When can we expect missions for this? Or are you working on some other things first?

College has been a pain in the ass for me recently. I'm taking things slow for now. I did write a first mission already but I'm not entirely proud of it. I'll rewrite it sooner or later.

I can wholeheartedly sympathise with you on both counts. Probably best not to post anything until you're completely happy with it. Just not be careful not to procrastinate too much and don't overthink it on the re-write since it'll probably be obvious to the reader and fly a bit over their heads.

I saw this fresh new concept yestersay, but sadly had no time to comment and I gotta saw it's so brilliant, the characters, map, weapons, activities etc. Probably, my second favorite concept with first being Family Ties from MOB. Also, checked the gta wiki fandom you wrote a whole backstory of the new protagonist Gennadi Zhukov I enjoyed reading it so much. I am looking forward to this and can't wait to read each of the missions comming out, similar to Family Ties hehe. Man if only this was a real mod or even better an official DLC.. ufff... I would jump like a psychopath maniac up and down of happiness lol :dozing:  anyways, thanks to everyone who made this concept happen I love you ❤️

MISSION #1 - A CALM NIGHT

Mission Giver: Introduction mission

The intro begins with the camera showing a rainy evening in Broker. We see a wiseguy standing nearby the riverside in Beechwood City, pleading for his life. A slim, old-ish looking guy, clad in a cheap gray suit jacket, white undershirt, black pants and elegant shoes, aims a Chuvashin Soviet Pistol at him and packs a swift bullet into his forehead. It's Gennadi Zhukov, of course.

GenaIntro1.PNG

As the gunshot plays in slow-motion, the camera goes black. We see a montage of various shots of many places of Liberty City and Alderney. The theme tune starts playing in the background. The cinematic shows some characters doing certain actions:
-Niko and Little Jacob driving a Roman's Taxi through Schottler at high-speed.
-Marko and Adam Dimayev meeting Lenny and Kenny Petrović at a parking lot in Fortside.
-Gennadi pulling the body of said wiseguy.
-Salvador gunning some police officers with a Stubby Shotgun in Northwood.
-A drunk Vadim holding a beer bottle yelling at Pyotr who yells back, at the back of his house in Hove Beach.
-Gennadi resting against a shovel overlooking the water and smoking a cigar.
-Sergei, Andrei, Maximov and a few other Russian goons hanging out in Perestroika, watching a Russian folk rock band play a song.
-Johnny polishing his Hexer in front of the Lost MC clubhouse
-Gennadi putting the shovel into the trunk of a black Oracle and moving behind the wheel.
-Ray Bulgarin and Timur sitting inside the Blue Ghawar, sharing a drink and looking over the window.
-Wilbert resting on the rooftop of his apartment in South Bohan.

-A black helicopter flying over Wilbert, the camera pans inside to show Eduard Borodin as the passenger, looking at the city from above and smirking. The camera zooms away from the helicopter, back onto Broker.
-Gennadi driving the Oracle through Outlook, with Luis driving the opposite way in a Super Diamond. Gennadi curses him for almost hitting him. He arrives at Perestroika. Cutscene fades, with the "Grand Theft Auto IV: The Russian Roulette logo" appearing on the screen as the camera moves upward.

GTA4_TRR_LOGO_PERESTROIKA.png

Gennadi is seen entering Perestroika. There's many people sitting inside, some slowly approach him and talk to him as he enters.

Andrei: Hey Gennadi!
Vadim: Gena, Gena, nice to see you, how's things?
Gennadi: All good, all good, my friend.
Sergei: It's my brother Gennadi, how was the hit?
Gennadi: Went smooth, like always.
Maximov: Ey, Zhukov, meet Monica, beautiful ain't she?
Gennadi: Good luck with that idiot, my dear.

