Holy balls Badsport is the most toxic place I have ever seen

Very weird, never been here before, and I got put into it after a skillbike blew me up.  I had been hunting skillbikes and throwing stickies at them so I know I blew up several [hilarious that something with infinity lockon missiles can be considered a PV but I digress].  Got blown up by said skillbike and respawned with a dunce cap on.  I think I may have gotten him with my last sticky and it exploded when he exploded my car.

 

Interestingly, I was in the regular lobby when that happened, so I guess the next time you change sessions you're in with the baddies.  Let me tell you--it is hell on earth.  Tryhards everywhere, at least 50% godmoding and talking sh*t over the microphone when they literally cannot be killed.  I put 4 heavy sniper rounds into a guy camping next to the casino who was just laying waste to everyone who showed up.  It's terrible.  So bad I'll go eat crow in RDRO for the next day and a half because it is just pure toxicity there.

Oh and btw I'm on PS4 too so the Godmoding was even more nuts.  You almost expect it on PC based on what I've read here, but it's really becoming a plague on console.  I've seen MUCH more of it lately in regular lobbies but it really is completely game breaking in freemode.  I spectated a few of these jamokes after calling muggers and Merryweather on them and to listen to them talk sh*t to other players not cheating when they would kill them was beyond pathetic

Never quite had the 'pleasure' of getting into a badsport lobby, but I totally agree that sometimes regular lobbies feel bad enough. Moreso recently too.

 

Question for you: do you think some of those badsports actually enjoy and even thrive in that environment?

@derek0514 I could but I'm not really trying to make money now got back up to the $13MM I had before Contract and am over that sh*t so just want to cruise in freeroam if in GTA - might as well take a few days' break and get re-depressed at the state of Red Dead [but I'll have a nice visual reminder for a few hours of how pretty the game is]

 

@Super Gran Turismo - I've been playing this game for a very long time and never been in badsport.  But can confirm it absolutely is a thing, and it's not one you want to experience

I was once back in 2013/2014 when it was stupidly easy to get there, like blow enough vehicles you can count on one hand! I'm glad they changed it since accidents can happen but whatever it is now is just ridiculously high!

I think it's still 50 PVs without any saving graces (contact missions and so on).

 

Me too btw, one bounced grenade at the start of a mission and I took out a couple PVs and boom, badsport. 2013 was wild.

 

I feel like 5 or 10 kills with a OPMKII should do it tbh. These players belong there.

Must have been at least two years ago, but I remember reading a post where someone said that if you take out enough NPCs, their vehicles and cops you can also get badsported. Does anyone know if this is true?

Deliberately went in there last year to see what all the fuss was about and it was a bit of an eye opener & that was before all these god mode glitches got so popular (Xbox).
TBH at least it is somewhere to shuffle most of these spastics to away from normal people in normal lobbies.

I can - came up with "Skillbike" because all the skill is in the bike. Highlighted most prominently with the addition of Imani Tech & the lock-on jammer - pity those cars have a distinct icon and the Skillbikes have learned to just not bother; was hilarious in the first couple of days watching them utterly fail to free-aim successfully even once, let alone the 10+ hits it would take.

It's funny that R* have never restored the Rhino to it's original glory, considering the plethora of overpowered, cheap-kill tools we now have - the Skillbike of course, but then the Lazer, Orbital Cannon, Kosatka Cruise Missle, Khanjali, Imani-Tech remote-controlled PVs, RC Tank & Bandito, Drones... and yet the poor old Rhino can still be taken out by small arms fire.

Agreed. Bad Sports is an anachronism from the early days of GTA Online when the public lobbies were nothing more than that, holdiing areas where people waited to join off-lobby jobs and other missions. The only thing to do was maybe customise one of the few cars available. 

 

Fast forward 8 years and the lobbies are where almost everything now happens, and that includes players having access to a lot of personal armed vehicles. The idea that you get a "Bad Sports" increase for shooting down some twerp tearing up the lobby in his personal Laser for example is perverse.

 

Same with backing out of races. The fact that 99% of races in GTA are a complete mess because of the incompetence and spitefulness of other players should not make any player who backs out of these crapfests a "Bad Sport"

 

I have been there a few times now, mostly for the above, backing out of races in frustration. I did what many players do, sit out the countdown timer in my apartment, whilst chaos reigned outside.

Honestly, these days I'm surprised that when I shoot someone that the actually falls over an dies.

 

Never been to official bad sport tho. Not sure if it even exists on PC. But from your description it wouldnt be diffrent anyway.

Yeah, for the races, it seems like they prefer the idiots who stay in the race, driving backwards around the track, than just quitting. This system encourages them to cause trouble. Ruining other people's races by driving backwards is cheating and ruins other people's experiences, yet you're NOT penalised for doing that. You're better off leaving the race, but you get penalised for that. In a game where you are meant to blow sh*t up, especially when given a vast collection of lethal weaponry, you are punished for blowing up someone's car? They can just get it back in less than a minute, and I pay for the insurance. Why give us a Hydra or Ruiner 2000 if we can't even use it? 

 

Here's another thing that doesn't make any sense. If you blow up someone's car, even if it's in self-defense and it's a weaponized car, you get slapped with BS points. But... you can f*ck up someone's grind for 2k without any BS points, because logic. I've never understood why blowing up cars gets you in bad sport. It's not like it's a massive inconvenience for players when you do. I honestly think it's quite funny when someone blow up my car and they get a 10k to 20k+ bill, and all I do is phone my insurance for a new shiny one. It saves me going to the mod shop or garage to get the dents taken out. And in every other area of the game, you are rewarded for being an utter annoyance to other players. Destroying a $1,000,000 delivery is encouraged. Blowing up a $1,000+ car is a crime. It just doesn't make any sense at all.

It really is hell. In my years of playing I've been sent there twice and it was definitely deserved. The first time was a long time ago and it was just jets everywhere. The second time was a year or two ago and most players were either in godmode (on foot and jets) and spamming orbital cannons.

I been put into badsports lobby once, after quitting too many races or whatever. Yeah it sucks being there, but it's easy enough to get out of it again.

 

Well if i notice i have choosen the wrong car in a race, or if the other players are ramming a-holes, i just quit. That brought me into bad sports yeah.

 

Honestly i barely noticed any difference compared to regular lobbies. On PC most sessions are toxic, because we don't have to pay money for destroying other ppl's cars. At least we can always fight back, and don't get punished for that.

 

It must be totally annoying having to pay money for destroying a broomstick that attacks you. Because godmode also exists on consoles i rather play on PC, at least yeah we can fight back unpunished.

There’s free aim lobbies and auto aim lobbies. How hard would it be to have pvp lobbies where everyone chases K/D til their hearts content, and ar the same time, there could be regular lobbies, with bad sport point tallies similar to previous years

 

several years worth of updates (bikers, crates, bunkers, import export) are all but unplayable because of the odds of getting attacked by bored kids on mk2s or laser jets.  Griefers who seem not the slightest concerned by hundreds of thousands of insurance costs per hour. And clearly not concerned by the lessening risk of bad sport sentences. So green light to ruin everybody else’s gameplay
