I can remember going to GAME UK to pick up my GTA V collectors edition on Sep 17th 2013 

 

Can't wait to do it all over again don't care about the price i'm buying the lot I'd say it will be around £300

I was at the midnight launch, for that. By the time RDR2 came around, I was all digital, except for physical collectors editions.

I had to get a half hour bus journey to town center, wait in line at GAME for about 50 minutes then get the bus back home only to find out they gave me a Xbox 360 edition of the game when i had a PS4.

Honestly their marketing is complete dogsh*t. I’ve rather them give us a 6 month pre launch announcement. And leave the delay internally within the company. It’s actually f*cking tiring to have a whole complete year of utter silence with drip feed like we are hamsters.  Then to say they need more time. Just let us know when it’s near ready. Stop telling us, show us.A year to a 6 month marketing plan won’t make a difference because it we’ll sell great regardless. Stop acting like you’re a upcoming indie company that needs a whole damn year to get your product to the eyes and ears of possible consumers. That “mysterious” bravado is long gone, they’ve managed to screw up a few things around the community.

What if the devs are on this forum and make a list of all our expectations so they can be sure they’ll excess all of them, but every time they’re ready, you guys come up with some new stuff and they have to cover that before the announcement?

They know we are all dying for info. so they build hype very slowly, also, they let us build the hype for them too. Their marketing is actually very good and very well planned. Just learn to wait for things to happen, lifes go on.

If anything we should already expect to wait two years in between the debut trailer and launch so the wait shouldn’t be that bad considering we’ve waited this long unfortunately

I was never too hyped about Red Dead Redemption 2 at first. Those cinematic trailers were released, I was like "oh, that's cool, probably gonna buy it one day after it comes out".

 

Then the gameplay trailer came out, and I became a fanboy, I couldn't stop talking about it. My friend told me I was obsessed .

 

Rockstar's gameplay trailers are simply something else, especially with that woman's voice in the background. Can't wait to see one for GTA VI.

lol, I don't think it was marketing bullsh*t. The 'bold new direction' was likely referring mainly to two things. In single plyer, it was the 3 protagonists w/ the live switching mechanic, and in multiplayer, it was Online which is truly a big new thing not only for GTA, but the whole online multiplayer space. No other game offers the same scope and content as GTAO. I think it's the actual 'bold new direction' for the V era. VI's Online will build upon it, but won't be a 'bold new' thing this time.

I disagree, with what they learned from GTAV's online they know what they're doing this time around. There's tons of improvements that can be made to GTAO, and I think VI's online will raise the bar for multiplayer games.