Maximov flips him off. Next we can see Gennadi vibing and dancing to K109 Studio in the backroom. Faustin and Dimitri enter, with the former facepalming and looking away from him, while the latter points at him with his hand and asks: "Gennadi, shto za khuynia?" (Gennadi, what the f*ck?)

gena_vibing.PNG
Gennadi: Oh, you know Dima, just been waiting for your arrival.
Faustin: He's an idiot. A fool. A joker. You really think he's fit to be this high up? If it were for me I would shoot him here and now if I had a gun.
Gennadi's bright smile turns into a slightly somber frown.
Dimitri: Mikhail, please, calm down. Gennadi is our best man, let me prove it to you. You wasted that guy for us?
Gennadi: Nobody will find him ever again.
Dimitri: See? He's got his uses!
Faustin, points at Gennadi: Your sense of humor irritates me, but you have balls. You're not a pushover. Unlike Dimitri. (Dima looks to the side sombrely)
Gennadi: Gee, thanks boss. (he says it with some irony in his voice)
A drunken Vlad emerges inside.
Vlad: Hey boys, errr... excuse me. What hour is it?
Dimitri: We're going back home. Need a lift?
Vlad: If Gennadi doesn't mind... ha ha, what a funny name.
The crew leave, with Gennadi shoving Vlad carefully, he laughs some more. This marks the ending of the intro cinematic and you're transported into gameplay.

Vlad: Drop me off at my bar, alright?

Get in the car.

As you enter, the radio will be automatically turned to Vladivostok FM and Kino - "Spokoynaya Noch" will start playing.

unknown.png

Drive the crew to Comrades.

Gennadi: You serving this night, Vlad?
Vlad: Haha, we already drank enough this evening. I gotta get some sleep! I got a date tomorrow.
Gennadi: Man, I thought I could get a drink and the party's already over. What a shame.
Dimitri: I told you many times, Gennadi, don't drink during work.
Gennadi: Dima, Dima, don't be the voice of reason, haha. I know what I'm doing.
Dimitri: Sure you are.
Faustin: Would you all stop yapping for a second? I got a horrible headache.

After dropping Vlad off:

Vlad: Spasiba, Gennadi! Drop by later if you find the time!

unknown.png

Drive Faustin and Dimitri to Faustin's house.

Faustin: Drive as quick as you can. I don't know how long I can do without.
Gennadi: Without what?
Faustin: Without the blow, you fool. Ilyena better stay quiet this night, I'm not in the mood to spend time with her.
Gennadi: I hope Mrs. Faustin is doing fine.
Faustin: For all I care you can take her out.
Dimitri: What?!
Faustin: Out the house, you chump! I need my f*cking coke, right now!

At the house:
Gennadi: See you around, Mikhail. Greet your wife from me.
Faustin: No thanks to you, you Siberian lowlife. (leaves car) I got a few errands to run as well, so drop by later, will you? Thanks.

unknown.png

Gennadi: Where next, Dima?
Dimitri: My house, where else?

Drive Dimitri to his house.

Dimitri: Gena, this is really getting out of control.
Gennadi: What is? Your dick outta your pants? You're spending too much time with Faustin's wife, haha.
Dimitri: Haha, your sense of humor is always the same, always like a child. No, I mean Mikhail. Making a lot of noise, getting into the wrong crowd. To tell you the truth, I don't think we are the same who we were when we came to this country.
Gennadi: Surely we aren't. I mean, we're living here since 15 years. Among other things I even lost my accent. Nonetheless, I heard Vlad has been having trouble with this one Serbian taxi driver. You think I should go down to his little depot and have a talk with him?
Dimitri: No, that shouldn't be necessary. Speaking of, I have some big things planned. Really big things.
Gennadi: I hope they're bigger than the content of your underwear.
Dimitri: Are you turning gay or something?
Gennadi: Who, me? Nah, Dima. I'm just worried about you and your fragile masculinity and sh*t. You know, with your charisma, even guys hit on you. I'd be careful if I was you! Hahaha...
Dimitri: Funny, very funny, Zhukov. Remember, we are your bosses though. A friend of mine is coming into town soon. A big figure in Europe. He says he's looking for some diamonds that were stolen off him and probably not only for them. I'm sensing a big opportunity for us, Gennadi. Me and you, we're going to the top.
Gennadi: I'm flattered. And Faustin?
Dimitri: He doesn't know nothing. And he shouldn't. This is just between you and me. So do us all a favor and keep your mouth shut.
Gennadi: My lips are sealed. To the top you're saying... sports cars, high-class ladies, Didier Sachs suits... the American Dream...

unknown.png

At the house:

Dimitri: Thank you, Gena. I'll speak to you soon.

