What's your assessment of the Holiday experience?

I have to say I was disappointed by our overall holiday experience in RDO. My reasons why.

1) The cold weather thing was poorly thought out. I tried to bring two friends to the game, and joining the game in New Hanover where the special holiday weather started sapping their health right away but they didn't have money for warm clothes was a real turn off for them. If you're looking for people to joint your game, why punish your newbs with this mechanic? Frustratingly counter to my recruitment efforts.

2) A month-long weekly special with no pass? Seriously? I make good money moonshining and trading, and I happily did it the first week and sort of "meh" did it the second week. The last two weeks I just didn't even sign in.

3) Opportunity for so much holiday themed stuff in a pass, but no holiday pass? I personally think a red and green holiday stalker with little bells that jingle as I walked could have been a killer end-of-pass prize.

4) Last, and I suspect this horse has been shot with lemat, mercy killed by kicking, skinned for its hide and picked clean by western ravens thereafter, why no content DLC? I'm a shareholder, and they tell me they're investing in this game, and the employees I know tell me that further development for RDO has not been abandoned. Perhaps they didn't want to cannibalize interest in the GTAO DLC? Whatever. Still a bummer, especially since for my  PC GTAO is essentially an exercise in being mod-bombed from across the map continuously and I don't even bother to sign in.

Well the Call to arms x-mas edition was nothing special! Fun for a run but thats all!

The snow is boring outside colter and I wish this time around they did the snow deeper in Roanoke, Cimberland forest and Big valley!

And no limited stuff was back!

So to be generous I say 3/10 this event!

Oh, I had a great time. Trying all these new missions, grabbing a few new toys, goofing about in the snow, all of it...

...in GTA, of course. That game added toy Xmas holidays. Didn't log onto online once here though as I just had a little hunt and wander in the infinitely more engaging story mode.

If R* can't be bothered, why should we? It's on them to offer something in order to sell gold, not seek to sell gold and hold content hostage until enough was made to trigger new content. Weak game is weak.

As a shareholder, aren't you lucky GTA:O thrived to keep your shares well enough. For sure if GTA:O wasn't still plugging away, you'd be screwing at how those shares tanked. 🤣

Gettin up

Always love the snow in the game so I played a lot during this holiday season.

Finished my main goal in this game as well.

Agreed there should have been a pass at least. But I managed to finish enough collections to quick complete the pass whenever they release another.

Well .. Trying to be positive here .. After all, it was Yuletide ... 🎅

I've started to play RDO in December 2020 - so the snow was somewhat a walk down the lanes of memory, from where I did start a year ago .. It seems they had turned the storms and blizzards a bit up this time, a bit annoying, but actually gave some sort of lonely feel when you sat on your horse in the middle of nowhere - but I could be the only one that had this feeling ..

The adding of christmas tunes from saloons and so on again this year, was fine with me .. And this year old man Cripps had some sort of a soft spot for the dog, Yule presents, and alcohol .. That was kind of funny ..

The Merry Call To Arms was okay, although they just added a couple of beasts, arrows, tomahawks and snow .. But to be fair, we had a lot of fun out of it (but then again, we are a posse of four, and we do have a lot of fun everytime we posse up) ..

I think I've noticed, that we got new spots for camps .. Or has this been something we had for a longer period ?

KatzeFive..

PS: Yes, a pass would have been nice - we kind of miss things to spend gold and money on - if one has suuum ..

Overall assessment:

Relative to being an experienced player: already have lots of money & gold, all the stuff I need, almost everything I want that has ever been added (still missing one vest from Pass #1 which was only available before PC release) this year's 'event' rates a 2/10 because a new CTA is actually decent.

Otherwise it would be a 1.

For a very new player, the bonus payouts were quite good, if we had a second character slot available I would have started one and made some progress, so from that viewpoint I'd give it a 5/10.

Snow is nice for a few days, I like the tree and lights in camp and the shack, though the 'jazzy' versions of traditional Christmas tunes are excruciating to have to listen to, unadorned versions would have been much better in my opinion.

No new content is the biggest limiter.

I know why there is no second character slot, they simply expect us to buy the game a second time if we want another character.

It's quite frankly not worth buying twice, even at the $5 for RDO only price.

I'm not rewarding the most successful game company for it's laziness and lack of everything that makes a business worthy of further support.

There was no incentive to play other than the only thing that keeps me interested at all, daily challenges, even that pull is getting weaker by the month.

I enjoyed the snow but would prefer it be something that happens on certain points of the map seasonally instead of just one event (or two if you played on April Fools). Sure I can run around in Colter and such to make use of those darn coats that I paid money for and hardly ever use, but the snow up there is too thick and there is nothing to do.

The CTA map was cute, I admired the festive atmosphere when I wasn't getting my head blown off by a cannon. Other then that it was just another CTA, why were the enemies not festive? I mean couldn't we have been defending against trigger happy santa's or something?

No pass, and no festive items for us to buy or wear made it seemed like something half arsed and pointless.

Compared to other online games, RDO wasn't worth much to log into because of the holiday. I just want for them to actually take this game seriously, or at least make some attempt to do anything worthwhile with it.
