About LOD (level of detail) of far objects (particularly in buildings)

What is your opinion about the implementation of LOD in this trilogy?

 

I mean, I see this... and cry :___( It's so ugly... Even I think is a kind of dynamic LOD generated on the fly by the unreal engine.

 

I have never seen that in a game... only in google earth. And for a game I think it's a bad decision. It would have been better to have done the LODs for the objects manually, but that would have taken a long time.

If your PC can handle it you can make that better. That is, if you're playing on PC.

 

Open:

<YourUser>\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition\Config\WindowsNoEditor

and edit "CustomSettings.ini"

 

Uncomment the config option "gta.worldcomp.distmult" by removing the semicolon (;) and set it to like 5.0

I set it to 8.0 at first but it costed a few more FPS than I would've liked, so I set it to 5.0 which is a nice compromise between detailed objects in the distance and still high FPS.

Yeah, idk why they removed fog. I can see the mountain from sam fierro and it’s insanely undetailed. If they gonna show us things from afar, atleast make it detailed

it looks like sh*t basically, for example the container ship whenever i see it in LOD, it looks like a huge mess imo

LOD in DE based on regular textures (as I see on screenshots) but in original game this is another small textures and low-poly models. Some of them different and contains beta content

I only like that I can see the sky scrapers in LS from Grove street. I think that gives LS a cool vibe. Even seeing them from other parts of the map.

 

But I hate that I can see Mt Chiliad from basically anywhere. And I can see those satellite towers from anywhere in the game..
