I've watched a few videos on YouTube, but they didn't help me.  Can you tell me how you successfully completed it?  Thanks in advance.

What worked for me best is to go to Hanging Dog Ranch. Use a scoped rifle with multiple rounds capacity (Carcano) or install a scope to a repeater cause you have to do this without reloading or switching to other weapon. At Hanging Dog Ranch, there are two men standing guard at the entrance. Now, what you need to do is sneak into shooting range so you can see the enemies without triggering them to come at you. I usually done this by standing near that tree stomp. Aim to the hand (without dead eye), shoot and the target will drop the gun. Withdraw. Rinse and repeat.

Thank you so much!  I'll give it a try!

Well doing it the normal way can be a bit of a pain.

However if you have not gone to the island of guruma, you can easily achieve it there.

If you travel over to the far right of the map where you meet Dutch near the waterfall.

You'll notice the ledge that you and Dutch follow on that mission actually put you the bright red section of the island.

When you're on the island anytime you're in the bright red section you will be attacked by guards.

So, you can gain access that ledge two ways.

Either complete the mission with Dutch or shoot your gun and make Dutch run away and the mission no longer become available

Oce you do that, simply stand on that ledge and shoot the soldiers as they come down the area just behind you toward the waterfall.

You don't actually have to shoot the weapons out of their hands because it will automatically give you the disarmed when they trip as you shoot at them.

You can't perform this if Dutch's mission is available in that location.

So as I said before either complete it or cause it to turn gray and not be available.

With that said...

The only problem with this approach is that it's a one-time offer because of access to the island.

So if you've already progressed past it you can't use this to your advantage.

I'm almost back to the island in my current playthrough.

When I get back to that point, I'll make a short video showing what I'm referring to for anyone who's interested.

Even though you already completed it, I'll add to Viktor's method by recommending either the Lancaster or Evans Repeaters. Litchfield does a bit too much damage and Carbine is to inaccurate (both outside of deadeye). Bolt Action Rifle works decent, but you've got to be steady because of the damage per hit. It won't kill an enemy with a single hand shot from a reasonable distance, but the second one will.

I did mine at Fort Mercer on the first two 100% runs, but on this last one I did it at Hanging Dog. Both work well. You can also do it at Fort Wallace, but for me that was not worth the pain of being chased afterwards.

I disarm enemies all the time in Van Horn using the Double Action revolver. It's sorta comical disarming the entire town. Eventually they give up

I was stupid because I used dead eye and it can’t work with dead eye. You actually have to shoot a pistol or a revolver out of the attackers hands to disarm them or fingers. It can’t be with a rifle or other weapon it must be a revolver. I have not completed this challenge yet but I will.

OK, so I've seen a few YT videos that DID use dead eye...

I don't recall doing it last time but it wasn't too hard but on my most recent playthrough, this was a downright PITA....I had to get closer to be able to really get a better aim on the shooting hands but try not to get shot too much myself.

I'm going to have to try Viktor's approach with a Carcano at Hanging Dog Ranch...

From what position? People in Van Horn are angry and flip out; finding a defilade position is tough.

Inside the Blackley hotel is good you can funnel them through the hallway before you enter the room

Personally I just go into the saloon and fire my gun into the air, which will cause the patrons to pull out their guns, then I went into deadeye and disarmed them in one go
