Hi all, sorry if this question has been asked before, but as the title implies; should real celebrities make a cameo or play a role in VI?

I remember when Phil Collins himself made an appearance in VCS I was like HOLY sh*t THIS IS AMAZING but now with gta online, after the real life DJs and moodyman and dr dre, I dunno if I’m as excited as I was back then with Phil Collins. The appearances of the celebrities in Online seem very forced and hammy, like they don’t really add any substance other than “holy sh*t dr dre hit a guy with a golfclub”. It’s like rockstar is, for lack of a better term, just sucking up to them. Not

only that, but rockstar has a lot of fictional celebrities they could have used instead of real ones like in the recent DLCs. Why not MC Clip or Pathos instead of Dr Dre, for example? Or even the guys from love fist!

But then again, times have changed since the days of VCS, maybe people want more appearances from celebrities thatre relevant nowadays, I don’t know. What do y’all think?

i don't know any celebs or care about them. i rather have unique characters than some stupid sh*theads that think they're all high n mighty

I like the occasional celebrity cameo but I'd rather they play a character and not play themselves. It always bugs me that GTA has it's own brands, pop culture, and city names but still has all the exact same singers, rappers, and musicians as us. I can get passed it for the sake of having real songs on the radio but when those celebrities show up as physical fully, canon characters it just pulls me out of the story.

Characters in the story who can die, do something bizarre, do some stupidity, some controversy - of course not, it will just be inspiration.
Character to promote, something special or to promote yourself - possibly yes

I am saying nay. Real celebrities in GTA have always been weird for me. Yes, even Phil Collins. I am okay with real people being mentioned (like Reagan and Mao in VC or Hitler in SA) but they definitely shouldn't appear in a physical form.

I hope not. Not a fan of Dre being included in The Contract DLC at all. Cameo in Cayo was fine. Didn't like how they made it look like everyone in the game worshiped the ground Dre walked on. I guess no big name would want to be included if they were going to be satirized.

If it makes sense like Lazlow who, for the record, no one really knows outside of Grand Theft Auto, sure. Another example is GTA: IV's comedy clubs. It worked.

I'm sort of indifferent to Dre's addition. It's cool, I guess.

After typing all of that I came to the conclusion that I don't really care. Does anyone really care? I just want another game.

I like it when celebrities voice characters that aren’t them, more so when it is a parody of them/the genre they’re in but I’m not a fan of them playing themselves in a serious way.

It was really nice to have Phil Collins in GTA VCS, so I'm not against seeing celebrities in the game. However, it's not necessary. If Rockstar wants the player to feel privileged to be around famous people, they just have to write a fake celebrity and put his face on billboards, TV Shows etc. Moreover, it allows Rockstar to do everything with this character; a real celebrity might not want to be mock.

I think, that Rockstar is good enough at creating their own celebrities, they don't need real ones to appear in the game. Perfect example for this is Love Fist in GTA Vice City.

No, but there could always be some parodies of existing ones. I'm sure Rockstar can pull that of.

Not really. I'd rather have parodies of said celebrities than real ones, it makes the universe richer and more interesting in my opinion. But I'm fine with them only appearing on the radio as DJs or just as voice cameos, nothing too fancy.

MARKUS.

Don't know if the contract DLC could be an open door for including real celebrities in the future

But for the love of God, please R*, don't include Rosalia.

Yes, I don't mind them. From what I've seen with Phil Collins and the celebrities in the comedy club in GTA IV I thought they were okay.

No,I prefer seeing fictional GTA universe celebrities like Jack Howitzer, Love Fist, Madd Dogg, Al DiNapoli and Lacey Jonas over real life people like Phil Collins or Dr. Dre,having real life people appear in game kinda kills the immersion of being in this fictional universe, not to mention that all the real life celebrity appearances in GTA Online feel forced and overplayed.I'm okay with radio DJs being celebrities who play fictional versions of themselves, and talking about musicians who's songs are on the radio, maybe having a performance you can visit if you want to (such as Phil Collins concert in VCS or the comedians in GTA 4),but I think it's best if real people don't appear in missions.

If they were exectued the same way Phil Collins was, sure. If we were about to get somebody like Moodymann (great DJ IRL though, just his GTAO rendition is motherf*cking annoying), then defo no.
