Will gta5 online still exist after gta6 online releases

Gta 4 existed after gtaonline so id say yes, for a little while atleast.

I would wager that GTA Online will still be running even after the next GTA game comes out, at least for a few years. Then they'll shut it down to push everyone to Online 2 or whatever they call it.

This. If you think they've squeezed enough into online on the old consoles, imagine how far they can push it on next gen.

 

Also people have invested far too much time and real money into online for rockstar(take2) to scrap it.

I won't be surprised if whenever 6's online version debuts, it ends up having players start over from scratch. 5's online will linger around for awhile but it won't be here forever as we saw with them closing the ps3/360 servers. However, much like guessing what e&e will bring that's new, we don't know for sure.

They called it GTA Online and not GTAV Online which means online is not limited to GTA V.

I hope it is a fresh start with a fun bonus for those who played the current Online. Rockstar will probably just give us a T-shirt though.

I wouldn't be against that so long as we keep the same session type options (public, private, invite only, etc)

Yes we're starting all over, yes it'll be a completely new game, nothing will carry over, yes we'll get a small thank you bonus, yes GTA 5 online will exist after GTA 6, no it will not receive updates once gta6 starts getting steam and steady revenue.

I would like to think GTA Online will evolve into what other Online games are. Who says it's limited to San Andreas? I imagine your progression would carry over to other locations.

With an overhaul you could simply 'catch a plane' to a new location, say Liberty City for example and then play in that city. Obviously it would require a lot of work, but again this is just a theory.

theres nowhere left for online to in its current guise. It’s been amazing, kept me entertained for years, and still does. But the toxicity is all around now. People are bored, have more money than they can ever spend. We all need to start over,

In an ideal world every map of the new GTA games will be merged into the massive open-world GTA Online, from the swamps of Vice City to the always snowy mountains of North Yankton.

that's exactly why they called it gtaonline and not gta5online, rockstar have said for a while how they want an ever expanding standalone online world. I imagine e&e and gta6 online will bring the big map expansions
