OG Trilogy Games - No Auto-Targeting After Light Moddind?

Again, this is the 2001 through 2004 Trilogy games, NOT DE. Okay, so I noticed the problem in GTA III first, but checked, and all the Trilogy games no longer target. I noticed that R1 no longer auto-targets in any of the three games. The only aiming function is free aim. I am trying to figure out how to enable auto targeting, but there seems to be no way to do it. Redefining the controls doesn't work, since the game won't respond to any controller buttons in the Redefine Controls Tab at all for the "Target" field. The game seems to have locked me out of choosing any buttons at all for that. While on foot in the game, I tried even using the keyboard buttons listed in "Target" in the controls menu, but the game doesn't respond.

 

Also, in the Redefine Controllers tab, it seems like the default button is Joy 8, which I believe is the Start Button, but that button only does camera angles or goes to the pause menu, and you cannot change it. There are also default keyboard buttons assigned to targeting, but none of them work in the game(s). I am perpetually locked in manual aiming mode, with a targeting dot with a circle around it, like the M-16 has always had in GTA III.

 

Here are the mods I have installed:

 

-No Cd Crack

-Patch 1.1 (GTA III)

-GInput

-Frontend (whatever that is)

-Widescreen Fix

-Silent Patch

 

Like I said, for the moment, the games are very lightly modded. Any idea what's going on here?

For III and VC have you set the controller configuration from standard to classic?
