NEW Ability Card Concepts

I’ve been enjoying experimenting with different play styles and ability card hands, and would love to see Rockstar implement NEW Ability Cards. I’ve sent several suggestions to Rockstar Feedback, and here’s a list of the majority of them.

  • Peacemaker (Combat Card): when using a single revolver, you deal much more damage and can fan revolvers faster.

  • Drunkard (Recovery Card): while intoxicated by alcohol, you take much less damage and deal much more damage with melee attacks.

  • Quick Draw (Combat Card): when using a single revolver, you can draw your revolver much more quickly and have greater hip-fire accuracy when fanning.

  • All Patched Up (Recovery Card): if downed in combat you can self-revive 50% slower than being revived by another. One otherwise fatal attack per day will result in being downed.

  • Sacrificial Lamb (Dead Eye Card): While Dead Eye is active if you take damage, a portion of it will be converted to Dead Eye for your team members. If more than one member of your team has this ability active, the effects do not stack.

  • Moving Target (Defense Card): you take much less damage while on Horseback, you can use Bounty Hunter Ducking for extended duration.

Are there any ideas you cowpokes think would be a great new ability card concept?

Just thought of another ability card concept!

  • Injured Wolf (Defense Card): while downed you can crawl to safety with an extended bleed-out timer, and be able to shoot a single equipped revolver or pistol.

Hmm I mostly use Paint it Black in PvE. Slow and Steady if I get into PvP.

Other cards I use are Eye for an Eye, Strange Medicine and The Unblinking Eye.

I might change these cards as well, but these are my main cards to go with. I'm playing on PC.

over the last few days I maxed out all the remaining cards I had left to get on tier 3. mostly in the dead eye category. I play PAINT IT BLACK only, but I had a "problem" with those other cards just sitting there - and now It's all the same colors and I'm content. maybe I can put them to use some time during showdowns when playing in a team, other than that I'm a free-roam lonewolf so PIB it is. UNBLINKING EYE is also mandatory - paired with a variation of  EYE FOR AN EYE, FOOL ME ONCE, LIVE FOR THE FIGHT & IRON LUNG

I’m in the same boat, just activating the few remaining cards just to have them all.

Still my dream card:

CARD KILLER: Disables my opponent's (as well as mine) cards if he shoots me first.

I'd pay hundreds of gold bars for it.

There's a couple of ability cards I'd like to see. I don't think there are any that benefit using the shotgun or the bow, two weapons I use regularly.

I think it'd be interesting to see a card like: Your main hand and offhand weapons deal significantly more damage, have better range and you yourself run faster, at the cost of losing access your shoulder and back weapons.

What about if you shoot first? You both get to keep your cards?

It would be nice to allow a quick change for several combinations.  Other than that, all they will add is more useless cards that do not help.  There are 3 dead eye cards that are any good.  SB, PIB are really it.  Focus Fire is great in defensive otherwise it basically useless. S&S was good until they applied the slow to your horse as well.  There are literally 4 other cards worth owning.  Most defensive based cards.  Fool me once, iron lung, never without one, sharp shooter...all other cards are pointless.  However, if in a pve only situation, you could use eye for an eye to restore dead eye in PIB.  This is all you need to know about the cards.  The rest are either unhelpful or you can basically do the same thing with tonics or PIB.  There are a couple damage builds for showdowns that are pretty much useless in free roam unless you play with posse.

You keep yours. I guess if this was to work the only card I would be allowed to carry would be the Killer so I'd basically be Ability Cardless.

It opens up a can of worms but it's never gonna happen anyways.

Yeah, not s fan of a ‘Card Killer’ card — sounds like you’re looking for a free-aim hardcore server.

Well theoretically maybe that card could mean the one who shot first has no ability cards versus the other, that might be a decent twist on it

Or a like the smooth operator card where you could get a stealth bonus by activating it as long as you had not shot in some time

OR my personal favorite, the PvS Player versus Stew series cards

Winning Streak works well with shotgun shells - every pellet that hits counts as a consecutive shot apparently. Add the one that gives extra damage for high stamina (Iron Lung? I forget, I never change my cards) and you can hit pretty hard.

Landon's Patience may be good for bow since it takes a little longer to aim without using PiB/deadeye (at least for me).

The card you’re thinking of is Peak Condition.

That's it!

And stoke it a little further with a stamina tonic.

Aye, Winning Streak I do use alongside Gunslinger's. Its a pretty fun set up. But what I was more referring to was that there are cards that directly boost pistol/revolver and rifles, but not bows and shotguns. So it'd be nice to see.

I used to use Peak Condition alongside Gunslinger and Winning Streak for the longest time, but I switched it out for Strange Medicine and its been working out pretty damn well so far. -Really- useful in Call to Arms.

I've come to realise recently that the cards you pick make very little difference. At least in pvp. It has more to do with how you use the terrain. I've got another character that's around rank 40 and do just as well in fights as with my rank 1000. In fact I've been doing just as well since rank 10. If you can paint and headshot consistently then doesn't really matter about anything else. It also doesn't matter if you have a Lancaster with special ammo or a Carbine with basic. You just need to kill them before they can hit you and a tree or building is better defence than any card set.
