OREOBOREALIS
Just found about this zombie survival game The Day Before. Supposedly releasing next summer to next gen. Or is it? Even rumors about it being fake/scam are around. Looks really good for online survival game. Kind of hyped for it. Should have better name though as its really unoriginal and too similar to other game names around now. Why is there now so many games with word day in it? haha Oh yeah i know the guy playing it in the video is bad at shooting no need to mention it okay lol Other gameplays for it: Edited January 30 by Mktz1 Failed Again and Mister Pink
Mister Pink
I used to dislike zombie films and games. Thought the thing was all played out but after playing State of Decay I and even Back 4 Blood I can see now see the value. This looks like a much more realistic/more detailed/more AAA version of State of Decay. I love the setting, driving through the mud, the lake, the sunset and the old gas station with the country/bluegrass music playing. It all sets the tone really nicely. I think the game looks good at night too. The long grass makes me think there might be stealth? I don't know. The only thing is I've seen a lot of bullets go into one zombies head. You'd expect it to open up a bit after that many bullets going into it. Hopefully they improve on that. Otherwise I can see this being a great 2-4 player co-op. Here's a beautiful 4K RTX video.. Mexicola9302
Looks like a mix of The Division and State of Decay, with a permanent darkzone of The Division. It will be a griefers fest it seems. It will have a singleplayer campaign mode, so it might be a good game after all. If the singleplayer story is good, else it will be a trash game, well for me at least. I hate playing forced PVP games, if there is a Co-op only mode that would be nice, but i doubt that. I mean the graphics and gameplay looks pretty nice, would be a shame if that game sucks in singleplayer. Failed Again
Jason
As far as I know it's an online only game that's PvPvE? That is, if it's an actual game. There's a ton of question marks around the legitimacy of what they've shown thus far because they've got no track record (and abandoned their previous project before it was finished) and really just haven't shown anything beyond very scripted looking gameplay snippets. It's a few months from release, supposedly, and yet we've not seen any of the real mechanics or systems of the game. Mister Pink
The PC version is due for release in June 21, 2022 with no release speculated for console yet. I expect they'll be doing a lot of testing on the PC version before trying to bring it to console in a more ready state. At least if they are mod-friendly they can enlist the help of the modding community, even hire them for fixes and additions. There are some concerns for the developers as Jason mentioned due to their last project being abandoned. However they do have some well-received completed projects. This just looks much bigger than anything they've ever done. I want this game to succeed because I'm really craving something like it. OysterBarron
I must admit the initial trailer got me excited for it but after a couple of watch throughs I noticed alot of the city scenes were just set dressing filmed at angles to look good, if you looked thurther up the roads in the shots they were very baron. So I'm pretty shocked that we've a release date this year.
Mister Pink
....aaaaand.. it's delayed. They are moving the project over to Unreal Engine 5 and delaying the game to 2023. They can take all the time they want, I want this game to play out in the best possible way. I want this to succeed. Jason
Even without the engine upgrade it was getting delayed for sure. I'm no dev and I don't know the process of UE4 > UE5 but I cannot imagine it's complex, Epic wouldn't have designed it that way, so I imagine this delay is more so because the game was no where near ready regardless. DEADWOODZ
I'll still remain to be sus about this game, like. Almost looks to good to be true. OREOBOREALIS and Mister Pink

I read on Reddit that the process isn't that difficult with some saying it's literally a matter of opening the project file up in UE5. Apparently moving from UE3 to UE4 was challenging so UE really worked to make transitioning to 5 easier. One guy speculating that the extra time needed then is to take advantage of the new features that UE5 will offer which will take up a majority of the time. But I haven't a clue myself, just reading what others have pointed out. 43 minutes ago, DEADWOODZ said: I'll still remain to be sus about this game, like. Almost looks to good to be true. Yeah that's kind of the same sentiment from me. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed again because with new tools comes new features and I know from personal experience working on projects that some new tools will inspire new ideas - then the scope gets broadened and lots of time added. I vaguely remember reading that they made the process intentionally simple. As for extra time to take advantage of UE5 features, that's reasonable but feature creep this late when the game was supposed to be nearly ready for launch is iffy. A 10 month delay only what, 1-2 months before they were meant to launch just adds to the pile of reasons to be sus about the game. OysterBarron
I would say I'm shocked but I'm not, hopefully they can optimise it well on ue5 as judging by the recent release of the matrix demo on pc seems like performance is all over the place on fairly high end systems. Think for a shooter a nice steady high framerate especially with competitive elements may actually be a better experience on ue4.
Jason
The Matrix tech demo was just that, there wasn't really a serious attempt at optimsation. As of now there's only 1 proper released game running on UE5 which is Fortnite which is smooth as butter pretty much. It scales really well as well, being able to be played on high end PC's w/ raytracing all the way down to mobile, with both platforms being able to play against each other through cross platform.
