Homing launcher not guiding?

So, this is an issue I've been having for some time now, but I've only decided to try and sort it out now after getting my a** blasted with homing missiles all day.

 

My homing launcher locks on to any target, players, ped cars etc (targeting is set to "Everyone") but for some reason the missiles don't guide on to any target it locks on to. It makes me think that this is how the mechanic is supposed to work, but if so what's the difference between this and the RPG? I'm sure this isn't how they're supposed to work because people shoot homing launchers at me all the time and they always guide directly to me, but not mine? This has been happening over the span of multiple devices, so I'm sure it's nothing to do with my files. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hold LB, move the stick to homing launcher, click rb until you get to rpg, then point it at the ground and blow yourself up.

Maybe change the targeting to something other than everyone.

The tracking on the homing launcher isn't that great, especially for moving ground vehicles.

Try aiming for a helicopter (there's always one at LSIA), and make sure that the tracking indicator is red. That's all you can do.

 

If people easily kill you via tracked missiles from vehicles (ground or air) that's because their tracking is superior to that of the handheld one.
