SA DE Missing 1 Oyster

I have 49/50 oysters, I have checked every location across multiple guides, I think there must be some glitch where one or more oysters appears invisible and it’s impossible to know which one I missed. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

This is for GTA San Andreas: Definitive Edition. Sorry, I forgot to mention that.

Upload your save to GTASnP.com. It can read DE saves and has a collection map that should make it pretty easy to find your missing oyster.

Oh, well... You probably can't access your saves on PS5. How about an old-school strategy instead?  The collectible pickups have always been very reliable. If you can't find reference to other players having the same problem then the oyster most likely exists, you just need to find it. That's always been the problem in the past, and is probably true for DE too.

 

Old-School: Start a new game and use cheats if necessary to boost stats and restrict the wanted level. Systematically collect each oyster. Your missing oyster will be the one that's not in the place you thought it was. Usually there's an ah-ha moment and you can quickly load your good save and collect it.

So basically I went through and collected all oysters and one of them didn’t get counted and now I’m screwed, basically have to start all over even though I’m at 90% completion. If anyone has a solution or a workaround I would love to hear it

Huh! I'm not convinced the glitch is real, but you've shaken my confidence in the look again strategy. Reports of issues with the DE version are so severe that I suppose anything is possible. Invisible oysters are tough to swallow though - I wonder if an invisible oyster would be visible through a camera lens, like a snapshot.

 

I'm sorry. I don't know what to suggest. Ordinarily I'd invite better evidence and start and investigation but at this point I think I'd better take a break from glitch detection and repair until Rockstar has a chance to fix their mess.

- Oyster that close to Seasparrow location (North side of LV Ocean)

- Oyster that close to Military Fuel Depot (Northeast of LV Ocean)

- Oysters that near freeway at L.S Airport area

I’m not forgetting any oysters. I already got them all, but for some reason one didn’t get counted, and now my save file is screwed

Dude, I promise you you've forgotten one. There is no such thing as a "one is missing!" glitch, this sh*t has been going on since GTA III came out twenty years ago, and the solution is always the same: the player is at fault, not the game. Get a map and a boat and go to each location until you find the culprit.

My advice is, that, you should print SA map with each collectables, then mark each oyster you collect.

I suggest you read the Reddit thread I posted, multiple users have complained about this issue and stated that the only solution is to start a new game. This is clearly a game issue, not a player issue, but by all means continue to perfectly balanced person for Rockstar, it’s super helpful

Again, the issue is not that I missed one, the issue is that I already got them all and one didn’t get counted, please read the Reddit thread I posted earlier

Maybe explain how you collected the Oysters and we can figure out where you might have gone wrong.
 

Like, do you remember receiving the on screen notification for each oyster collected?

There's an Oyster next to a Horseshoe at the V-Rock Hotel in Las Venturas that might have confused you.

Did you use the map for collecting the Oysters and went to a location on the map and just didn't find it?

I've looked in one spot for a while and not realised it was just much deeper than most other Oysters.

I read somewhere this can happen if you collect an oyster during a mission and then fail it. It doesn’t count, but disappears. Forget where I read that, but never the less all these bugs that break the game seriously suck. To avoid this bug in the future I would just avoid grabbing the collectibles until end game.

That's a thing with pigeons in GTA IV. Don't know if it's the same with oysters in SA or if you're just thinking of that.

The only thing I can suggest is the time consuming (but very revealing and reassuring) "go back and revisit every location" carefully, which is something you don't seem to have done, and nor do you want to entertain the idea. It's not a great solution and it's the last thing you want to be doing, but I heartily recommend it. I've been playing the game for over 15 years and the amount of times I've accidentally missed one when I was absolutely certain I had it is borderline embarrassing. Revisiting the oyster locations is not as tedious as it sounds if you break it up into areas which are easily accessible by a specific vehicle. For instance, using the Sea Sparrow for the desert and countryside is a breeze, and an NRG-500 makes light work of everywhere else.

 

Please go back and check all the areas. You might surprise yourself - and no, the "but I could have swoooooorn I had that one" defense has never counted. As skeptical as I am about this supposed missing collectible glitch, the reason why you're being met with so much hostility is you don't seem to at all be considering user error.

Ah maybe. I thought it happened with oysters though. 

I got all of the oysters a few days ago. I got all horseshoes too. At one point I thought I had the same issue as OP where I was missing one. Turns out the guide I was using wasn’t accurate and was pointing me at a similar texture but wrong location, so using another and tediously going through all of them helped me finally find it.

I don't know if it does with oysters or not honestly, I just know it happens with pigeons.

 

I could be totally wrong here, but is there one or more oyster that's like, hard to see? Like you have to kind of swim around/position the camera to see it, so that if you were going to check whether you'd got it or not you might not notice it? I have a really vague memory of that possibly being a thing.

Some of the oysters in the OG version were a bugger to see, especially if it was dark or the visibility in the water was poor. In the DE, it seems that oysters have not only been made bigger but they emit a bit of a glow, so it's easier than ever to spot them. One oyster that always gave me trouble early on in memorising the route were numbers 40 and 41. In some guides I've seen, the location for 40 is often mistakenly attributed to the bridge just north of it, sandwiched between the two genuine locations. It's very easy to visit that bridge, assume you'd already gotten it somehow and miss one (or even two) entirely. 44 also gave me trouble because other than a boat that spawns most of the time, there's little in terms of landmarks or reference points save for a small ridge present on the mini map to guide you to the right spot. As I said though, in the DE these oysters have been given a bit of a buff in visibility so whilst you can still miss them, you should have an easier time in spotting them than the original version.

37. Despite a great deal of practice and knowing exactly where I was going, I often had to swim around in circles trying to spot it, and sometimes collected it before I saw it.

The issue I’ve noticed with some of the oysters and horseshoes is they are by similar textures of buildings, walls, etc located nearby and so it’s easy to go to the wrong area and since it looks identical you think you got it, but didn’t. My issue where this happened specifically that I can think of is the Royal Casino parking lot horseshoe. It was against a weird wall that looked like five other walls in the garage so I kept going around thinking I got it when it was elsewhere still.

Yes exactly! Could be a situation like that and then when going back to check still not seeing it. They're a horrible collectible really lol

The oysters and the horseshoes are by far my least favourite purely due to the visuals and how much trickier they are to reach. At least with tags and snapshots, all you really need is spray paint and a camera respectively.

I think im also encountering this problem I did infact collect a few oysters during missions, failed but i still had them anyway there's an oyster underneath the railway bridge connecting las venturas to countryside which im 99.99% sure that I didn't collect it.

I feel bad for anyone who was also affected by this glitch 

All i can do is reset which im not mad about it's gonna be a fun and a fresh start

Nevermind! There are some oysters which do not count sometimes, they do not disappear which means if it's not there you have it. The oyster is inside Madd Dogs pool i remember collecting it but it didn't count i recently collected it.

Bruh wdym horseshoes are pretty easy all you need is a jetpack. Oysters? yes those are annoying as some oysters give you wanted level
