KakiDev
I tried registering with my email adress, it said that I was not allowed to use this email adress. My other email adresses didn't work either, except one old adress I really dislike using because it's flooded with spam. Why does it reject these email adresses? Solution sivispacem Posted January 16 Solution Share Posted January 16 We limit email addresses that can be used on the forum for a range of reasons, principally limiting spam and bot accounts. KakiDev
Ok. Still annoying though, the captcha should leave most bots out..
Californiasomething
That... Is not a good reason. I use custom emails for every site I register and now you're going to go in my spam box because I can't filter it correctly.
_P136_
A while ago I got mysteriously cut off from my secondary Gmail account I had been using for all kinds of sign-ups for years. As I've been looking forward to decouple myself from Google anyway, and only lacked the time to do so fully, I treated it as an opportunity and just updated the e-mail address wherever I've been a member to an account I have with another provider. It all went smoothly on a dozen or so of other sites with the exception of GTA Forums as that address was not allowed here. As a result, I've been using the forums with an e-mail address I can no longer access, and it's just a matter of time before I'm locked out of my account because of this. So, to finally rectify the situation, yesterday I signed up for an account with Tutanota (which I also plan to use as my secondary e-mail from now on), and proceeded to update the e-mail address on file here. Guess what: "You are not allowed to use that email address on this site" either. The rules as to what e-mail addresses are allowed seem really restrictive. My primary e-mail reveals my real name, so I don't want to use that. Similarly, if I set up a custom address using one of my domains, it's just the same. What's left are the free e-mail providers: other than Gmail, what else is allowed? I understand a restriction on disposable e-mail domains like Mailinator but Tutanota is a legitimate service, which of course attracts spammers but then so do the others. Does this really help fighting forum spam anyway? From what I've seen elsewhere, all newly created account should be assumed to be spammers, unless they prove themselves otherwise. A newly created account with a Gmail address is not unlikely to be a spammer either. Hope you can reconsider the scope of these restrictions. Spider-Vice
Our biggest issue is with bot spammers and trolls who are banned using disposable email services that generate random domains that we can't easily ban (e.g. 21387bdsahjsad.com). Although we obviously still get spam by restricting it to the 20-30 or so most common email providers, including privacy-focused ones (Tutanota was in the whitelist, not sure why that didn't work), it was much reduced at times. That said, please try again with using your own email, that should work now. _P136_ 1 GTANet | Red Dead Network | black lives matter | stop Asian hate | trans lives = human lives

Problem solved, I was able to update my address. Thank you! (I registered with @tuta.io, not the primary domain, so that was probably the reason why it wasn't whitelisted.)
