fred
Well, I've read through the Pinned! topic, and I've had a quick look around in here, aswell on the Take2games support site, but all with no result. So, as I play VC PC, everything's running fine. A little slowdown on my computer, as its not the best, but it meets the minimum spec. Occasionally I get the bug where the textures don't load when driving fast, but I've got the solution for that. But, whenever I come into contact with water in the game, the graphics go very odd. Usually caused by rain (so I installed the sunshine mod to reduce that), the sky goes odd and parts of my hud disappear. As you can see, the money, wanted level, weapon, etc, basically everything except the time have gone from the hud, and also the radar has no markings. This also happens if I knock over a fire hydrant, walk through a swimming pool, or most annoying of all, use a boat, rendering certain missions extremely different to complete. I have contacted Take2games support, and am still as of yet awaiting a response. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My computer specs are as follows: Intel Celeron 1.7GHz 128 MB DDR RAM 40 GB HDD (30 GB free) 16X - DVD ROM 32 MB S3 ProSavageDDR Graphics Card Onboard Soundcard Windows XP Not great, but its only a week old, upgraded from a: Pentium II 400MHz 64 MB RAM 6 GB HDD 4 MB ATI RagePro Graphics Card The only mod installed is the Sunshine Mod, as previously mentioned. Many thanks in advance.

fred
Thanks, I know my computer isn't the best, but I'm looking for a solution to this problem that doesn't involve buying anything new, other than some RAM which I'm getting anyway to try and help the low fps... shurcool
just in case you missed it, maybe it'll help... S3 Pro Savage, Savage 4 and Savage 2000 video cards:We found these video cards have missing texture problems in 16 bit color which are cured in 32 bit color, so we suggest using these video cards in 32 bit color. if not, i guess it is your video card, since the other guy w/ same card has same problems. the only solution to that is to wait for an official response from R* or get a new video card. good luck to you. Thanks, I hadn't seen that. But, that is for the textures not loading problem, and it comes with a solution. To everyone else, no, I am not going to get a new graphics card. @korpdeath, cool, please post your reply when you get it... I only sent my email off on Sunday. It does look like its our graphics cards though.
spinnie
I'm having the same problems whenever I try to play VC on my laptop (so a new card is out of the question anyways.) But I'd like to play vice while traveling the bus.. It's a "S3 Graphics Twister Fujitsu" with 32MB. The rest of the system should be plenty enough, 384 MB, 1.2GHz CPU and all that jazz. Just those Vidcard probs Hope someone finds a workaround someday.
fred
It looks as if it's our crappy S3 gfx cards... Hopefully R* will give us a nice patch or something...
Auto-Thefty
Dude, just get a cheap $50 GeForce 2. It'll actually run it and play other games much better. R* isn't going to do anything, mainly due to such a small portion of you people having Savage cards.
korpdeath
Dude.. I would get a cheap $50 GeForce 2, but then I would have to dish out another $50 for a power supply, which in the end would cost more than $100 and currently I'm broke as f*ck!!! So I'd rather see what R* says.

korpdeath
Got this today... Hello, Could you please send in the requested files. I was not able to view the previous file that you sent. To perform a more detailed examination of your PC and the problem you´re having, we´re going to require some more information about your computer in order to help you solve your problem. We will need to get two files, called DXDIAG.TXT and MSINFO32.NFO, to help check for any potential problems with the program and your system. Please answer the following questions completely: What is the full name of the program: ? What is the operating system for your computer? Does the title have the name globalstar anywhere on it: ? What is the detailed problem with the program: ? What is the complete detailed error message: ? If the program has any patches do you have any installed: ? Do you have any 3rd party mods, no-cd patches installed: ? How long have you had the program: ? It will also help us if you can send to us any and all screenshots of the error message along with the both DXDIAG & MSINFO32 data files. Please note that these system files are not on your system normally. You have to make them, then send them to us by following the instructions below to help us diagnose what the issue may be. To create a DXDIAG -> Click Start -> Run. Erase whatever is in the box and type in ´DXDIAG´.RUN THE TESTS offered on the Display tab and the Sound tab. Click on ´Save All Information´ and save the file to a place that you can find it later (the desktop is a good place). Attach it to an email, and send it back to us with MSINFO32 shown below. To create a MSINFO32 -> WINDOWS XP USERS: PLEASE READ BELOW for an important note about the type of file needed. Put the game or program cd into the cd-rom drive then do the following below... Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type ´MSINFO32´ Without the quotes and then click OK. This will bring up the Microsoft System Information window. Click on File, then choose "Save" or "Save as System Information File..." NOTE - WINDOWS XP USERS: Windows XP users, the file type you need to save the MSINFO file as is "5.0/6.0 System Information File." Now where it says ´File name´ type in MSINFO32, and on the top where it says Save in make sure it says ´Desktop´. Now click on "Save." This may take a few seconds to complete, and your disk drives may make some unusual sounds, but this is normal. Reply back to this e-mail with the DXDIAG.TXT and MSINFO32.NFO file as attachments and the complete problem you are having with the program. For those of you with slower connection speeds, you may wish to compress these files into a single archive, such as a ZIP or RAR file, to quicken your e-mail transfer. NOTE: Windows 2000 users remember when you first open MSINFO32, you must click first on System Information, then the ´Action´ button on the top left menu bar, then click on ´Save as System Information File..." Please send us both files and in a short time we will inform you of our research after examining your system files. Hope this helps! Every time I approach the water, or it starts to rain in the game, the game's textures start sticking, and fuzzing together... I have tried the patch to no results and I've also tried other fixes and still got no results. I have attached the analysis for Vice City, and a picture of my problem. -Dave T ------------------------------------------------------------ I sent the files and answers they wanted back about an hour ago, so I don't when I'll get a response, but I'm guessing not anytime soon.
