Description

IV Tweaker is a modloader & limit adjuster utility for Grand Theft Auto IV, now you will no longer have to replace files and worry of the tedium with mod installations & backups. The ease-of-access folder structure and readability leaves any beginner being a master!

Installation

This is made with stainless IV-SDK steel, meaning you’ll have to downgrade in order to use it. Refer to this guide to get started! (Supported patches: 1080/1070)

⚠ - This also requires an ASI loader, be sure to have xlive or dsound selected during the downgrading process.

Modloader Guide

Installations are similar to what you're used to already.
For example a vehicle would have files such as these within its folder:

vehicles.img - Note that OpenIV is still required for adding the .wft and .wtd into this

handling.dat

vehicles.ide

Inside the handling.dat file could look like this.
A successful installation of vehicle installation could look like this!

Further notes:

- Subfolders aren't scanned, everything has to be put directly into the mod's folder

- If using content.dat, paths are relative to the mod folder, so writing the full path isn't required

Supported File Types

Spoiler

.ide (or .ide_priority for replacements)

.img

.gxt

.wpl

.asi

.rpf (audio)

A shame to see it's locked behind old versions of the game meaning the community remains fractured, but nice to see it exists.

Finally, something close to a modloader in GTA IV. Maybe in the future you can implement more features such as combining all data lines into one .txt file instead of separating it into different files, and ability to read .wft and .wtd file without having the vehicle models and textures bundled into one .img file (just like how modloader can directly read .dff and .txd into the game without using .img)

Not trying to sound like a dick, but maybe you could release the source code so that somebody who cares could port it to CE?
EDIT. I see that IV-SDK is on GitHub and nobody seemingly ported it to CE, so yeah, you won this one.

Would you mind doing a Video Tutorial on how to use this? It would be very much appreciated! :D

Made a fresh copy of (downgraded w/essential mods) GTA IV for this one. I used Thundersmacker's Penumbra FF mod to test it out, and it works!

Pic related (don't mind the potato resolution): Proof

Only one issue: after adding the car using IV tweaker, it now spawns everywhere, even though I added the necessary cargrp lines in cargrp.dat. Anyone know how to fix?

Edit: I'm an idiot. I had to revert the old file and add the lines in there along with all the other cars, not have the added line as the lone cargrp. I thought you could treat this file the same way as the handling.dat file, in which you could delete all the cars' handling files except for the one that you wanted to add. That is not the case with cargrp.dat.

How do i integrate it well to not overwrite TLaD and TBOGT (1.0.7.0)? Because for example by modifying the GTAIV playerped, Niko's model replaces JohnnyK and Luis in DLCs.

I would like to know if it is currently possible, otherwise I will disable the modloader when playing DLCs, no problem

Only one issue: when adding two or more cars Car washes spawns in different areas

Thank you

This is an issue in the normal game, it's "corrupting" your saves. Start new game and it should be fixed

Hey there, firstly this is awesome so thanks for the effort you put in! My question is, is it possible to override the files browser.WTD & buttons_360.WTD? My reasoning is I have created a controller icon mod over a year ago and someone who uses the Rockstar games launcher needed a method which won't require them to replace files. After launching the game I had a look in the log file that gets created and it finds the files but says:

modloader0:/browser.wtd type unknown

modloader0:/buttons_360.wtd type unknown

If this could be done it would be amazing :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Using the LimitAdjuster with no mods installed other than IV Tweaker causes the game to not open with a 1.0.8.0 install, with the log freezing after:

Applying limit adjuster...
Values:
Ambulance: ambulance
Police: police
Police2: police2
Buzzard: buzzard
N_Buzzard: n_buzzard
Max Game Heap: 163840
Max Mount Points: 256
Ped Budget: 50000000
Vehicle Budget: 40000000
Max Peds: 120
Max Dummy Peds: 150

Edit: Fixed in v1.7

If not too dumb too ask for, I would like to request file type support for: procedural.dat, stream.ini, radio_hud_noncolored.wtd and radio_hud_noncolored_eflc.wtd

Thank you for the great mod!

Could you add loadingscreens & loadingscreens_ingame .wtd/.dat to the list of supported standard files?
