Where are all the professional reviews for the Definitive Edition?

I think it is very fishy that there seems to be rarely any professional reviews for the DE from big gaming sites. (Not talking about semi professional YouTubers.) When i look at Metacritic it seems that outside of the PS5 and Switch versions there aren't any reviews at all from gaming sites. How so? We're talking GTA here and a remaster of the most influential titles. The game is out for a week now. I understand that gaming sites didn't got pre release access, but regardless it seems suspicious as if these gaming sites are afraid to release their reviews. I don't think that you have to finish every of the three games to write a sufficient review about it. 5 hours per game is enough to get a feel for the performance, graphics and overall quality of the DE. The story hasn't changed at all.

I have the feeling that major gaming outlets are afraid or as if they aren't allowed to review the games. Or is this some kind of Cyberpunk 2077 related strategy? Many gaming sites have gotten a lot of flak for being too positive about that game. Are they afraid? What is happening?

They didn't receive advance copies so they started playing last Thursday like the rest of us. Across the 3 games, there's a lot of content to get through, and then they have to write/edit their reviews together. IGN published theirs today, we should expect most big publications to follow over the rest of the week, and into next week.

Looks like most reviewers don't want to deal with this travesty of the Trilogy.

Exactly as i've said: Too few reviews. (4 on Switch, 6 on Box Series X) Even 20 on PS5 a week after release is suspicious. Seems as they have all waited till enough other reviewers made the first step. I don't trust gaming journalists anymore.

Did anyone even got review copies of the trilogy? If not, there is nothing fishy about that. What was fishy was the lack of a gameplay trailer and/or further info leading up to the release.

I remember lots of gaming sites expressing their disappointment with the trilogy even before their reviews were published. I think Kotaku even brought up the disastrous X360 port before the release of DE. I am guessing they just didn't get the copies, so that's why the reviews are rolling out slower.

A controversial game is always guaranteed clicks/views so I think we will see reviews from all the usual suspects

They probably didn't receive the copies in advance. Rockstar wasn't confident in their product at all, and this was clear as water.

DF confirmed that they didn't get any advanced copies of the game so their reviews started after the game launched.

Man, when even professional reviewers who usually give 7/8/9's to everything give you a 4 or 5, and you're a AAA studio, then you know you've screwed up.

I just can't believe that they didn't give out copies to reviewers. There can't be any other excuse, than they knew that the game was an absolute turd, which no doubt they did notice... How the could not have.

But it makes this all a lot more disgusting-they didn't give them so that they won't get all the bad rep at launch. They are smart enough to understand that the game is way worse than what everyone is hoping for. And that if the reviews are out when the game comes out, it will hit sales big time.

It's unbelievable how bad this company has become, really. GTA V E&E will probably be just slightly reskinned same old, RDO is bullsh*t, GTAO is useless cesspool that we have grinded for something like a decade with dumb economics, the most toxic player base and zero f's given from R*. Flying bikes and cars, what the hell? I can't understand how people aren't already done with it, there has been nothing new in ages - same missions and mechanics are marketed as new things, and I don't want to start on adversary modes or other dumb BS. If nobody is playing your gamemodes after the promotional week is over, it probably is not very good.

I can't understand how they are making any money with shark cards? You can literally have a million in an hour grinding Cayo. There really isn't a reason to put any real money in it. Plus most of the players really should have pretty much everything already. Including those gazillion trucks, gangs, businesses, warehouses, hangars... Which play exactly like each other.

If there wasn't the absolute masterpiece of RDR2, there really wouldn't have been positive things coming from them in.... Well a long time. GTA5 was great when it came, but the poor thing is already older than sky.

I can. When I saw the initial trailer and the very few and inconsistent screenshots, and they didn't put out more info than that, I was not even slightly surprised there were no review copies sent out. It was so obvious where this launch was headed, and when no reviews were coming out the day before and the hours before launch, it became apparent that this was an intentional review embargo based upon what Take2 knew was going to be a horrifyingly bad launch.