Go to your house.

unknown.png

At the house:

You can save any vehicle in the parking place outside your safehouse.

This is Gennadi's house.

Sleeping on the bed will save the game and advance time by six hours.

You can use the wardrobe to change your clothes.

The bar is fully stocked. You can always head down there to have a shot of vodka, or a beer.

Watch the latest shows on TV.

You can use the laptop to access the Internet.
This is Gennadi's primary sidearm, the Soviet Pistol. You can always find it here in case you need a firearm for free.

The camera then fades and Gennadi respawns back in his bedroom, now wearing a black leather jacket instead of the suit top. Game comes back to gameplay.

Mission passed: 500$  (tune)

Contact points for Faustin (F) and Vlad (V) are available for you to choose. A few minutes into the game, you'll get an SMS message:

You have just received a text message. This is shown by the icon above the radar. This icon will notify you each time you receive a new text message.

1 Vadim
Heard you took care of that problem Dimitri wanted gone. Good. Drop me a call if you want to hang out. - Vv

THE MISSION WILL FAIL IF:

The car is wrecked.

Mikhail is dead.

Dimitri is dead.

Vlad is dead.

You abandoned the crew.

You die/get busted.

There are no fail calls though, and the mission simply restarts from the scene where they enter the Oracle.

Author's notes - I will probably update this mission and add more pictures. I'm currently missing one model I wanted to add, and that is a unique outfit for Vlad in a suit. I rewrote this mission slightly, the original was kinda simpler, with less cinematics, when me and my pals were tinkering around with the idea of it maybe becoming an actual mission-based mod. Special thanks to @Sergi4UA and @C1aude_III for trying their best with it, love you guys like brothers 🫀

@Jeansowaty - Nice first mission, bro, I can feel myself playing it all the way to my keyboard and mouse (even though I haven't played IV yet lol). Good stuff, can't wait to see the next ones! Keep it up!👍

Suggestion: You should add slight detail to free-roam as well, like what's possible at the start of the game or not etc. And about the ability to grab a drink from the safehouse... maybe you could throw in a special ability in there like that Steroids stuff @Datalvarezguy "implemented" in his concept, so drinking gives Gennadi slight edge over his foes but there are drawbacks too both during and after fetching a drop.

BTW after reading that part where Gennadi briefly passes by Luis during the intro I had an idea, maybe you could use this concept as a way of showing what Luis was up to as well before his official introduction during "Three Leaf Clover". I always found it slightly jarring how his side of IV's storyline starts up from the midst of the main one compared to TLAD. What do you think?

I'm glad you like it :) to be fair, the drinking feature is more of an excuse to allow the player to drink at their own leisure. I don't think there's any advantages to drinking alco haha. It's just a way for you to get the drunk effect without the need to hang out with your friends. As for what you can and what you can't do, I could do that... I was just thinking of introducing certain things in the concluding part of a mission, for example Marko's Car Thefts will be available after the first Faustin mission, but as is, from the getgo you can hang out with Vadim, Sergei and Marko, do gang wars (except for Algonquin and Alderney ofc.), or I would just write a reminder to the player that those side-tasks exist. Largely though, just think of what you can do in TLAD and TBOGT after passing the first mission, should be largely similar.

Luis to be fair makes only a cameo appearance in the intro to highlight that he is active in Liberty City, just like the other protagonists. I was thinking of integrating him in the story later as you work for Bulgarin, but by having a new protagonist who is not seen in either IV or its DLCs, it's just tough to come up with things, so ultimately he does not appear in the game except the intro/credits. Besides, I don't really think Luis could have anything to do with Gennadi/the Russians before they expand to Algonquin/Alderney.

