Carl_Speed YT
Hi guys. So i just installed GTA 2 on my Windows 11. from this site https://gta.com.ua/rockstargames-classics-free-download.phtml It`s free. Anyway when the game has finished installing. I launched GTA 2 using GTA2.exe Only problem is when the game is opening. I got an error message saying "Videomode 16x16x16 is not available". And i don`t know what`s causing this one. If i installed a Widescreen Fix or use DgVoodoo2. The game works fine. except it freezes every 5 seconds (With Widescreen Fix). I want to play the game at 640x480 resolution. But since the game is giving me an error. I can`t get the game to work. I found a fix from this site: https://gtamp.com/gta2/gta2-common-problems/#:~:text=Q%3A How do I fix,a reboot will fix it. But the error still appeared. I`m pretty sure the game even meets my PC`s requirements. I downloaded the Rockstar Classics version because the game was removed on Steam and on the Rockstar Games` website. Due to compatibility issues Guys if you can help me fix this error, Then just let me know. Thanks in advance. For the most bug-free GTA 2, I would recommend this one: https://gtamp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=73 For the music, look for Helegad's post here: You shouldn't need to install a widescreen fix or dgVoodoo. Run GTA 2 Manager, select Direct3D, select 640x480, enable Special Recognition and click the GTA 2 button at the bottom to play. Now it should work. Unfortunately, the game will have either screen tearing or judder (depending on if you have vsync enabled or not). Even on my Windows 98 PC this happens, whether I use Direct3D or 3DFX Glide (I have an old Voodoo 2 graphics card with hardware Glide support, no need for dgVoodoo). It's just how the game runs unfortunately. Edited January 27 by jm-9 Carl_Speed YT

I can't exit out of the game. I have to restart the whole PC everytime it freezes. And yes. I checked "Special Recognition, 640x480 resolution I'm running on Direct3D. Game is working now! I'm having Screen Tearing as well. But i don't care about it! It happens even though i have Vsync on or off. I'm not having FPS issues. It's running on 30 FPS smoothly. I'm also not using DGVoodoo2 nor Widescreen Fix and 3DFX Glide. I'm just running the game with no resolution fixes mods. Edited January 28 by Carl_Speed YT Forgot to mention. Sorry man! jm-9
jm-9
Exactly. digital copies of GTA 2 should always run on modern PCs (the disc check DRM of original disc release doesn't work with Windows 10/11). It shouldn't need any mods to work. Unlike 3DFX Glide, Direct3D is always supported natively by modern graphics cards (DgVoodoo emulates Glide). You'll need a map to play through it. The aerials on top of TV vans always point towards your save point, so if you're stuck you can get to it that way. You'll need $50,000 to save. I already know the mission locations, respray shops and the save point. I'm using the Disc copy of GTA 2. Because i'm having issues with the Rockstar Classics version. Which is the V9.6 one.
