I would harbor that article and the request for harassment to stop is Rockstar speaking on behalf of Grove Street Games.

Mate, you've completely missed the point of what I'm trying to say, which is evident because you've just foregone the other part of that post about how a developer could have sway or influence over a decision that Take 2 makes.

Yes, and you're completely ignoring the point I'm making.
An individual developer may not have the power to sway Take-Two but Rockstar as an entity does.
Rockstar as an entity has not attempted to stop Take-Two from harassing the mod community despite previously demonstrating the ability to do so.
Therefore Rockstar is complicit in harassment...while simultaneously asking people not to harass.

So why the f*ck were they released in the first place then?
They're not sorry. They're sorry they got called out.
F*ck 'em.

Money

why do you think they manipulated this whole site into thinking it was gonna be amazing with a 50 second trailer and didn’t show any more of it u til release? Why do you think the review embargo didn’t lift until after release?

That update seems to be merely to match it up with PC, that was a few versions ahead due to the patch that removed the tools + source leaks. There are some minor fixes in it but it's not the big thing yet. We'll see if there's a change log.

My post got removed from this topic and I basically said the same thing as DarkViperAU in his video title.

Would you please stop removing my posts if there's no insults in them?

Would be the perfect timing to release a substantial update, but oh well LOL

Sounds like you're backpedaling by pushing a completely new argument now.

Some random level designer/asset creator/sound designer is getting harassed. <--- (people who are just trying to do their jobs, no matter how good are bad of a job it is) <--- These people are getting harassed <--- Rockstar kindly asks the community to stop harassing these people.

The way you have worded your initial response made it sound like these people above^ have some influence over a decision that Take 2 makes. Like some rando 9 to 5 dev can just bust into a meeting and go "YOU THERE! STRAUSS! STOP THIS MADNESS AT ONCE!". The higher ups at Rockstar, someone probably like Sam Houser and the other people at his level in the company might have a sway or influence. Not some random f*cking dev who is just doing their job.

It's great that this demaster was released so close to the end of the year. I can imagine boycotting R* being a great New Year's Resolution for any GTA fan.

Given the next release is GTA V E&E in March that resolution is pretty easy (so far)

Easy to boycott them when they barely release anything

Perhaps to you, but nobody else has been confused about this, just you. I've been very clear from the start that the hypocrisy here is Rockstar's, not the individual developers.

Like I said before. Rockstar themselves aren't the one sending private investigators to peoples homes. That's Take 2. And be that as it may, Rockstar have a duty of care towards their employees, just as Kirsty pointed out. They NEEDED to include that request from the community to stop the harassment.

Anyway if anyone wants to have a look at how a good remaster looks like then Saints Row 3 Remastered along with all the others are on sale on Steam:

https://store.steampowered.com/sale/SaintsRowFranchiseSale

I have to admit that I hope that potential competitors will look at Rockstar's failure in this space and will try to actually compete. I'd be really happy for some banger SR1 and SR2 remasters, especially since the first one is still an Xbox exclusive. Bring 'em to PC and Playstation!

It's fine that they apologized and finally communicated a little bit with their customers the community.

However they shouldn't have let another studio handle the remaster of those classics in the first place, especially when they somehow put them in a tight situation where they had to rush everything and release that cursed remaster 😬

Hopefully they will do what is needed to limit the damages but i'm afraid it will be a bit too late. Lots of players already lost their faith into R* and those poor remakes 😕

The GTA Trilogy deserved a better treatment than that. Shame 👎

This is very off-topic, but I wouldn't get your hopes up for these. Unlike SR3, the source code for those games are totally lost. There was an official effort to "fix" the SR2 pc port but progress was always slow moving and the project lead died of cancer a few months back so I don't even know if it's still active.

And like I've said several times now...Rockstar have demonstrated the ability to intervene and prevent such things from happening. That means that if they are happening that Rockstar isn't trying to stop that. Turning a blind eye to harassment because your mate is doing it, while calling out everyone else, is the definition of hypocrisy. (also I happen to think that IRL harassment is slightly worse than mean posts on social media)

GSG isn't part of Rockstar...so...no...they don't have a duty of care and they didn't need to include it, to say nothing of that fact that all acknowledging harassment ever achieves is...more harassment. It's like a kid reacting to a schoolyard bully, all it does is give them what they wanted and encourage them.

Heh funny how they just dropped an update because I recall someone complaining about their statement and that instead they should have dropped an update. Well, there it is!

The SR2 PC fix is still coming, it's just on the backburner for obvious reasons (IdolNinja's tragic death, SR5). As for SR1 lost source code certainly complicates things but really it only depends on the publisher.

From what i've seen on Twitter, the new update for consoles is just the latest PC release (slight fixes) with the leaked/music content removed

I'm glad they're offering the classic versions to anyone who doesn't have them but has purchased the definitive edition, that's better than anyone expected them to do in redemption.

"The updated versions of these classic games did not launch in a state that meets our own standards of quality, or the standards our fans have come to expect." This is what gets me, instead of admitting they got shafted by reviews they're now saying they KNEW they weren't up to scratch and released them anyway. I love GTA and nearly every one of Rockstar's games but I don't think Grove Street Games gave even a fraction of love to the 3D era that Rockstar North did. Fair enough it's a job to them and they don't deserve literal death threats but I don't think they understand the product isn't just a glitter pen and the consumers are massively affected by this exaggeration of a remaster. £60 is a lot of money even for a AAA game and the bar is set quite higher on average in 2021, £60 is definitely a lot for reused assets across 3 games and ported to a different engine.

That distinction isn't really warranted. Rockstar is a subsidiary of Take Two and it's not even a situation where an independent developer with its own company culture eventually gets bought up by Take Two. No, Rockstar was created by Take Two so as an influential development studio that's part of Take Two and one that used to express admiration towards modders (yes, there was a time...) it should be their due diligence to influence the other departments to do better. Sending a DMCA for a save file is clearly not the result of a well informed decision, that's somebody being an idiot and those people should be influenced by Rockstar. The same goes for the RE3 situation: there are people at Rockstar who KNOW for a fact that RE3 is fair use reverse engineering so the rest of the company should too.

Yes, see 2017 when Rockstar Games stepped in to advise Take-Two to drop the current court cases against the OpenIV Devs and when Rockstar brokered the agreement between the modding community and Take-Two.

Of course over time we're left to assume that it was Dan Houser himself asking this, now that he's gone there might not be anyone left at Rockstar who's happy with the modding side of things.

I'd never imagined someone like Rockstar writing "please stop harrassing us"

I mean, sure, harassment is bad and needs to stop, but...  Do I really have to believe that they aren't used to any kind of PR? Should I really think that they don't know that a screwed up videogame can lead to anger and some people (out of milions) are going to be toxic about it?

Like DarkViperAU said in its video, it looks mostly like an attempt to look like the victim.

Wow, I didn't know all of this. Too bad they didn't step in and broker a deal between the modders in 2021 and Take2.

T2 and Rockstar are the most to blame, we all agree on that, but i Will insist regardless being  an impopular opinion...GSG has a Big chunk of the responsability too that  needs  to be addressed, they Made poorly and inconsistent character models and failed to do propper Quality assurance...they should have said to Rockstar: we have terrible bugs and performance issues, can You give me a hand?, Or more time or whatever they need...Rockstar should have addressed this terrible bugs and helped too but seems that Quality Assurance was not important this time, another note, for My personal opinion and mine opinión only, i don't see passion and dedication from GSG to this Project, seems like for them was just another project among others...so in resume : T2 and Rockstar are the more responsable for this Mess but GSG needs to be addressed too.