Hmm, Datalvarezguy and @donnits have their concepts set outside Broker and Dukes, maybe you could discuss this idea with them?

So the thing is, TRR theoretically is able to take place elsewhere, as in, Gennadi has been a resident of LC since the 90s, you can freely trespass the bridges, but the Russians are centered around Broker early on. After a few missions, the world opens up. Gennadi's story kind of follows Niko's to a degree.

I don't know if they'd want Luis to appear prior to his introduction in the bank robbery. There isn't much we could do with him and we don't really wanna break what's already established about him. But to be fair you gave me some food for thought, what could he be up to before the robbery?

Exactly, he and G-Tony could be looking for investors but a rival club *cough*Bahamas Mamas*cough* keeps messing their deals up in one way or another which lands them on bad sides with their formerly-would-be investors. The story would be like "Club Wars" of some sort with Luis running around and finding ways to sabotage the enemy club, even going as far as befriending unknown and possibly hostile people (that are enemies to that bad guy club) to do it. Like in LCS. (speaking of which, TBoGT's story kinda resembles LCS' one lol)

Or maybe it could be something completely different, like an insanely elite client of Maisonette 9 bringing in heat to the club because he\she apparently has a price tag on his\her head? Think the Phil Collins missions from VCS.

I dunno, what I see ahead is something like OG TBoGT except like 4x longer and annoying. (Gracie and Evan would be present from the get-go and won't get shut up until Niko\Johnny intervene after a long while into the story, holy damn...)

Still, it's just a side thought, might as well scrap it and focus on the real stuff (like I'm doing with my MH3 fanfic). Again, wish you good luck with the concept.😉

I don't wanna steal donnits' spotlight here, but all I can reveal is the guy is working hard on making it look great ;) it'll come soon, don't you worry about it.

Anyway, hate to be the guy, but could I ask for a little review so far on the first mission? I'll be frank, it's not the top of my efforts, but it does give a brief outline of how Gennadi is like. I was trying my best to write a somewhat unique protagonist. Fitting the mold, but not an ISTP badass cold killer once more.

ALSO, have some promo-pics!!

You've caught me in the middle of writing one.

You've set up a great opening here.

I was hoping for an introduction with a video, as we've seen with Heavy Lies The Crown. But you've gone into a lot of detail with your description. I can literally see it play out in my head.

There are so many characters here to familiarise (and refamiliarise) myself with.

You have an interesting link between the Petrovics and Adam Dimayev. Both are involved in car theft. Are they setting things up here in the intro? I remember the Car Jack City mode in GTAIV online... this might be a nice nod to that.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this one... but you've got Eduard Borodin in a black helicopter. Black, of course, alludes to death. Clever.

It's very well done.

You also show us the opening scenario of Gennadi murdering a wiseguy and burying a body. Will we learn more about them?

Admit it. This is you jamming to Giorgio Moroder every time you work on this concept. :D

I really enjoyed your dialogue. A lot of it foreshadows things we actually see in GTAIV. I can pick out some examples.

Faustin is openly critical of Dimitri. We see this in GTAIV when Niko meets Faustin and Dimitri at Mikhail's house. There's a difference here though. Niko looks awkward and tries to distance himself from the argument. But Gennadi joins in. He openly mocks Dimitri. It tells me that Dimitri is thought of as a bit of a joke.

Here for example. We know what Dimitri has planned and how it takes shape - he has Niko kill Faustin and then sells Niko out to Bulgarin. He then makes an alliance with this top Russian gangster and begins to force his way to the top of Liberty City's underworld.

But Gennadi? He doesn't take Dimitri seriously. It shows me that he hasn't been given reason to in the time they've been working together.

Finally, I can't believe you've been questioning the quality of this. It's a very enjoyable introduction and I look forward to seeing more.

This is obviously a date with Mallorie... look how sharp his suit is!

You're going to write fail calls?! I can't wait.

