jm-9
GTA 1 requires the CD to be present. Use this guide to mount a CD drive: https://www.freezenet.ca/guides/compatibility-and-emulation/how-to-play-a-16-bit-dos-games-that-require-a-cd-rom/ Note that you will either need the original CD and a CD or DVD drive or a disc image of the CD on your PC. Yo! I'm playing on the DosBox version. I installed the Dos version of GTA 1 somewhere. I forgot which site. But it keeps giving me a cd warning! Christian1989NL
I had the same problem and solved it. In order to play GTA in DOSBox, you will need an exact copy (sector-by-sector) image of the orginal disc in bin/cue format. Then inside Dosbox, you must mount the cd-rom image by typing the following command: imgmount d c:\path\to\your\gta-image\image.cue -t iso Then it will work. The default 'mount' of DOSBox won't work (the article what jm-9 is reffering to), you must use the imgmount command. Edit: Just follow this guide here: Edited January 3 by Christian1989NL jm-9, Carl_Speed YT and ThermalSmoke

Do i need to download it?
Christian1989NL
You only need xcopy if you want to install GTA 1 inside DOS, but this way of installation isn't needed. You can just install the game inside Windows by running autorun.exe on the CD. (The WIndows installation copies the DOS executables to your hard drive) But again, everything is explained here: Carl_Speed YT
