GTA IV/V are blurry on Xbox Series X

Hi everyone,

So I recently got a 4K TV at Christmas and decided to try GTA IV and GTA V on them as YouTube videos made them look really good running on the new console and 4K TV.

However when I tried it, I've noticed GTA IV is pretty blurry as is V (though no as much). When I take a screenshot of the games for the Xbox capture, the quality is really good though, especially IV.

Just wondering if there's a way to fix this. Someone did mention that because the games are not HDR/4K optimized then that's possibly the reason but I'm not sure considering how good some YouTube videos look.

My TV is calibrated and features Game Mode so not sure what else I can do really.

Cheers for any help you lot can give me!

GTA IV in backwards compatibility still runs at 720p on XSX so it will always be blurry on 4K TV. And GTA V which runs at native 1080p on PS4 and Xbox One is also A bit blurry on my 4K TV.

Thanks for clarifying! GTA V isn't too bad but unfortunately IV is even on 360 since it's on 4K TV as you said so I really hope an IV remaster gets announced soon now lol

Sadly Microsoft didn't bother with upgrading GTA IV in BC for some reason (720p), but RDR 1 in BC is native 4K 30 fps on Xbox One X and therefore Xbox Series X.

Max Payne 3 is 720p 30 fps as well, but that's still better than PS4 that doesn't even have these older games.

They updated the emulator to take Series S into account for games to but only render them at 2x scale instead of 3x scale. So RDR1 runs at 1440p30fps on the Xbox Series S.

Really? That's awesome.
