Oysters stopped affecting dates?

I didn't date any girlfriend, until i got Millie in story. Before dating her though, i collected all Oysters. Then, i nabbed the jealous girlfriend Denise's car, who drove to Las Venturas, made sure to keep the jealous girlfriend situation active (by waiting while being invited for coffee until she caught me, so as the date wouldn't be successful but at the same time not lose progress), went to Los Santos to date Denise and nab Millie's Feltzer. After i secured those two cars, i decided to date them normally, starting from Denise. I had 2 strange things happening to me, at that point:

 

Millie kept stalking me, even after a couple of successful dates, appearing even after the drive-by while trying to reach the end marker, which she supposedly shouldn't do.

 

And oysters stopped functioning, even though i had collected all 50. I wasn't always invited for coffee, had to progress a lot with Denise. And going to get Helena, i got rejected for too much muscle, which shouldn't have happened with all collectibles acquired before.

 

What gives?

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, so my post is purely opinion/anecdotal. I assume that something has gone wrong in regards to the jealous girlfriend mechanic, which can be a bit of a mess in and of itself. I can't see this being an unfortunate interaction with the collectibles because you're given a girlfriend very early on in the story, even if you don't necessarily court them. I've played many runs through where I collect the oysters from the very beginning of the game and I've been able to date as normal with all preferences removed, such as fat and/or muscle just to make life easier.

 

The trigger for the jealous girlfriend event can be finnicky at best to begin with, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if something had gone tits up in regards to that but I'll leave this to the code experts who might be able to help. Do you play on PC? Do feel free to upload your save here so people can have a snoop.

Yes, i play on pc! I don't know yet how to upload files here though and i half-expect i might not even be able to do that, since i am a new member and all... I think i have save from both before i undid the condition to keep jealous GF appearing (before starting dating denise and millie successfully) and of my current situation, that i get turned down from Helena and coffee invites come at ~50% progress only, instead of the very first date.

 

Something has to have gone wrong though, since as far as the guidelines i saw here and elsewhere, mentioned:

 

no jealous GF appears during special dates and denise's driveby (but for the latter millie showed up Denise's house)

 

if you complete one successful date, the "switch" for triggering jealous gf chance to appear is deactivated (and i had millie appearing 2-3 more times, post successfuly dating denise)

This only applies if there is no time between the end of the date activity and arriving home - ie. Millie's Gimp date and Michelle's She-Drives date.

Whoops. I am terribly sorry, among all of my different saves, i botched something up. Your file uploading showed me that one of my saves, had 48 oysters instead of 50 (i always leave the ones with 5star wanted level for last). I thought i found a glitch or something, but probably, everything worked as it should, i simply forgot to check the in-game stats window... My apologies for the ruckus.

 

My only question that still remains is:

 

Should a jealous girlfriend appear during special dates, or not? Because Millie appeared near Denise's house, shortly after drive by.

A "Special Date" isn't a primary factor; it's an over-generalization. If two-timing is enabled, jealous girlfriends are prohibited from spawning until 7 seconds into the return to home phase of the date - allowing barely enough time to exit an interior and find a vehicle.  Millie's gimp suit date skips the whole goto, succeed, return part of the date entirely and goes straight to coffee. Michelle's She-Drive date succeeds and ends at home, so the 7 second delay can't expire.  

 

A jealous girlfriend can appear at the end of Denise's Drive-by date. I was never able to get the timing right for filling the fun meter and entering her home sphere - better to dash from pizza to ammu-nation in Palomino Creek if you need to make progress with Denise as the only girlfriend and don't want to disable two-timing. If Helena's and Barbara's broken sunrise/sunset date is repaired, a jealous girlfriend could probably appear as well - don't remember testing this specifically though.

 

One successful date to disable two-timing is also an over-generalization. It doesn't matter if the dating activity was successful or not. If the return home 7 second timer expires and a jealous girlfriend doesn't show up, or if the girlfriend is evaded so there's no confrontation cut-scene, then two-timing is disabled permanently - unless edited by mods, editors, trainers, etc.

I always mess up my chance for the jealous girlfriends because if you go on any dates before you have 2 active girlfriends, it disables any chance of ever having that jealous encounter.

If you are playing on PC, the Savegame Editor 3.x has an option to re-enable the two-timing dates.
