Windows Update perma-locked Mods file. OIV drag drop wont work.

• A restart (one of many) suddenly fixed the problem. 
• Open IV is now working - but weirdly the mods folder is still showing as Read Only in Windows Explorer

Hey guys,

I have spent close to 6 hours trying to fix this and have finally given up. Basically the Mods folder stays permanently in Read Only and nothing can write to it - including OIV.

Drag & drop from Win Explorer into OIV will not work

 

1. OIV is NOT running in Admin mode
2. Edit mode is on
3. In Win Explorer: Right click mod folder > uncheck Read Only - will not work
4. The + method will not work either
5. In Windows: Went to Advanced Settings in Security tab to change Permissions granting permissions to everyone. Full access. Wont work. Still perma-locked to Read Only

Everything was working just fine until the latest Win update. I am now on Win10 Pro V 21H2 Build 19044.1415

Has anyone managed to get around this? Safe mode? Does OIV work in Safe Mode? Thanks for any info.
