I watched it last week for the first time and I must say I agree with the guy on a lot of things he says. Please watch it and tell me what you think about it.

 

I feel like Rockstar must take a step back and maybe replay all of their games again to get a sense of what works, is fun and what isn't. 

 

I do not doubt the amazing technical achievement that is RDR2 but I also gotta be honest with the answer to: Was it ACTUALLY fun to play through? My answer to that is a clear no. I never found myself messing around in the world of RDR2 outside of objectives, be it a side mission or the main story. It just isn't fun to me in RDR2? Meanwhile I did that hundreds of hours in GTA IV and RDR1 or older GTA games.

 

Rockstars approach to more and more realism in their games comes at the cost of fun for me personally and I feel like that I don't like that.

What 'works and is fun,' to one person, may not 'work and be fun,' to the next....  Since the player base for GTA's has always been massive, it's difficult, nigh on impossible, to get every call in that situation correct.

Oh no, we used to have dedicated topics for the conference calls way back with GTA V even though for obvious reasons nothing ever happened  If anything happens related to the conference it won't be *in it* but rather as a Newswire post with future updates if they decide to do that today, or bits and bobs or numbers from the reports they release.

 

I know this is gonna fall on deaf ears but for the love of god don't explode if we don't get not even a GTAO/RDO/whatever Newswire today because they have done those with other end-of-year conferences instead  There's precedent but not 100% of the time.

I have fun playing RDR2, I think its gunplay is way more realistic than RDR1's, not only in terms of animations, while the new game has that reticle sway that's kinda annoying sometimes for free aim players such as me, on the other hand the first game holds your hand too much, your reticle don't even have to be exactly on the target to hit them and you can't even die in a fist fight, you just get knocked out and wake up 5 seconds later, the same goes to your enemy, plus fist fights are horrible in that game, unlike in RDR2 which has Rockstar's best fist fights ever.

This, I just hope that whatever they do, they do it with passion and care to deliver a good and polished product.

I was surprised myself but yes, I still do mess around in these games and have a lot of fun doing so.

 

Maybe it is the annoying police/wanted system in recent games that makes me not even attempt to mess around outside of missions. Like a completely reworked police/wanted system for GTA VI is no. 1 priority imo!

 

Also there is something about the PS3/360 era atmosphere in Rockstar's games that I just don't see in the PS4/5 Xbox Series age anymore. It feels like every AAA game these days looks the same. Too clean!

The gunplay in RDR1 is a lot more fun for sure. I love the sound design in RDR2 but you're hit way too often and it doesn't feel smooth.

Don't even get me started on the butchered cover system.

Something I really miss in the recent Rockstar games is the rain effect. Like in RDR1 if you look up the screen it shows rain drops hitting the monitor/tv ... in GTA IV as well and in Vice City (rain, blood splatters). Such a great and satisfying effect if you ask me.

Last of Us 2 showed us how blood is done, Rockstar should take notice for GTA6 because it was awful in RDR2. The water was bad aswell

Water in RDR2 was bad? I don't know about consoles but PC's water was too much even for the system to handle it

RDR2's rain is like that bugged rain in the GTA Trilogy DE. LMAO. I hate it. I especially hate the east/north part of the map. It always rains. Constantly sh*t weather and dark. Only thing I feel when going there is depression.

 

GTA IV's rain to this day is the most realistic of ANY videogame. Then comes RDR1's.

It's obviously one of the best games on PS4, but there are things that aren't great, like the blood effects for example. Compare them to TLOU2, it's night and day.

John's screams when getting hit is one of the few advantages of playing as him on the epilogue, at least he takes bullets more fondly and don't hurt my ears like Arthur lol.

I get what you mean, when the temperature is at 0ºC or less, the rain gets that milk effect similar to the GTA The Trilogy, I don't know why they haven't fixed this yet, it looks more like a bug than a design choice though.

We don't really got any real GTA 6 info to talk about, do we? So sometimes this topic just turns into a online hang out place, better than discussing fake leaks, at least when we are discussing previous Rockstar Games titles we share ideas of improvements they can make on their next games.
