GTA V Online ps3/xbox 360

Pretty recently GTA 5 online shut down its online servers for PS3 and Xbox 360. How ever I checked and GTA 4 mutliplayer still works on PS3 and Xbox 360, how does that work? why does gta 4 online still work on these consoles but gta 5 online doesn't. i am not complaining btw i just want to know what is the reason. also unrelated to gta but Halo 3 also closed it servers on xbox 360 today but halo 2 on the xbox still has running online servers despite no one playing them.

Well there' was three generations of GTA V Online and R* needed to clear the PS3 and Xbox 360 servers to make room for new updates for the current gen. GTA IV only had one generation of console and there's still people who play GTA IV Online.

Well you are giving them ideas.. But then gtav database alone was probably incomparably larger.

False, since the original Xbox Live is no longer in service. Can't launch multiplayer without a multiplayer service. Hence, there are no Halo 2 servers in operation.

well i just tried it recently on the classic xbox, multiplayer still works but there is no server with a person playing.

Because you can still play split screen and network multiplayer, you just cannot play on Xbox Live anymore.

Cuz at some point they have to shut it down since they don’t update it no more.
