People who play AmyVinewood's elimination games, what's the biggest upset you've seen?

Okay, I'll admit that this thread was inspired by something not related to GTA Online -- this year's NFL playoffs which saw virtually every Super Bowl favorite bow out early. But nonetheless, the elimination games have been a staple of this forum for a while now. And just like any other long-running competition, there are upsets and underdog stories. So I was wondering, what do you consider the biggest upset in the history of the elimination games? Discuss.

 

I decided to make this into a separate thread as to not disrupt the current actual game.

Honestly, I wish SF would have beat LA just because Im a fan of John Lynch? I kinda hate most things that have to do with the gutter trash culture that is bred in California. Anyway, I never paid attention towards the end of all the elimination games. So it would have been quite helpful if you posted your own disappointments and/or the winners of each game.. !!

Okay, for me in terms of position, definitely Weevil finishing above the Sparrow in Cayo Perico Vehicles. Throughout most of the game, Kosatka, Sparrow, and Toreador were running away with it. The Sparrow looked like a favorite to win due to its versatility but barely missed out on a podium. It finished below the Weevil, the quirky little Volkswagen bug. How it unfolded is something you have to read for yourself.

 

Deciding on an upset winner is tougher for me simply due to the mechanics of the games -- you vote for your favorite thing so of course whatever the community generally likes is usually going to take it. Thus, true upsets are rarer than in typical sports. But the one in my recent memory is (believe it or not) the ZR350. Yes, it's based on an iconic real life car as well as a 3D era fan favorite. But Japanese tuner cars never seem to do well in these games. They either have mediocre looks or mediocre performance. And even when Rockstar gets it right, it's often overshadowed by whatever muscle car is competing in there.

 

Oh, also remembered the Nightblade motorcycle getting a win. In all the six or so years it's been out, I've never seen one. Managed to find the game thanks to Google.

I don't participate in the games anymore, but I remember the Schafter V12 causing quite a stir When it beat the Elegy Retro Custom for the best sports title a few years ago.

I don't remember exactly what game it was as I gave up giving a sh*t about which car came out in which DLC a very long time ago, but I remember getting very irritated over the Hellion getting shafted by the Issi Sport.

@Giantsgiants Freakin hilarious man..the weevil won!? Nuuuuutttyyyy. I hated them missions and won't give Dave the time of day on my new character...even though he has now called me like 30/40 times. I don't want it. Great post.. I'll check them topics out.

That we never had an Elimination Game of Gerald's Let's Play Missions. And at this point it's way too late to have it.

The weevil winning over the sparrow is due to the fact that people who participate in the games are voting for what they like the most rather than what they use the most. For a lot of people the sparrow is just another weaponized helicopter, and you know people tend to dislike everything that has homing missiles (for good reason of course), then there is people like me who dont even do any heist, so we dont use aircrafts as often. I didnt even buy a kosastka to begin with, i did cayo once or twice by joining people and quickly got bored.

Not enough people play these games anymore, which were a forum staple for me for many years. At the moment, only three or four people vote each day, which makes the recycling of the same votes pointless. I've lost interest, probably also because of other things going on in my life. I remember the fight between the Cheval Marshall monster truck and the Buckingham Swift helicopter as the best Pegasus vehicles game, both being equally popular. They both got eliminated out of the Top 10 because of the in-game feuding. As a Marshall fan, it taught me a lesson, but the helicopter brigade took a major whipping too.

 

Also, you posted this thread OP but you can't be bothered to play the elimination game yourself. Isn't that a bit fetish-ish?

I usually play the vehicle ones. The non-vehicle ones have never really interested me. Plus as you've implied both here and in the current game, activity has slowed down as a whole and thus my overall interest in the games has actually waned.
