And that was also because of a new gameplay mechanic, first person mode. I don't think the current gen versions of the game have any significant new gameplay mechanics. They'll just look prettier and run better. Obviously there'll be under the hood tweaks and new features exclusive to the current gen consoles but that doesn't point towards any new major gameplay changes for V. The PS4 and Xbox One have a combined install base of 150/160m atm whereas the PS5 & Series X & S have about 30 to 40m combined. Could have sworn they didn't reveal any pricing details yet but yes continue... No doubt they want people to buy it again, it won't surprise me at all if they charge full price considering how substantial the last upgrade to V was. Also, 360/PS3 was a different case. They only had ~ two years of updates and then got dropped because of technical constraints, the PS4 and One have been getting updates for seven years and counting and they don't seem to be showing any technical constraints (for the most part). Either way, I do see updates for PS4/One stopping eventually as R* will want to use their full energy on developing updates exclusive to current gen consoles. In seriousness, I'll put my bitterness aside for the moment. Maybe I was wrong on the upgrade front, I simply just judged how it looked based on the screenshots, which look unchanged from the last version of the game. However, that hardly justifies another release imo, especially when the things that are supposedly new to this version (like 60fps and 4K) have been on PC for years. The way I see it, this whole thing just comes off as a cash-grab, made to squeeze even more life out a game that let's face it, is tired and exhausted. Maybe (and emphasis on maybe) if I see some gameplay footage in action, I'll change my mind, but I wouldn't count on it tbh. This is objectively wrong. GTAO is consistently getting more and more popular. I know I didn't touch it in last 10 months but the game is not even close to being tired or exhausted, you don't have to like it or play it to realize that. It's pretty much the de-facto game for anyone buying a new console. Besides, you're comparing the enhancement of twenty year old games to one of a modern triple A title, big big difference. If you wanna compare the next upgrade of V to anything, compare it to how they handled the last V upgrade which was terrifically handled, from the marketing to the final product. People worried about R* because of how the TDE turned out always amuse me as it was never even done by Rockstar themself. That's why they hardly marketed in advance like they always do with their other major titles.
