Seems like that guy would complain about a movie being scripted too, like for real, R* is trying to tell a story, you can't tell a story without a story/script duh

He was such a bastard with this review, he says that he loves RDR1 and other Rockstar Games titles, but don't seem to remember they're scripted pratically just the same.

My prediction for GTA VI

80 Dollars for standard edition

Best looking Open World since Rdr2 ( Matrix Demo doesn't count )

No virtual pop in

Vice City .

Mark my words this will come true and I'll be more credible then Hendersex

honestly, matrix demo wasnt that interesting to me. i didnt care for it... realistically there are very few devs that can make use of it on a full fledged game

100 percent agree.

This video is dangerous imo. I mean sure it's just an opinion but this guy has a huge following. I've been in countless gta related conversations and people bring this up a lot.

When i ask them if they would want a MGS V style campaign/Mafia 3 minus the bad mechanics, they immediately reconsider though.

Sure the lego set and cool editing stuff sound neat and fancy but when it comes down to actually having a non linear campaign you venture into the anarchy territory.

That's what free roam is! Or even some side missions.

The director HAS to direct your attention/experience in order to create a memorable experience.

Otherwise..... Let's just play Just cause. I mean it's a cool game and all. But lmao what the f*ck do you remember from those games?

I loved Just Cause 2 but literally the only part of the story I remember is the scripted sequence at the end where you surf IBMs.

this video does a great job highlighting the exact inverse of the problem jake was trying to highlight

That's basically what Just Cause is, a destruction fest without any memorable story moment whatsoever.

Superdays

I want a good mix of scripted narrative missions and Cayo Perico esque missions.

and the thing is i kinda get where jake was coming from. there are moments in RDR & GTA that do feel overly restrictive, but i dont think changing the entire design philosophy is required. they just need to loosen some of the fail states, so theres more leeway for error but the end result is still the same. and they do experiment with this from time to time, like in the contract where you have to take down the DJs helicopter. if you fail to take it down then the helicopter flys him to his yacht, you board it and kill him there.

Yeah, but... take a look at NakeyJakey's comment on his very own video:

"so real late last night as I was finally tying the bow around this fat ass christmas gift, I was gettin REAL nervous cause I know I say some pretty savage sh*t about the most beloved child in video games right now. But I spent a LOT of time on this vid (as you know) and rewrote it and kept editing it down until I could fully stand by every word. I think my only regret is not giving more attention to all of the things that Red Dead 2 does SUPER GOOD (visuals, writing, characters, music, D'Angelo) but I guess that would kinda go against the thesis of the vid. Anyways, just wanted to say that I care about this vid a lot and I hope you like it and I hope it leads to lots of interesting conversations. I'm super interested to hear your responses either in this gamer chat or on Twitter. Thanks for watching and have a lovely holiday :)"

So, he basically says he knows the game has a lot of qualities, but he don't wanna talk about them so people will focus only on the flaws he pointed on his video, this is one of the most bastard moves you can do when reviewing something and that's exactly when I stopped watching him or supporting anything he does at all.

I think a great mix when it comes to mission design is heavily scripted main missions and free form side missions. I don't agree with most things in the nakeyjakey video but he is right when he says it's kinda irritating how easy it is to fail some missions and how rail road-ey it feels sometimes.

I mean, the whole point of the video is to dive deeper into the criticisms he has, no? Why would it be necessary to focus on the quality things when its not even a review, its more of an essay on a specific aspect of the game

yea true, what are some games that do this well? would MGSV be a good example?

I understand where he comes from, really, I do, I even said myself that GTA 6's story should be slight smaller than RDR2's story, while giving us more freedom during its missions, but you can't say the game is bad just because of this.

Because the game's qualities are heavily overshadowed by its flaws on this context, he should've done a complete and fair review of the game pointing out its qualities and flaws equally, not rushing to be the first one to say that the game's design is outdated and never touching it again on his channel, simple as that.

Is this legit? Did @Tez2 post this info somewhere? If yes, that means he knows something about the trailer

I don't. My post was both an educated guess and based on an inside bit that Rockstar's internal deadline, months ago, was (or still is) a Fall 2023 release. Rockstar announces a new major title the year before the planned deadline.

GTAV & RDR2 had their debut trailer revealed a few days after announcement. If we are lucky, we could see the trailer this month. But Rockstar lately has only been making announcements prior to T2 earnings calls. Safe to say we could expect more updates in May.

MGSV is partially unfinished and is not exactly a proper open world game. Even Hideo Kojima explained it as an open world infiltration game, that the world is there just to give you room to approach the mission locations from any direction, any way you want.

In a way that game is an antithesis of RDR2. Extremely barren world, significantly less emphasis on story but very freeform, fluid mission design whereas RDR2 restricts player freedom in story heavy content but compensates with a very open ended free roam with tons and tons of unique content and interactions. Maybe if MGSV was actually finished properly the game could've been something really special, but whatever. Even Mafia III was criticized heavily because it emphasized player freedom over narrative density and that game did have a pretty good script.

In Rockstar's case I'd say Hitman's more curated level design (compared to MGSV) would fit far better in their games. You can already see that in Cayo Perico Heist, Casino Heist (or even in RDO's Blood Money Opportunities) that they're trying out different options. They just need to implement proper stealth mechanics in their games which I presume they will in VI.

This is what I'm thinking too. T2 seems to have their "future pipeline" update scheduled for the May conference call, so that might be when we see our true reveal as perhaps T2 will want to show the game named on the future pipeline diagrams and what not.

I feel like the ‘announcement’ of the next GTA being well underway isn’t equal to the first info we had on RDR2 and V. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get an official teaser and then the trailer, though who knows I guess… time will tell

I've been on this topic for 3 years now. It's pretty amazing, the amount of Rockstar/GTA fans that don't know things like this. As unpredictable as Rockstar may be, they're still pretty predictable as to when or how they may do things. 2018 - 2023 is a 5 year gap, just like 2013 - 2018 (GTA V to RDR2). So a fall 2023 deadline is pretty easy to predict. That said, I do still expect a delay.

I still think it will be delayed to 2024 because you  know rockstar likes to delay there games. The reason why I think 2024 is because people cant get a next gen console easily.

The xbox series x/ps5 are insanley hard to find.
