Has it been confirmed if the free version of GTA E&E will be free to keep forever after its downloaded? I know PS5 users get to download it free for the first few months but do we get to keep it forever is the question?

Unconfirmed currently, but I expect it to be much like a typical PS+ game and do long as you have Plus, you'll be able to play beyond the 3 months.

 

We'll just have to wait for more info. :)

If that's an official wording, it's pretty clear. Claim it for free in the first three months and you will keep it in your library till either R' oder Playstation will shut their services down.

So long as you 'purchase' it for free WITHIN THE FIRST THREE MONTHS as the asterix points out, it is yours so long as you have a PS+ subscription in the same way as all PS+ games have worked since the PS3 days.

Gta online standalone will be free to buy and keep if you buy it for PS5 in the first three months, not E&E itself

The small print part was at the bottom of the link quoted above I believe, PS+ recurring fee's apply to get access after claiming it free.

 

Technically it is free, but we need to buy PS+, much like the usual monthly PS+ games. That's my take on it.

 

Don't get me wrong, anything is possible as gaming moves forward, and with T2 of course, lol. But the way these PS+ monthly games has been what can only be a good success for both Sony and those companies allowing their games for free on PS+, as it's been ongoing for years now, and often games with MTX/paid DLC, I don't think this'll be any different. It's just a way to trick people that it's free and they then may buy some extra MTX knowing they saved money on the initial cost. Win/win for both Sony and R*.

 

Just strikes me as one of those 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' type scenarios as these free PS+ games often drive up MTX/paid DLC sales on games.

 

I know we'll need PS+ to access online anyway, but with PS+ 'free' games, we can't share them between multiple profiles on the same console, so if (for example) my son wants to play GTA:O E&E on my PS5, he won't be able to as a secondary user using my copy like he can with fully bought/owned games, so he'll have to get PS+ too to get his own copy 'free'.

 

I think they'll do like RDRO standalone for Xbox too, list price of say £20, but an initial promotion of 75% off/£5 to get the ball rolling. To me, the only odd thing would be is if PC gets it free, PS too, why Xbox gamers would be the only ones paying even if it is just £5, lol.

Surely this has been answered before, but If I don't have a PS5, can I claim this "free" GTAO from my PS4 and then have it for if in the future I buy the new console?

 

Also I don't want to lose all my progress, I'm not sure if this progress transfer will be forever, maybe I would need to see if any friend with a PS5 could do me the favor of letting put my account on their console to complete the character transfer

I'm pretty sure they've figured this out. I don't think you can access PS5 content on a PS4, you'll need someone with a PS5 to log into your account and claim it there. I didn't see how long they'll keep transfers open, but it's probably for another few years.

Wrong.

 

Download the PlayStation app and you can 'purchase' any PS4/5 game on PS+ for free so it's in your library, meaning it will be there when you eventually get a PS5 if you don't have one yet. If you haven't done this you've missed out on a year and a half of PS5 games!

I'm beyond super excited for this. 30FPS is just amazing, it's going to blow peoples minds. Even more so when the Ray Tracing makes the water puddles so much shinier. Definitely worth paying 50 bucks for again, again.

Free to keep, you'll need PS+ but this really shouldn't be a problem for many of us who currently play on PlayStation as you need a PS+ subscription anyway to play it so...yeah
