Even more so, if you don't buy specific "bugged" lockers/properties, custom loadout actually works in missions.

I’ve never used them as cycling through weapons has never bothered me and I feel the more weapons I have the more fun can be had. This realism BS put a crimp in my enjoyment of RDR2 and I really hope it doesn’t make its way into VI… fun > muh realism.

Which are the bugged ones? I've had my locker work in missions a couple times, but when it happened I thought it was a respawn glitch.

Can you elaborate on this?

 

I do remember my custom loadout working on missions a bunch of times but I chalked that up to being a random glitch.

Provided that you don't pick them up again, all Mk1 weapons can be permanently discarded from the weapon wheel.

 

Also if they're are a item that is only available for purchase for a limited time.

 

And for some odd reason I should have the Navy Revolver on my wheel since I completed that side quest a long ago, but only recently I noticed that I don't have it

The Halloween Peyote Plant takes it away. You should have it available for free at ammunation. After you buy it there it will persist.

I Can't find it on Ammunation either, well I don't really care much about this because it means I have one less weapon to hide on my custom loadout.

I only have one in my MC clubhouse,didn't wanna spend money on getting one for every property,and I rarely change my loadout anyway

Honestly, I think R* would consider the gun lockers that work outside of freemode to be the ones not working as intended. They released "broken" gun lockers in the Office, Biker Clubhouse, Bunker, MOC, and Facility before they released their first "functional" one in the Avenger. There are only four "functional" lockers in the Avenger, Arcade, Penthouse, and Kosatka. Too bad the Arena makes it impossible to only have "functional" gun lockers if you already own that property.

Does the Arena still glitch out even if you don’t buy the weapons expert? I don’t have him so there’s no locker there and purchased properties to remove gun lockers from them, so I only have the “good” ones now but the issue remains.

I recently found out that custom weapon loadouts not working in heists or missions is actually a bug with the gun lockers that's been in the game for years and not just a bad game design choice... That makes it 10x worse, it's literally my biggest pet peeve in the game. That and constantly picking up Pistols and Micro SMGs from dead NPCs.

 

I'm surprised so little people talk about this. I couldn't find a single video on the issue. The amount of times i've died in combat because I was scrolling through a million guns trying to get the one I needed is so annoying. I can't imagine what it's like for players who own every gun.

Im used to having all weapons, i can quickly scroll through them, i don't even try to customize my loadout anymore.

I guess that's why they've never bothered fixing it, cause everyone has either gotten used to it or don't even know that it's a bug. It's unfortunate.

Yeah, it's very annoying. If you have a Pistol Mk II disabled in your weapon loadout though, it should prevent you from picking up pistols. Of course that doesn't work for the Micro SMG. (I prefer it over the AP Pistol though.)

Yeah i've tried that method. But for some reason when I disable it I still pick up the regular Pistols so i've resorted to keeping it in my loadout but with 0 ammo that way it doesn't select in vehicles.

I'm convinced the custom weapon loadouts working in missions is the bug. It wasn't until the third or fourth locker until one actually worked in missions.

It would also follow the same design as in RDO that only has one single weapons locker for the player and on missions you still get access to the guns you removed from the wheel. I can only speculate but I guess the reasoning behind it behaving that way is that on missions you would need/want weapons that you hid away on freeroam, like for example you might end up in a situation on a stealth mission where you need a silenced sniper rifle and all you have equipped is Sniper MKII with explosive ammo.

There's an option in the interaction menu to enable/disable your loadout though. That would be the perfect situation to use that feature instead of disabling the custom loadout altogether.
