A Note/Update from Rockstar regarding the Trilogy Definitive Edition

IIRC, they were initially slated for the first half of 2022 before being delayed until Q1 2023 (fiscal year). As of the most recent Take-Two earnings report, it was indefinitely pushed back and its current status is "TBD". If R*/T2/GSG were confident enough to release the DE as it was on consoles and PC, I can't even imagine how bad of a state the mobile versions must have been in to be delayed multiple times (with no real ETA at the moment). Either that, or R*/T2 simply wants to have the mobile versions and the Steam/Epic release coincide with whatever updates they're working on; so that there can be a single, soft "relaunch" of sorts for the DE. (It could be a combination of both scenarios, though.)

Since major releases will start coming out soon, and there, no matter how they fix the reissue, it will no longer be up to gta

I’d like to agree with you, but I think it will be, at worst, a modest success on Steam/Epic/mobile regardless of when it releases. Remember that GTA is able to sell on brand recognition alone; there’s a reason the DE managed to sell 10 million copies within the first few months of its launch, and it certainly wasn’t because it was a well-polished labor of love…

In fairness, releasing it around the holidays probably gave it a small shot in the arm, too. And sales have admittedly slowed down to a crawl since then, likely due to negative word of mouth spreading further.

Nope, no patches were released for the TDE yet. Plus it would most likely be 1.05 because the last minor patch was 1.04.5.

That said, like I mentioned the other day, Nanite geometry alone would be quite helpful with regards to the DE's current, bollocks LoD system.

I feel used! At least when other GTAF members have their speculation and ideas regurgitated into "leaks/rumours", it's from that F*ck Da World Boss shmuck himself. When it happens to me, it's a random redditor!

It speaks to how often I visit this damn thread that I recognised both comments right away  It's so ill-timed as well considering you could reasonably argue with the recent developments that there is genuine cause to be excited/hopeful, without having to try and push a false rumour.

Hmm hopefully a further sign of an impending release. I may end up eating these words but I'll be surprised if we reach February without an announcement/release.

Perhaps they will release the DE in the next fiscal year, to make better numbers.

I would *really* not recommend believing that random Reddit post... They're definitely not moving to UE5, no reason to either. That wouldn't be as easy as just updating the engine version, it'd be work on top of whatever other work they're doing to the TDE on UE4 already.

UE4 has been (and still is) an industry standard when it comes to game engines, so many good games have been done with it but of course it's up to the developers to adapt it to their project and make a proper use of all the things it provides.

Porting the Trilogy to UE5 simply doesn't make any sense whatsoever, it requires time, people (who may have never used UE5) and money, nobody would invest all these resources on a project that has such a bad reputation and that won't generate many more sales in the future.

The problem with DE is not the engine. It's a complete misunderstanding of art direction, lack of effort and absolute absence of any quality control. DE is fundamentally broken and the only way to fix it is to burn it down and start all over.
If R* ever cared about DE, they wouldn't've released it the way they did. Everything, from taking the OG games from the storefronts to releasing this steaming pile of sh*t instead is a loud and clear "f*ck you" to all the fans who were hopeful or crazy enough to expect a decent and respectful move from them.

This is why I've grown to dislike remasters and why I'm glad GTA IV isn't getting one, at least for now. I'm honestly tired of this constant need to always enhance or update games.