Finally, I can't believe you've been questioning the quality of this. It's a very enjoyable introduction and I look forward to seeing more.

MUCH APPRECIATED, THANKS!! :D

Sadly, making a video is out of possibility knowing my workplace computer with Windows XP (I'm dead serious. But IV runs flawless on it at least. Just that I can't record it in extremely high quality.) Dimayev and Marko meeting Petrović is an interesting connection. I mostly put them because I wanted to show that the Russian crews work between each other and are less hostile towards one another than for example the Italian families. But your link is AWESOME. Holy crap. I never thought about that connnection but it makes a lot of sense. Borodin being in a black chopper and this being considered death is a great angle to think about. I mostly chose black because that was the color his chopper was in GTA IV. But the analogy still fits. Great eye.

About Giorgio, hahaha, you got me. It's true. I did however also want to show that unlike other protagonists, Gennadi is meant to be introduced as kinda goofy. But he obviously can be dead-serious and is still a murdering maniac, of course. The wiseguy? To be fair, no, I wasn't thinking of bringing that back any further. You could infer that it's some guy that owed money to the Russians and didn't end up paying it back in time. No one really important.

Gennadi does mock Dimitri but not because he thinks of him as a joke (well, to a degree), but mostly because they know each other since years and he doesn't fear him. He knows he can go over the line with some jokes and Dimitri won't fight back. It's mostly friendly banter at this point. Gena is good with jokes and has a playful demeanor, so expect him to crack jokes every now and then at his other Russian pals too. The socially awkward Dima doesn't really know how to respond to them.

And yep, Vlad spent the entire night partying in Perestroika and he doesn't even change out of his suit for the date. What a sleazball lmao.

Fail calls and dialogue is a thing I want to include for sure. It's something people never did and this is still a thing that exists in the game world. It's mostly for fun but imo helps the immersion.

Minor thing I wanted to let y'all know about, with the magical skills of @BrynnaDaRosa, I got Gennadi fully working with playerped anims! Something we thought would be impossible to get. This will help A LOT in taking pictures for the missions and whatnot. Have some examples of him in action so far :D big thanks for your help!!

Angry in gameplay, after being busted.

Awesome! Gena feels a lot more alive and looks twice more brimming with personality than Niko himself, great job. +5 points for that cool black jacket in the last screenshot. Neato.👍

You should tell @Datalvarezguy and @donnits to adjust their Sal and Will models like this too.😉 In fact, once all three models are "playerped"-ready, you guys could even release them all under the name of "Liberty City Nobodies - Lite Edition" or something like that as replacements for Niko, Johnny and Luis.😀

Oh they're in the works too! :D thanks for the feedback. We just need to wait for Brynna to give them a shot as well. Hopefully they'll turn out fine.

Little spoiler: we did consider releasing the characters as a package for people to use on their own as well. But many characters are still WIP so that will probably come later + some bonuses.

Nice, that's great. Hope to see more about the concept soon! Good luck.👍

BrynnaDaRosa

Will definitely be trying to get Sal 'n Willy to work before my 30 days of max runs out. I've had Gennadi rigged for a long time before we could get this working. 👍

He reminds me of my other favourite hitman... :p

More of this sexy character model can only be a good thing. And I'm jealous that those of you on PC can actually run around as these guys!

What are we looking forward to next? More missions soon? 😉

No updates for now friends... I'm very sorry. I'm in a kinda rough patch in my life right now, very busy. Hopefully I will be able to do more once July hits. In any case, have a bit of a promo picture... the three big bois of the Faustin Family ;) also, move along and read Heavy Lies The Crown and Of Blood and Loyalty in the meantime!!

You're truly a master of the dark arts when it comes to character modeling! Gennadi really looks like a lost beta character, as if you pulled him out of some hidden game files.

Keep up the good work man!

I am already liking this mod based on this concept. Amazing and fun read right there!

Awesome job y'all!

Edit: Also these character models look really realistically realistic, it's like this project is an official thing by Rockstar. Again, awesome job! 10/10 mod.
