Chronological Mission Order - GTA III Edition

Recommended Posts

HOW'S ANNIE?

So quite a few sections here on GTAF have their own "Chronological Mission Order" for their respective games (IV, V, RDR). So after playing III again, I figured we could discuss your personal opinions on how the story should play out.

And yes I know, GTA games are meant to be about freedom (III seems to especially be the case), so the game can play out however you see fit. This is just the order that makes more sense to me.

Legend:

[8] 8 Ball

[L] Luigi

[J] Joey

[T] Toni

[S] Salvatore

[M] Marty Chonks

[E] El Burro

[A] Asuka

[KK] Kenji

[R] Ray

[DL] Donald Love

[KC] King Courtney

[DI] D-Ice

[C] Catalina

Part I: Portland

Spoiler

[8] Introduction/ Give Me Liberty

[L] Luigi's Girls

[L] Don't Spank My Bitch Up

[L] Drive Misty For Me

[M] The Crook

[M] The Thieves

[M] The Wife

[M] Her Lover

[J] Mike Lips Last Lunch

[L] Pump Action Pimp

[J] Farewell Chunky Lee Chong

[L] The Fuzz Ball

[J] Van Heist

[E] Turismo

[E] I Scream You Scream

[J] Cipriani's Chauffeur

[J] Dead Skunk In The Trunk

[J] The Getaway

[T] Taking Out The Laundry

[T] The Pick-Up

[E] Trial By Fire

[E] Big'N Veiny

[T] Salvatore's Called A Meeting

[S] Chaperone

[T] Triads and Tribulations

[T] Blow Fish

[S] Cutting The Grass

[S] Bomb Da Base Part I

[8] Bomb Da Base Part II

[S] Last Requests

So my logic here was basically:

- If two separate missions trigger the same event (e.g. Ammunation being unlocked after Pump Action Pimp/Farwell Chunky Lee Chong, triads hating you after The Pickup/Trial by Fire) those missions should be done back-to-back

- If a mission giver sends you a pager message, their mission comes next.

- Marty's missions take place when they do simply because Claude's still in the "slower paced" part of the story.

- If all the above logic doesn't apply, continue doing missions for the same/earliest mission-giver for as long as you can.

PART II: Staunton Island

Spoiler

[A] Sayonara Salvatore

[KC] Bling Bling Scramble

[KC] Uzi Rider

[KC] Gang Car Roundup

[KC] Kingdom Come

[A] Under Surveillance

[KK] Grand Theft Auto

[KK] Kanbu Bust Out

[KK] Deal Steal

[KK] Shima

[KK] Smackdown

[A] Paparazzi Purge

[A] Payday For Ray

[A] Two Faced Tanner

[R] Silence The Sneak

[R] Arms Shortage

[R] Evidence Dash

[R] Gone Fishing

[R] Plaster Blaster

[DL] Liberator

[DL] Waka-Gashira Wipeout

[DL] A Drop In The Ocean

- Okay, so after Under Surveillance Kenji asks you to pop by after you've done your job for Asuka. And considering the mission ends at the Casino, it makes most sense to do it next

- In Paparazzi Purge Askua says her and Maria have gone for a little holiday until Claude sorts out the reporter. Their absence is the reason Claude completes Kenji's missions first, before returning to the empty condo.

- King Courtney's missions come before Claude actively starts working against the Yardies/Cartel for Kenji. Claude would have more of a motivation to go after the Yardies after they sold him out to Catalina

PART III: Shoreside Vale

Spoiler

[DL] Grand Theft Aero

[R] Marked Man

[A] Bait

[DI] Uzi Money

[DI] Toyminator

[DI] Rigged To Blow

[DI] Bullion Run

[DI] Rumble

[DL] Escort Service

[DL] Decoy

[DL] Love's Disappearance

[A] Espresso-2-Go

[A] S.A.M/Ransom

[C] The Exchange

- It seems as if logically l Grand Theft Aero needs to come straight away. If they're stripping down the plane like Love says, then that'll be almost immediately after it landed

- Asuka says in Bait that there are multiple hit squads stationed around Shoreside out for Claude. It makes sense to do it as soon as possible since in theory Claude would otherwise run into the death squads during his other escapades in Shoreside.

- Doing D-Ice's missions where they are gives Claude a good opportunity to take a break and explore Shoreside before returning to Staunton to finish off the story.

You can't do El Burro after Salvatore and heres why. So Leones after you kill Salvatore spawn with shotgun and it tooks around 2 hits to set your car on fire. And first El Burro's mission is race that goes around Leones turf so there are high chances that you will be blown up.

For me, I always did missions in order of earliest mission giver:

So I did all of Luigi's missions first, then Joey's and then Tony's etc.

Side missions/collectibles I did before finishing Salvatore's last mission because after that, Portland literally becomes a war zone with practically all the gangs becoming hostile towards you which makes activities such as Firefighting, Paramedic practically impossible.

I do think there should be some sort of order in which missions go in though, remember those 'game guides' you could buy? They were always good for telling you the order of missions. I have one for Red Dead Redemption 2, granted that game is 10x bigger than this but you get my point.

Well, Marty's Missions should be between Luigi's and Joey's Missions, El Burro's between Joey's and Toni's Missions
Courtney Missions a bit more spread between Asuka and Kenji's(except Kingdom Come)
Kingdom Come happens after Grand Theft Aero, as it pretty much connects with Bait Mission from Asuka on Costruction Site, because Catalina want you dead at this point.
D-Ice Missions pretty much can be put between Donald's missions and Asuka's Missions
