was actually the first game I pre ordered. 
it was a perfect day, I was a second year apprentice and we’d just been rained off for the day. 
taking full advantage I picked up my pre order at 9am and proceeded to have my feeble mind blown by a game I never thought would last this long, I still lived with my parents and had not long owned my first car. 
 

Now days I’m a completely different person, gone are skateboards and late nights, replaced with early mornings, long works hours and games when I can squeeze them in.
I’m curious to see how everyone else has seen everything change around them, accept one damn game

On these forums witnessing madness either with people discovering things, or spoiling and leaking the story to everyone, or whining about random things. It was just pure posting madness - I didn't buy it because I didn't own a console but I did play it on console after a while. Then got it on PC officially.

I remember being on GTAForums and seeing a picture of murdered Michael. I thought it was fake.

 

At that time I wasn't aware that somebody spoiled one of the endings.

When Sony first accidentally leaked the whole game 3 weeks early and audio clips from the game's dialogue started leaking all over, referring to big spoilers such as Michael's or Trevor's death, "fun" times.

I was in middle school when GTA V first came out. I wasn't allowed to play any M-rated game until I was 18.

I was in high school, watching the gameplay footage on the computers and trying my best not to spoil it for myself. Then I picked it up a few days later on Friday and had a lotta fun till I read on the forums that it wasn’t the best and I was like “hmmmm they make a point”

 

That was so long ago and the game just came out again lol

I can relate man, 100% only I was in high school back then. I’ve only been playing GTA for like the past six years. I also couldn’t stand it back when I was in elementary school. Funny how times change, isn’t it?

Life was good. I was fresh out of high school. I could've been anything, but I decided to spend the next decade sh*tposting here about how much I hated the game. Time well spent I might add.

I was in high school. I remember wagging my first class and going to EB games to have a look at the cover. Of course I couldn't afford it. I spent computer lessons that day looking up the game and all its Easter eggs, reviews etc. Didn't get to play it myself until Christmas that year. Good times

When the first GTA V teaser dropped, I had just woken up. It was a foggy morning. My window all the way open, oh I loved it. I turned my computer on and saw the trailer...my heart probably skipped a few beats, dude... I was the happiest person on the planet. I was genuinely happy. It was nothing but honest joy that I felt. I re-watched the trailer 208311891 times and checked GTAForums and everyone was speculating, everyone was going absolutely nuts; I remember thinking the dude in the suit was Tommy Vercetti, lol. I miss those times. Your question, however, was what I did when the game came out. I was at school and that day I didn't care about nothing. I just wanted to pick the game up. That's all I wanted. I was a happy person. I'll never feel the same way ever again.
