Mister Pink
Looks OK. I'll give it a watch because I'm enjoying the game. I don't think it's going to be anything mind-blowing. Then again, trailers are often not really that representative of show's worth. 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿
Jason
So it looks like lore wise it's a reinvention and not a recreation of the games lore, which I'm onboard with. So no issues there. But does anyone else think it looks... weirdly cheap? I don't think it's anything to do with the sets or anything, they all look great, but I think it's the way it's shot, the brightly lit scenes etc? There's no atmosphere to almost all of the shots in the trailer giving it this cheap looking vibe. The scene where Chief is fighing the two Elites is a good example of what I mean, the CGI, costumes, etc, all look great, but it's so brightly lit it makes it all look cheap. Whether it's the brightness or the colour grade they gone for. I think it's the colour grade and/or a combination of both. They've gone for this trendy bright orange and teal look which is "cinema" now for a lot of filmmakers. I was hoping for something more moody like Arrival. I think Arrival is more closer to Halo colours than Halo TV series. Also, regarding the timeline... Quote ‘Silver’ is the name of the central Spartan fireteam, and, of course, a nod to the ‘silver screen’ too – naturally, the name stuck. The Silver Timeline is a unique vision of the Halo universe that contains and embraces many key elements of the core canon that has spanned the last two decades, but with relevant contextual and narrative details that diverge in ways appropriate (and necessary) to the storytelling opportunities presented by the TV medium and our collaboration with creative partners. To tell the best Halo stories we can, we want to protect the integrity, simplicity, and future of the core canon, but also not be limited by it when faced with the realities of a new medium and the process of production. As a result, we made the decision to set the Halo television series in an authentic, but independent timeline. https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/silver-debrief-a-new-beginning 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿

DexMacLeod
I enjoyed the first episode for the most part. I know nothing of the Halo lore or storyline from the videogames. I played multiplayer a few times on the OG Xbox and that's about all the Halo I've put my hands on. I felt it did a pretty good job of setting up what seems to be a pretty deep and complicated world without sacrificing plot or characters. Basically, I know who everyone is, I know what their goals are, and I know a few of their motivations. I'm interested to find out what happens next. My only real complaint is the visuals. The CGI looks fine and all but there's something about the show that's just... off, to me. I don't know if it's the over saturation, the high contrast, or the camera itself but it just feels like there's a slick coat of gloss on top of everything. Or maybe everything that isn't the CGI just looks cheap. I'm not sure how to explain it but the sets feel like sets and the costumes feel like costumes. Nothing ever really feels genuine. Failed Again
I've tested Paramount in the past and I found that episodes come out once per week..is this Halo like that? I tried once in the past even though the show had been out awhile, it still only let me see One per week. and now I see its $9.99 per month in US. DexMacLeod
They're releasing weekly but you should be able to binge them once it's over. At least, that's how it's worked for me with every other show on there in the past. Failed Again
Mexicola9302
Very mixed opinions on IMDB. Im not sure i gonna watch it weekly, maybe i wait until i can binge it. It's annoying to watch one episode each week. First season will have 9 episodes, so in 2 months season 1 is complete. I just gonna download it weekly, then watch it in 2 months. Edit: I couldn't resist and just watched the first episode, it was actually not bad. I mean it really has this Halo vibe going on, how it should be, but the cast is a bit weird, the selection i mean, and it seems to be a bit political. The effects themselves are good, but the CGI is so obvious i mean it's like watching a computer animated series. It's like the only thing not made in the computer are the characters themselves. I will just continue watching it on a weekly basis. Edited March 28 by Mexicola9302 Failed Again

I haven't watched the first episode yet but I noticed the same in the first proper trailer. I think an easy way to put it is that it looks devoid of all atmosphere. It's very bright and set in a lot of boring environments. Again, just based on the trailer but the very CGI shows looked like the best parts of the show while the rest looked like it was set in a quarry. Mexicola9302
I think this is a series that has to be watched in HDR at least, else it looks like crap. I didn't notice anything weird looking, yeah it all looks like CGI but it's decent made. It has The Mandalorian vibe to it, all is made in a computer, the only real thing are the actors themselves. I watched it on a LG OLED55B9SLA that had the best price-performance ratio in 2020, my old Sony KD-55X8509C 4K TV died in that year, so i wanted to try another brand. Jason
Watched the first few episodes and it's honestly far better than I expected it to be. The story is a reimagining of the games for sure but it works so far, and it's nice to not know every story beat as it happens cause I've played the games. There's an absolute sh*t ton of CGI usage but it looks pretty solid for a TV show, but there is also a lot of physical sets as well that look solid. It's still a little flat in places, I think a lot of that comes from the materials of the sets and armour, they're a bit plasticy when you'd expect them to be heavy duty metal and stuff. But I'm genuinely surprised by the scale of it for a TV show, the Halo universe is very grand and OTT in scale and so far it's not forgetting that. Honestly the most jarring thing early doors is getting used to Chief's voice not being the voice from the games.
Mexicola9302
The seventh episode was so horrible boring it's unbelievable. Nothing is missed, if it's just skipped, nobody needs to watch crap like that. A complete episode about Kwan and the former black spartan on Madrigal. That character needs to get killed, why should that side character be interesting to anyone, what were they thinking making this episode. I was just letting the episode run in the background and barely looked at my TV. It was so uninteresting. OMFG they need to kill off that character ASAP. All i wanna see is the master chief, cortana and the other still active spartans and how they fight the aliens. Not some meaningless annoying side character. Im not alone with this opinion. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8631934/reviews?ref_=tt_urv Edited May 7 by Mexicola9302
