Character Transfer

I pre-downloaded GTA V Online for PS5 this morning. Is there anything I have to do on the PS4 version now or when it the new version releases on 3/15 to transfer my characters progress? Or does it just do it automatically?

Maybe they should put up a reminder soon on the console loading screen news ticker to remind those who want to upgrade? If it's not there already that is, I'm not on console.

i'm worried about the one time transfer

 

a few of my friends and me did the transfer for ps3 to ps4 for one time transfer

 

its obv that it i wont be able to transfer to ps5 due to one time transfer but i have to find out in march 15

This may have been addressed already and if so apologies…. Can you transfer from Xbox one to PS5 or just Xbox to Xbox etc? 
 

I’m leaning toward buying the ps5 when I can find one, just curious.

You can transfer from XB1 to PS5. However, shark card money can only be transferred within the same system. IE PS4 to PS5 or XB1 to XBseries

I remember last time, it was unclaimed Shark Card money that didn't transfer from different families.

This worries me as well. I hope it goes smoothly. I hate having to do stuff like this.

I imagine it will work similar to the previous migration - it will ask you to confirm character transfer through the pause menu via social club. Check details obv before you confirm and READ everything before you confirm transfer, happy days.

People need to understand the wording. "One time transfer" - literally means you can transfer your character once and once only so if you're migrating to a different system family (Xbox One --> PlayStation 5) think hard and carefully before you do as let's say 6 months down the line you go back and decide to get a Series X, you cannot then transfer your progress.

I can understand why R* have implemented this policy, but you do need to make sure your choice, if you're still unsure maybe hold off migration a while longer until you decide.

dont think i'll be able to transfer due to these two thing

the first one well PS3 to PS4 transfer?

 

and the 2nd dont think i helped my friend before for the glitch (i dont do glitches but i help my friend) but however it's likely will end up false flagged detection for legit player or help friend or anything

im not going to post some known glitch here as per the rules of gtaforums don't allow it

Welp looks like pretty much any person who has touched gta since 2013 wont be able to transfer. Billonaire day stats that never got reset and such. I wonder how they determine "illegitimate"

That is a worry. My profile shows $billions from back in the XBOX 360 days when there was The Great Money Drop, where a hacker ran around GTAO giving everybody billions of GTA dollars. It was all removed but we were notified at the time that anything that we had already bought could be kept.

 

I hope that this doesn't cause problems. I'll be retiring it if so.

how far do you guys think the illegitimate progress stretches? I want to bring my PS4 character to PS5 and like pretty much every gta online player ive done many dupe glitches, money glitches etc. But i havnt been on in over 2 years, am i safe?

Nope. All your progress is tied to that one account so the moment you make a new one on the PS5 it'll automatically start you as a brand new player in gtao on that account.

This didn't cause a problem for the last gen transfer so I doubt it'll cause one this time around. Rockstar already clarified back then (when they adjusted the balances of everyone's account due to the billionaire bounties) that the people on PS3/360 who got all that money dropped on them weren't in the wrong as they had no control over it, hence why R* went ahead and adjusted everyone's bank accounts accordingly a few weeks later AND let us keep everything we already bought with that money. The absolute chads.

This is a different one time transfer. It doesn't include the last gen transfers when they mention one time only migration so you're good to go.

ah good to know

 

but only one thing is im worried about the detection of "Illegitimate progress" but i forgot i have one dupe vehicle sitting in my garage so i got rid of it by buying a free vehicle and replace it and never sold a dupe vehicle (its because i helped my friend before and im not happy for it)

 

my other friend is going to test in his new account to test all the following list without the glitch but legit just to test for the detection when gta 5 online get released in march 15

- buy same vehicle and sell same vehicle ( highly likely this will get detected maybe?) (this is common that players like to sell their own vehicle and to get the new stuff)

- lifeguard truck vehicle (spawn at beach but require a purchased lifeguard) (don't think this is sellable or not but dupe or detected maybe?)

- not sure what else to test to see if it get detected for Illegitimate progress without the glitch (what i mean is by doing a legit stuff)

Are you trying to say that because you transferred from PS3 to PS4, you won't be able to transfer from PS4 to PS5? Because that's not the case at all, as @Rvfae said.

Yep, me too, the billionare days, when all you had to do was be online and you got money drops, my account hasnt been clean since then,  I am too am little concerned.

Well, a handful of money wipes later , my account has been clean since the locate a plane money wipe, all earnings legit up to this point, no stored car dupes or anything.

i hate transfer so much, so many things can go wrong.

 

ill give like 12 hours once the game go live to give time for people to report back any issues if any, before i move on with the transfer.

 

one thing i'd love to see is them blocking the transfer for the obvious modded accounts, the other day i was kicked from a race and the game dropped me into a public session and the amount of lvl 8000 was too damn high.

Im saying when you transferred from last gen to current gen back then there was no illegitimacy check. had nothing to do with billionaire days. it wasnt uncommon for people to mod up accounts and then transfer them with money/rank/and cars. it was one of the main ways to get custom worn colors for example. The game never rejected transfers due to illegitimacy. this is a new check it seems they have put in place for xb1 and ps4 to xsx/s and ps5 and who knows what it actually means. its not always money people might get illegitimate, if you want to have worn colors there were illegitimate ways of obtaining and transferring those in the past (which shouldnt even have to be a thing i swear if E&E doesnt have all 161 colors in LSC im gonna flip especially since they added 5 trash chameleon colors, its the perfect time to add all colors)

always some worry when it comes to transferring character over as so much can go wrong. These rumours about characters that aren't legit not being moved over sound scary though.. What if someone did a car dupe and sold it to make money? Can R* track that sort of information? 

 

People talking about billionaire days on ps3/360 days but I doubt that factors in as characters have already been moved over to ps4/xb1 after that.
