[SA|Stability] Crash when saving or auto-saving the game

Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot the game (with a save inside CJ's house? not sure if it matters)

2. Go outside, do anything for a couple minutes (maybe spray a few gang tags, may be related) Sweet spray tag mission is already complete.

3. Go back to Grove Street, enter CJ house, overwrite an older save.
4. Expect this to happen:

The game will pop-up a message that says "Fatal error!" but the game will still work.

It's like a soft-crash. It doesn't really crash, I can still access the menus, move CJ around and all that.


I was able to reproduce it for a second time.

Looking at the crash files in my Documents folder the stack seems to suggest that what crashed was SocialClub and perhaps the bridge between SC and the game broke and prompted that message.

I have a suspicion that the game attempts to sync cloud saves but fails, then RGSC crashes.

I get save conflicts every single time.

Update:
This becomes a crash anyway since the game can't handle not having RGSC running for too long. It is also triggered at checkpoints/autosaves. It becomes unplayable if you are trying to do missions.

I was also able to reproduce a similar crash by pressing "Home" then clicking the settings gear. Instant crash.
EDIT:
I was able to workaround the issue by erasing my cloudsavedata.dat (or renaming to a .bak file) and when prompted by RGL I chose not to enable cloud saves.
In short, it's an issue with cloud saves data.

hi, how i fix it ?

 

the saves load fine through...

 

-> i tested a 100% save but not liked so i replaced with my backup save folder. replaced cloud with my local too, deleted cloud file, nothing works. :s

 

Any help / patch plz ?

After reaching Badlands in GTA SA, the autosave feature is completely broken. Everytime i reach a checkpoint and the game tries to save, the UE4 "Fatal Crash" window pops up. I can just ignore the message and keep playing but the next time it tries to save again, the game just force quits. This also happens without any mods installed and even after reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows 10. Legacy Saving works fine, it's just the autosave feature that's completely broken.

I personally haven't encountered it yet, but it seems to be related to Social Club cloud syncing. The Social Club code crashes but not the game code, which allows you to keep playing.

Delete cloudsavedata.dat or rename it to cloudsavedata.dat.bak in Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition\Profiles\*somecode*\
Don't copy this path, *somecode* is not a path, it's just an indicator of what you will find there, just go to Profiles and open whatever you see there.

If the launcher asks you to enable cloud saves, skip it.

Cloud Saving has been dramatic for me since the day it released. Conflicts and UE4 Fatal Error every time on exit and such. So I just completely disabled it and just use local for now.

.. they fixed DOUBLE-SCREEN for streamers... but the cloud is bugged !!! dont blah, it's R* cloud -side !
