i’d be inclined to say it’s about the abysmal p2p security. consoles would be flooded with modders if they allowed proper crossplay using the systems they have for their last few online games :kekw:

But I'm talking about crossplay between consoles only while PC remains separate altogether, that should be doable.

There's literally no reason why they wouldn't add console crossplay but hey, it's Rockstar, they do whatever they want.

I recall reading a few years back that Sony was against it for some reason.  But since it’s now available in other console games, I don’t see why it shouldn’t be a feature in VI.

ah, that's fair. would be good to have! i'd really love to see PC included as well though, would feel much more complete.

I don't remember anything about this!
If it's going to be really massive with more players and events and even maybe with different timelines, P2P can't work there!

Meanwhile some higher-ups:

I'm sure, that you can make it.

@Tez2

What's your personal opinion on moderately sized release?! what it could mean?
And what do you think about GTA 6's online? will it be something like GTAO but in different locations and different time settings?! or a new concept?! how about co op mode?

In my opinion, I imagine the game would adopt the Chapter system from RDR2 and cities will be more of islands than connected with each other by vast lands. This would allow them to consider leaving out some chapters as future DLC.

And since it's chapter-based, the game could span multiple timelines. Keep in mind that this was gonna happen with GTAV SP DLC. Sort of, not exactly. But two episodes of GTAV SP DLC were "What-If" types of episodes that would drastically alter the cityscape to fit a scenario of an alien invasion or a zombie apocalypse. Take that and RDR2 concept of buildings changing over time into GTA VI and you end up with multiple timelines.

I have no doubts the next version of GTA Online would be separated from the current one. Rockstar would want to use RDO session migration system with GTA Online 2. That, at least, would require them to separate it from the current GTA Online.

probably not that many for TWAU1, but i was a major modder for TWD a few years back. made the first publicly available script mods and even built an editor for them.

won't get too into it here, but i'm rather proud of all that work! the telltale tool was considered straight up unmoddable before what i did so i'm guessing that's why you never saw much.

seeing as TWAU2 will be in unreal, i'm guessing mods will be slightly easier to make and the game will be overall more open to tinkering. the types of mods i did for TWD were free-roam, content creation stuff (ie. one that let you load any level from the menu or on boot), and other small things including scripts (ie. i made the original debug menu work again)

I have no opinion about that "moderately sized" thing, as I think it's bullsh*t. I don't think that's happening and is one of the reasons why it's taking long. GTA VI might have a chapter system, but it won't have story chapters added as time goes on, it's not like we'll need an update to know the story's finale. :kekw:

Maybe as extra DLC like extra chapters, sure. Main story chapters, never.

bingo. there would probably be actual riots outside their office if we waited a decade for gta 6 and then hit a "TO BE CONTINUED... BUY SHARK CARDS" half way through the story :jkek:

Top Rockstar executive Jennifer Kolbe sent out an email to staff with a list of bullet-pointed initiatives to improve Rockstar’s culture.
"One plan that management has laid out for the next game, a new entry in the
Grand Theft Auto series, is to start out with a moderately sized release (which, by Rockstar’s standards, would still be a large game) that is then expanded with regular updates over time, which may help mitigate stress and crunch."

I don't like Jason but this interview can't be a lie!
I think it means after finishing the game, Story Mode DLCs like GTA IV's SP DLCs that are connected to the main story, will happen in a different timeline! + Map expansion and monthly/season events will happen for online!

It doesn't mean main story is incomplete! or you have to wait to see episode/season 2 lol
I think it means they expand the story with side characters as main characters!
Imagine in RDR2 you can play as Micah Bell or Dutch in different timeline!

moderately sized is what jason schreier said and ain't no way gta 6 is gonna do that .

Maybe the map size is gonna be moderately sized compared the likes of just cause 3 which filled with little to no detail.

Rockstar is 100% going all out with GTA VI

it's there money maker for the next decade and considering how ambitious rdr2 was on ps4 it will take that to a whole new level . Also hopefully the ability to speak to everyone in the world like Rdr2 must return.

That's pretty neat actually. I had no idea about there being mods for the TWD games, I'm mostly a console player and so that's part of the reason why I haven't heard of that, although I do play Cities: Skylines on PC and I use mods for that game. I'll have to keep an eye out and see what ya'll come up with for mods in the new Wolf Among Us game.

and that's why some fail

honestly i don't trust that jason the truth for my gta 6 will have a super detailed map full of life

"Moderately Sized" could mean absolutely anything and IMO was just corporate speak to keep the workers happy. Moderately sized to what exactly? I cant see rockstar doing after release content unless the entire game is online

About moderately sized release part! is it what Jason thinks or Jennifer Kolbe said it?!

First of all, is not an "opinion", The article just mentions "One plan that management has laid out". It certainly doesn't mean "the only plan that management has laid out" or anything like that. Also, it was Jason who said it. Several plans must have been laid out, and we have no way of knowing what was actually chosen or developed.

Ahh yeah I'd like something akin to that in a GTA game and, in fact, I had an idea for a story in my head that I think would fit a GTA title.  Some of it was kinda influenced somewhat by the early "Project Americas" leak and I'm sure some others had similar ideas to mine

Essentially you would have two protags, A & B for example. Protag A is based in Vice City, as an example, and lets say B is based from Las Venturas. The story would take place in two time zones, similar to RDR2. The first half of the game would be set in, lets say 2010. and the second half would set in 2015.

Prologue would be a tutorial sequence and helps set up the events of the story for the game featuring both protags

Chapter 1 would have you playing as protag A in Vice City. This would be your time to familiarize yourself with this character by doing missions, side activities, hanging out with friends, etc.

Chapter 2 has you now transition to protag B in Las Venturas and, again, this would be your time to familiarize yourself with this character by doing missions, side activities, friend hangouts, etc.

Chapter 3 now has both protags together and you can switch between them any time you want, just like GTA5 and you can head to either map by purchasing a plane ticket. Both characters will have missions and stuff to do in both cities, some involving them working together or others solo. The story now starts to pick up and really gain momentum ending in a climatic sequence of events.

Chapter 4, again has both protags playable together but now the timeline has moved to 2015 (again, this is just an example), 5 years from 2010. New cars, music, weapons, and other stuff now becomes available, along with changes to the map in both cities such as buildings under construction being completed. Story is moving at a pretty steady pace with new missions, side activities, etc. Both cities are still available to travel between any time the player wants.

Chapter 5, both protags still playable but now players are restricted to just Vice City for this chapter due to story events from previous chapter. Story begins to move even faster now.

Chapter 6, both protags are playable but now players are now restricted to Las Venturas map. The end of the main story approaches and things are coming to a head. At the last story mission in this chapter, it's up to the player to decide which protagonist lives to see the epilogue.

Epilogue A, a unique epilogue for protag A that helps clean up loose ends and ties their story up neatly.

Epilogue B, similar to epilogue A but for protag B.

This is all just an idea I had about a future GTA game, and I'm sure others may have had similar ideas as well, but I definitely think it's one that would work really well for the series.

I don't think we will see VI day 1 on PC, but maybe it won't be as far between like V and RDR2 were. RDR2 was an improvement over the delayed waiting for V, but it was still a fair chunk of time. Maybe 6 months or so for VI? And as a Rockstar Launcher exclusive for a while, at least.

Spot on.
