Maybe it's just my schadenfreude at play, but does anyone like to see this GTA VI leak situation as karma on Rockstar/TT's part? Let's face it, they've getting away with too much bullsh*t lately, be it releasing low-effort garbage to milk the fans or their disgusting behaviour towards modders. As much as I feel for hardworking developers getting their work spoiled, I like to imagine those corporate scum (like Strauss) are seething like crazy right now.

I find it hilarious how easily people forget how assholish TT is. Few weeks ago, hell, even few days ago everyone was onboard on how bad TT's been and now after they get hacked and have their assets stolen we're supposed to feel bad for them? Why should we show them sympathy when they showed none recently? Even during all this chaos they shut down GTA IV patch mod.  Their relationship with modders is horrible and let's not go back to Trilogy DE, everyone knows it's horrible. I feel bad for developers who worked hard on this project but in the same time I feel nothing towards upper management. If you ask me, they needed a slap to the face in order to get them back to reality.

That's assuming that this wasn't all put on by Take2 and Rockstar to generate a ton of fervor. Though, I doubt this particular conspiracy theory to be true, it is worth mentioning, as let's be honest, the gaming giant, once media darlings for the GTA franchise, has been under fierce public attack that has been pretty universal in the media and by gamers. It started with Take2's attack on modders, though, to be frank, that was something that could have easily been kept under the radar, since only the hardcore GTA fanbase kept up with or even cared about any of that. The average players, even the majority of the GTA fans and players out there, were likely blissfully unaware of all that.

Even the media mostly gave Rockstar a pass on all of tTake2's litigious bullsh*t.

But after DE and the big nothing burger of E&E, the once universally loved dev team is now treated with the same scorn that gamers usually reserve for EA and Ubisoft. While I don't think the leak was intentional, it wouldn't surprise me if it was. If nothing else, it gets GTA out there in a light that is far more favorable to the gaming community than the press they have been getting lately.

It feels weird to see a community who were a) constantly bitching about R* and TT for all sorts of justifiable reasons and b) constantly begging them for any information regarding GTA 6, suddenly get upset and sympathetic because a dozen or so short clips got leaked. 2/3 of which are just the dev team testing various functions in an empty test map area.

Barely anything that was shown revealed anything new aside from some new/returning vehicles and really tiny portions of the map. Far worse and actual damaging leaks has happened towards other games (e.x TLOU2). Yet somehow the fanbase acts like the game was entirely spoiled for them and starts feeling bad for a greedy ass corporation that they were literally despising few days ago.

I swear R* can get away with pretty much everything at this point just because it's R*. Any other company would get instantly and universally panned for doing literally the eaxct same scummy things.

Exactly. What do people want anyway? They want leaks which they get and then they don't want them anymore. We hated TT and R* yesterday but we love them today. I don't know what kind of magic TT is doing to change people's opinions in a span of a day but I would love to learn that trick.

The company that refused to implement proper anti-hacker system in their games finally learns the importance of security after being hacked themselves.

Spoiler

Karma is useless if they didn't learn IMO but it is satisfying to watch nonetheless. :adminkek:

theres still hope. The mobile version was supposed to come out early this year and its still being worked on, delayed to 2023, seems like they are taking their time and really trying to fix the game. Thats our last hope for a big update to fix things

Rockstar/Take Two has developed a mob-like mentality. Sending agents to people's houses for having better material than that defective nonsense. I have no sympathy for them.

It would have been very naive to think that R* actually cares.

IMO, I think it's totally abandoned, and mobile ports are cancelled.

Why do I have a feeling Take-Two will take those dev build screenshots down for NDA reasons?

Riddle me this: Why are people still looking forward to patches somehow fixing a game that's fundamentally broken?

Oikein! This project was broken since the beginning. You cannot expect to receive substantial fixes when the starting point was the most bugged version among the available ones. If they want to show some respect to the fans, they should start this project all over again. Unfortunately, this won't happen as they would never admit that they released something not presentable for the mass market.

They are focused now on GTA VI, so perhaps when it be released, part of the team could work on Definitive Edition to fix it... Or even better: abandon the DE, and make a proper remake of the 3 games.

Precisely. As they are broken, they should fix them. If not all, at least mayor bugs. But as I say above, perhaps it's better they abandon the DE, and make a remake of them that worth it.

Fundamentally broken. Too beyond saving, that is. Just like the Saints Row reboot.

They might be able to fix weather effects or add the ever-important draw distance fog so that the scene of Tenpenny arresting CJ doesn't have Mount Chiliad in plain sight, but too many of the graphical issues are so far gone that the entire game would have to be utterly redone from a clean slate, which ain't happening.

So, perhaps it would be easier start from the ground other project. I think that making a "PS2" game from the ground, with the tools of today, should be relatively easy. I mean, recreate GTA III for example, it shouldn't be difficult. It's not a massive world. It's a little map, with some missions.

fixed that; Take-Two merely provides legal support - it's Rockstar that's calling the shots

I love that the touch screen widgets from the original mobile ports are still present in these screenshots. Dev-build or not, it tells you all you need to know about the way the DE was handled from day one.

And I can't believe that it's already been a year since these abominations were originally teased. Such simpler times; to think that I was still cautiously optimistic for them. What a f*cking idiot I was... :sadkek:

Still holding out some hope because we know there have been updates made to the games since the last patch in February, so hopefully that leads to something. We'll see.

To me, they're both sides of the same coin, so f*ck 'em both.

And those dev screens pretty much confirm what we knew all along, that these were just lazily brushed-up mobile ports sold at full price. Amazing that almost a year since this travesty was dropped, nobody has properly answered or taken responsibility for this whole debacle.

What do you mean, mate? Zelnick personally said "The Glitch" was "resolved"! Cut Strauss and Da Rockstars some slack!

In all seriousness, IIRC, Rockstar went out of its way to state that they were still supportive of SP modding after they reversed their actions during the 2017 OpenIV fiasco. One could argue that makes Take-Two the big bad; but in hindsight, considering the scummy things they've done since then (i.e. among other things, doubling down on screwing over the modding community), I think R* and T2 are pretty much one and the same at this point. Maybe not the developers themselves, but R* as a publisher/business? Abso-f*cking-lutely.

No updates for 7+ months. One final update to redeem themselves for Vice City's 20th Anniversary soon? Or is it dead?

Also it's either 1 year Rockstar Launcher exclusive or forever exclusive which is so dumb lmao. Imagine how many sales they lost by not releasing it on Steam for so long :kekw:

Thanks for posting this - I feel like people are missing the biggest point here. If this developer was still actively working for GSG and actively working on new things for the Definitive Edition, they *probably* wouldn't be posting this on ArtStation.

That is to say, the fact that this has been posted is a pretty good indication that the Definitive Edition is more or less dead. I'll be very curious to see if the VR version of SA ever releases, and indeed the mobile ports.
